It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

It’s interesting isn’t it why Egypt did not let in People trying to flee the bombings from Gaza, why is that?

In fairness to Trump, there is no solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict that doesn't require at least one side to be completely removed from the area. You can call it ethnic cleansing, although unlike most forms of ethnic cleansing it doesn't have to involve genocide.

Religion means neither side can leave the area voluntarily as they believe they are entitled to occupy it and the other side isn't.

You could remove this problem by eradicating the religions from the population but this would take thousands of years.

The alternatives are an unpalatable forced removal of one or both sides, either by killing them all or forcible relocation, or a continuation of the on/off conflict which flits between terrorist attacks and all-out warfare. There is no peaceful, just resolution that will be accepted by both sides.

Trump's mistake is that his proposal is very firmly in Israel's favour. A better solution would be for the US to occupy the whole of Israel/Palestine and force both parties out. Clear the whole area and force the population to relocate to a country that will accept them. The main benefit of this is both sides lose and (if any sense is applied) the evicted people will be transferred to countries far apart from one another.

The cleared territory could be filled with landmines to discourage either side trying to get back in, and be periodically bombarded from the air by the US military.

No, they're preparing to help those in Gaza who want to leave, to leave. Assuming there is somewhere willing to take them in. Stop unnecessarily scaremongering. Trump's suggestion was scary and unhinged enough as it is - there's no need to scare people even more by lying about what's actually happening

No, that's not quite true either. They said US boots are not going to be on the ground so the IDF must start making plans for the 'voluntary emigration' of the Palestinians. That's the same 'voluntary emigration' that Ben Gvir has been pushing for almost from the start of the war.

I thought from all people Benny Gantz would have atleast objected to Trumps outlandish proposal but even he didn't. Why are all the top Israeli leaders pushing for it? That is what is scary.

No other country wants the problems or the terrorists. Can’t pretend the ME countries like each other, or want their people. It’s 360* hatred. .

"He says he has ordered the military to ready a plan by which any resident who wants it can emigrate to any place that agrees to absorb them."

This is not the same thing as what Trump was saying, but Trump's word salad has no doubt made him feel like it's an actual possibility worth now investigating.

Anyway, this is not the same thing as Ben Gvir's thing.

And just to reiterate - I'm very much for a two state solution and don't think any Palestinians should be made to leave. I'm not saying I'm for or against anything being mentioned on this thread, just clarifying what is actually being discussed.

What I really fear is that Musk is being set up to be the next President. Either by himself or by Trump, by him having an inside track to government. And if he manages not to completely crash America I can see the Republicans might well go for it. Trump has been a winner for them, Musk would be Trump mk2.

Musk is a very very dangerous loose canon. He could (you wouldn't think it was possible) be worse than the Orange One.

Constitutionally Musk could not run for President as he was not born in the US, but the US constitution’s not worth the paper it’s written on any more.

Just started a thread saying the same before I saw this. I'd suggest as israel apparently aligns with the west regarding values, Trump takes all Israelis out and into America and leave Palestine to the Palestinians.

Do you have a link? I can't find it.

I’m American and I spend a lot of time depressed these days. Last night I just started laughing. Picturing a Trump casino on the Gaza Strip is just ludicrous. I know it’s offensive and awful, but I also don’t believe for a moment that it is going to happen.

im pretty sure he did just lose every last slim thread of credibility he had in the world stage. I have no idea what that means for our country our the planet.

I'm also American, and I can't imagine how it looks like anything but disaster for the country and the planet. Trump himself seems even crazier and a bit senile this time around, but the people around him are perfectly compos mentis (you can be a complete and utter shit and still be sane!), and they're hellbent on burning it all down. They've already begun with, e.g., killing USAID, snatching lifesaving medications away from entire countries where they're otherwise unavailable. Aside from the sheer evil of that move, you have to wonder if these idiots realise that we're all globally connected now, and that it's no longer possible to contain deathly diseases in poor countries where the people don't matter to American voters. Domestically - over and above the longer-term consequences of appointing RFK Jr to any position having to do with health! - withdrawing the US from the WHO coupled with suppressing information on (and taking zero steps to deal with) the coming bird-flu pandemic means that Trump could already have killed millions around the world by the end of his first year in office. And that's just one aspect of everything the MAGA crowd is doing, and arguably not even the most evil.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/02/2025 09:49

No @Humdingerydoo, I don't think there's anything odd or aggressive about asking someone for stats from a poster talking about numbers. I didn't pretend anything, I responded to the conversation I quoted.

You a bit sensitive?

How do they treat each other, the Palestinians? Hamas a fine example of how they treat each other … executing the homosexuals, etc

The Israel areas invaded on 7 October … the people needed to leave …. The ones that weren’t dead. Their homes destroyed …

Hamas terrorist lead Palestinians … they started a war and found out what happens.

Indeed, they started the masacre, and still people defend the Palestinian government.

If your relative happens to blow himself up in the name of Allah, the remaining living family will be reimbursed financially for their martyrdom from the Palestinian government. They are a corrupt and evil regime who does not seek a two state solution only massacre and death to the Jewish people.
The Palestianian people are being fed a constant lie to keep the terrorists and corrupt government in place and enjoying their beautiful condo’s in Quatar while their people starve and live in abject poverty.

Honestly, I personally don’t want to visit, and find out for myself if Hamas ideology is different from a person on the street.

Do they all want to slaughter Jews, homosexuals, non- believers … or is it just a few powerful Hamas who will suddenly decide hug a gay today, embrace non believers and give a thumbs up to a yarmulke…

The amount of media time given to his incoherent ramblings is insane. How did America come to this?

President Trump is a disruptor. Get over it!
He throws comments into the ring and waits for reactions. It’s entertaining and sometime reaps results ….
"In Los Angeles in 2028 my administration will not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes," Trump said.
HURRAH!!!
He has a lot of respect worldwide because people in power are having to deal with the unexpected and rethink their stance.

It’s just the lefty, woke, snowflake DEI supporting wankers that can’t handle the unexpected cos they’re used to having their own way.

Serpentstooth · 06/02/2025 10:24

Thanks I don't mean to spread anything but I know friends who have family there and it's really scary what world leaders are openly saying about ethnically cleansing them. They are all scared too. I can see Trump and others have tried to re-phrase it after the initial backlash but we all know once they leave then the chances of being allowed back is very slim.
It's very upsetting 😔

I thought atleast some of the higher up Israeli leaders would object but I can't see any who have. They all seem to be for it and that's even more concerning.

I hope they can see that Trump isn't doing this for Israel's benefit. He is doing this for his own benefit and can easily come after them too if he decides that now he has taken over Gaza, perhaps they don't need all this military aid anymore.

Well why is there no running water?
What repercussions are there for Israel, for turning Gaza into a demolition site with no running water and no sewerage system?

The point here is that Hamas are to blame for it being a pile of rubble. Had they released the hostages straight after Oct 7th, Israel would not have been fighting with Hamas. Hamas have prolonged this for over a year, and nothing has been achieved because they're now releasing hostages anyway. What was the point of it all?!
