Every day waking up to yet another insane declaration from Trump. America is losing the respect of the world

It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

The two situations are hardly comparable so it's a moot argument

So according to Trump today, Gaza is going to be given to America once the war ends and the USA is going to rebuild it.

Does that mean he'll have to give the Palestinians American passports?

ARealitycheck · 06/02/2025 13:23

Ilovemytulips · 06/02/2025 13:13

I will be very very upset if this Is true. I am with you that Hamas can't continue to rule Gaza.

I will add that I think both Palestinians and Israelis have to accept each other or even just tolerate each other. It can't just be one sided

Unfortunately Israel took most of the good fertile land and places with good infrastructure and left the undesirable bits with more likely warfare from other Countries to the Palestinians.

Have a read of Project 2025...that should shed any doubts that he is an advocate for women.

Absolutely.

No as they won’t be there he wants them relocated and not to America

His appeal is that he speaks his brain farts which can come across as "change" as opposed to the Democrat cookie cutter comment by committee status quo merchants. Bernie Sanders being the exception!

Back in the mists of time, when he first said he was going to run for President we jokingly likened it to New Years Eve when, under the influence of bottled substances, we 60+ year olds were going to go to Glastonbury etc next year. We luckily woke up to the reality, pity he didn't.
The Democrats need to now being priming candidates for 2028 otherwise there's a chance of a Trump dynasty, starting with Ivanka maybe.

65 % voted he got just over half of the popular vote...or something like that...not the comprehensive landslide he would like his base to think. The 30% that didn't vote may well not be too happy with all his crap.

But still a majority. I guess if we haven't lived in the shoes of the average American, how can we judge what living there has been like during the Biden administration.

Trump Lost. Vote Suppression Won. Here are the numbers…

"Trump lost. That is, if all legal voters were allowed to vote, if all legal ballots were counted, Trump would have lost the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Vice-President Kamala Harris would have won the Presidency with 286 electoral votes.

And, if not for the mass purge of voters of color, if not for the mass disqualification of provisional and mail-in ballots, if not for the new mass “vigilante” challenges in swing states, Harris would have gained at least another 3,565,000 votes, topping Trump’s official popular vote tally by 1.2 million."

I genuinely weep for society with thinking like that. The innocent people on either side share no responsibility for the crazy ones. Murdering women & children by bombing or denial of aid is barbaric. Any attempt to justify that says a hell of a lot about you.

What, for putting the blame where it should be? Denial of aid was Hamas. Aid was getting through only to be intercepted by Hamas who took it all for themselves. Don't you think that inwardly a lot of Palestinians were praying for Hamas to give up the hostages so the Palestinian lives were no longer put in danger? And still Palestinisns hail them as heros rather than the terrorists they are.

The irony. When Trump was challenging the election on the same basis back in 2020, he was accused of being deranged. Legal voters were of course allowed to vote, but not the illegal immigrants who Harris thought should have a vote. If its illegal why hasn't Harris brought a legal case and investigation?

Ask the Puerto Ricans or people from Guam how they feel about being disenfranchised. They get a passport but not a meaningful vote.

I suppose Palestinians are used to that.

It's nonsense of course because Trump doesn't want filthy immigrants and he would see Palestinians as just that.

Iwanttoliveonamountain · 06/02/2025 14:57

He’s stepped back from that now. It will only be temporary while he rebuilds Palestine.

Today was off the wall.
Had my mouth open listening to him talk about Gaza as though it was a bit of desert that needed some 'Las Vegas' casino treatment.
Honestly can't understand where we're all headed any more. Feels fucking ominous.

Spot on.
I honestly feel like I've woken up and am in some strange reality at the moment.
Every time I put on the news it's some Trump - Musk total BS or some carnage going on somewhere
Not to mention endless enquiries to tell how piss poor people have been at their jobs which has led to seriously deranged people slipping through the net.

But the area has no infrastructure- surely it makes sense for at least the women and children to be looked after in neighbouring areas, whilst men stay and rebuild.

if terrorists from Gaza hadn’t attacked the Egyptian boarder so often then it might still be easier to cross it. Egypt has long recognised the threat of Hamas terrorists. Palestinians need to focus on getting rid of Hamas if there is going to be stability on the area.

@shadypines
God, I feel the same.
I'm a total radio junkie but lately I've had to just switch it off.
I've never been so concerned about the state of the world. And I wonder what on earth our politics will look like by the time the next election cycle comes round.

What podcast was that? I'd like to listen

It was Emily Maitliss so either The News Agents or The News Agents USA.
Quite like Kathy K and the Mooch on The Rest is Politics US podcast too, the Mooch really knows the orange turd and his little precious ego.

@Turkeyneck101

I really don't get how you can think that. Project 2025 protects women from having to worry about things like reproductive choice or equality in the workplace. I, for one, am grateful to have the right people (white Christian men) take these issues off my plate so I don't have to try to understand them.
