Every day waking up to yet another insane declaration from Trump. America is losing the respect of the world

It's like a parallel universe - how did America come to this? So now he plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza we are told - to create the 'Riviera of the Middle East.' A golf course and hotels probably. The £2 million people can just go wherever. Wtf! AIBU to think America is imploding in on itself?

Didn't stop 77,284,118 voters, or 49.8 percent of the votes cast, electing him.

www.cfr.org/article/2024-election-numbers

No indeed not, but I suspect most didn't read it , alot couldnt read it, or understand it,
trump denied he knew anything about it ( in other words he lied 😧who knew he could do such a thing!!!!) and most magas didn't care so long as it wasn't a democrat, a woman, but especially not, a black one!🙄

There is apparently the question of some 3 million votes for KH that were marked as non viable ...but then that would mean that trumps team cheated 🥸 so that would be a no then. 🤫

@Patterncarmen yeeeeesh. Like Princess Diana's life wasn't already tragic enough. Christ. What a Prince (pun intended).

I agree. Last night I was listening to a podcast where they were analysing his announcements and trying to decide what his plan is. He hasn’t got a plan, he’s just spouting incoherent crap and lapping up all the attention. It’s not like US voters were not warned, did none of them ever watch one of his ‘speeches’ last time or during the election campaign? How are so many people so fucking gullible?

The problem is that most people (Americans, Brits, whatever) don’t actually care about politics or pay attention to it. I’m not saying that that is the right way to think, but it is a fact. People who care about politics pay attention, people who don’t care, don’t. Most Trump voters won’t have listened to his speeches, they get their “news” in 30 second bites - there’s a reason this was referred to as the Tik Tok Election.

But that's the whole problem with democracy isn't it. If you are not with the majority, you never have your voice heard and you never get your turn. The same people win every time. And so the frustration and sense of injustice rises.

Lighteningstrikes · 05/02/2025 22:26

@100A in your opinion - not everyone’s and certainly not the overwhelming majority that voted for him.

Adelstrop · 05/02/2025 17:37

I’m waiting for him to suggest that the population of England should be relocated to the Australian outback so that he can turn It into a giant golf course.

I thought similar!

Oh please.. that might work on the maga base but as far as I'm aware my brain still operates on a thinking basis.

How did that go ? ' Oopsie daisy well what do you know we just happen to have a 900 page document that details what we can implement in the first few weeks of your tenure. We've mentioned your name Mr trump about 90 times throughout it...isn't that just peachy ....and coincidental.' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Toddlerteaplease · 05/02/2025 22:29

Oh don’t exaggerate. Scotland would do. Shove the Scots into England ( keep some back for labour) and turn Scotland into a giant golf course for rich yanks. It’ll be beautiful, so beautiful. The Scottish riviera.

And in the opinion of most of the rest of the world. Except China and Russia

But it's not just America, Reform are riding high in the polls.

I'm genuinely terrified.

I'm not happy about this either, but perhaps if the US turns into a real shitshow it will have a calming effect on people who don't yet understand what Reform is about. Support for the EU has increased in pretty well every European country since Brexit because they have seen what the consequences are.

Ironically, the first past the post system works against Reform because their support is fairly evenly spread across the UK and they take votes from both Labour and the Tories. Labour only needs about 25% of the popular vote to get 100 seats, the Tories need about 30%, and Reform would need close to 35%. Also if they looked like getting close to that I would strongly hope for a Lib-Lab electoral pact (with whichever party came lower in 2024 not fielding a candidate) in a couple of hundred constituencies.

I must have missed that announcement … are the Palestinians getting rid of the Israelis???

He should invite them over to America to stay, purely on a temporary basis, of course, while he Makes Gaza Livable Again.

Another take on his 'landslide'.

Head and shoulders black and white picture of Donald Trump in suit and tie, with map of USA behind with stripes and stars overlaid over it

Just how big was Donald Trump’s election victory? - BBC News

The US president-elect has emphasised the scale of his win – but data shows that most voters picked someone else.

I wonder if the Arab Americans in Dearborn Michigan are patting themselves on the back for voting for Trump because Kamala was too close to “Genocide Joe”.

Also they seem to have forgotten Trump's Muslim Ban from his first term. People can have short memories.

every second post is a quote response - makes for a very arduous read. Ditto the links to newspaper articles.

YANBU OP. We are only a few weeks in and I'm trying to find ways to distance myself from the news.

To Americans saying that we shouldn't really be concerned - I am Irish, and we trade with USA. We are concerned. Tariffs would effect our economy. Plus I'm used to politicians speaking so carefully, whereas Trump is the opposite. But he stands over nothing he says.

The whole Mexico/Canada trade threats remind me of the nursery rhyme;

The Grand Old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men.
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And then he marched them down again.

And when they were up they were up.
And when they were down they were down.
And when they were only half way up,
They were neither up nor down.

Trump is a bully and an awful character on a personal level - his companies have been bankrupt 6 times. He is keeping federal minimum wage at $7.25 per hour. Everybody should work for peanuts, without social health care or access to union membership, whereas he wants to live in luxury and shirk any consequences for his actions.

I agree with him regarding biological males in womens sport and personal places (Dormitories, changing rooms) and abhor the Democrats view that you be whatever sex you wanted.

DearZebra · 05/02/2025 22:50

It sounds as though there are a lot of now-unemployed Democrats on this thread, smearing and fear mongering.
The normal Americans I have spoken to view him as a breath of fresh air.

NotTerfNorCis · 05/02/2025 22:51

It's hot air. Look what happened with the tariffs. Trump blustered and said some really stupid things that won't be forgotten; the markets got spooked; Trump backed down, pretending that things agreed months ago were new deals. He knows his thicker supporters will lap it up.

mawik · 05/02/2025 22:51

I wake up every morning hoping that the headlines on news are announcing that someone has managed to ‘delete’ the orange idiot and his followers!! What a total cockwomble!!

AllFurCoatAndFrillyKnickers · 05/02/2025 22:52

@Fairyliz
You think Australian weather is better than here?
They have terrible droughts and floods. It seems to be getting hotter and hotter there, and could be uninhabitable a few years down the line. No thanks.

ARealitycheck · 05/02/2025 22:52

Just started a thread saying the same before I saw this. I'd suggest as israel apparently aligns with the west regarding values, Trump takes all Israelis out and into America and leave Palestine to the Palestinians.

Convolvulus · 05/02/2025 22:53

It's going to be interesting when his supporters start feeling the real effects of his policies - as prices go up, they lose their jobs and their health insurance, they start getting more illnesses due to lack of vaccinations etc, women find themselves unable to get life-saving obstetric care, they can't find basic foods and goods in the shops etc etc. Put that into the mix with him trying to send an unwilling military off on stupid missions to invade other countries which are not supported by most of the US electorate, and you have a recipe for civil war.

He also had lots of teenage girls.
But nobody mentions them.

The normal Americans I have spoken to view him as a breath of fresh air.

They view it as a breath of fresh air that women of childbearing age won't be able to get essential lifesaving care if things go wrong in pregnancy? That basic healthcare is already becoming less available? That their children are going to be in even more danger of being shot than was previously the case?

What is wrong with them?
