Every day waking up to yet another insane declaration from Trump. America is losing the respect of the world

It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

The Israeli army is apparently making plans for the 'voluntary' departure of people from Gaza. It seems they are to be displaced into Egypt. I think I remember some time ago that an Egyptian politician said if that happens, they would just send them on to Europe. So, when the boat loads of these poor people arrive in Italy, Spain, France and eventually in the UK I do hope the supporters of this plan will welcome them with open arms. The other plan, mooted by some Israeli official, is that Ireland, Spain and Norway should take them, since they recognised Palestine as a state. How does that make any sense? The people of Gaza could rebuild very quickly, with aid and support from the international community. They are one of the most highly educated populations in the world. Other countries, supportive of a two state solution, should be there now, assisting with rebuilding, keeping peace and helping to amplify more moderate voices in the area, to help things move forward.

I'm a first and second generation American.
My father was born and raised in Mexico, as well as all four of my grandparents.
I am also dark-skinned, as is my oldest son.
We have lived in our neighborhood for the past 17 years and as of the past few weeks, taking a leisurely walk has elicited strange looks and the occasional question: "Do you live in this neighborhood?"
Interesting that they have never asked the actual immigrant, my English husband who is on a green card, if he actually lives in the neighborhood.
I have to remind myself, and our son, that we need to always carry our US passports whenever we go anywhere.
It's truly sad.

This is awful.

@Turkeyneck101

I really don't get how you can think that. Project 2025 protects women from having to worry about things like reproductive choice or equality in the workplace. I, for one, am grateful to have the right people (white Christian men) take these issues off my plate so I don't have to try to understand them.

Surely this is sarcasm?

I have just read that Musk is taking over air traffic control in the US.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 06/02/2025 18:03

I actually thought this was all a joke. Unless I'm mistaken no race has ever been asked to evacuate their homeland to facilitate construction! If it were me I'd say over my dead body would I do this. I admit I know little about world politics and I say this with no political agenda, but if I were Palestinian right now I would be thinking of how far I would need to go to fight for my people. And when people are so consumed with hate and trauma only truly awful things can happen.

Turkeyneck101 · 06/02/2025 18:20

I don't need anyone to make my decisions for me ...and most emphatically not a man ...particularly not a 'Christian' one. If the republican party is representative of what Christian values are then they don't align with anything I was ever brought up to believe was Christian by thought or deed.

For reference
Trump ( who flogs bibles, because he is so Christian ...cough) cheated on all his wives, big friends with Epstein
Hegseth, needs an nda of sorts so his ex doesn't tell the whole truth about what he was/is like. ...and that's before we get to the alcohol stories.
Gaetz has a penchant for teens apparently

...if that's the kind of individuals you want calling the shots on your sexual health ..
Good luck .

I'll pass and make my own decisions. You sound a bit Handmaids tale to me.

Let's hope he doesn't put his Tesla navigation system into the planes, Tesla doesn't seem to have a great safety record.

Um, maintaining some semblance of a sense of humour might be all that gets us through this?

Adjusts tin foil hat.

I have wondered, in quiet moments, whether the latest plane and helicopter crash incident might be used as an excuse to bring in more AI or perhaps even self piloting Tesla planes.

"See! All this human error! We can't have that!"

It's just an idle musing though. I haven't thought it through in any great depth.

Mrsbloggz · 06/02/2025 18:38

So musk wants to normalize planes crashing out of the sky!!?
Good luck with that.

It's amongst the long list of things we once considered crazy/madness, that are now becoming a scary reality.

Well no, not exactly. Musk will argue that human pilots are unreliable and an automatically flying plane/helicopter would be much safer.

Another word for these things is a drone. I can see the Apocalytic hellscape coming together...

For those wondering what prompted the orange twat to make his Gaza pronouncement, it's not the hotels on the Riviera - no, it's this;

What that isn't a luxury hotel?

ZippyDoodle · 06/02/2025 19:03

He's an orange clown. It's impossible to take him seriously.

He didn't make America great again last time and I very much doubt he will do it this time. Hopefully a terminal diagnosis or fatal accident will take him out soon.

You sound a delight. You don't like someone so wish them dead? Do you apply this train of thought in your personal life too? You don't agree with someone so hope they die? Nice.....

There are plenty people who see trump as an opportunity eg elon musk eg certain countries

It really wasn't. You might be ignoring the facts, but Hamas were intercepting aid arriving forvthe Palestinians and taking what they needed to store in their bunkers under the Palestinian schools and hospitals......

This has been mooted before. IIRC the Israeli army refused to to transport and dump Palestinian people into the desert.

Good on them.

Netenyahu does not speak for Israelis. Nor does he represent them. He certainly doesn't give a shit about them.

He's a self serving cunt!
