Hate speech but not hate

Why is everything regarded as 'hate speech'. If I do not agree with your beliefs I don't hate you, I just don't agree. For example I believe in biological sex, not 'assigned gender or gender fluid or neither is gay or lesbian my thing but I don't hate anyone for their stance on it, neither would I be rude or harmful to them or wish to incite any harm to them, but why must my not having the same view be regarded as hate? I think the term hate speech is in itself inflammatory and hateful to both parties, agree or not?

What about people calling for attacks on hotels housings asylum seekers?

Where would they fall?

That’s inciting violence

No I said it's not my thing, I didn't say I don't agree with gay, I said its not my thing and never in any interaction would I say anything to make you feel bad. I don't agree with smoking but I don't hate smokers, I have friends of all sorts and family that are lesbian I don't hate them, I'm warm and kind to them I just have a different life view. That's the thing I'm saying, it's not hate speech to differ in opinion. In my family there are different faiths, smokers, lesbians but none of us feel there is hate because we hold different opinions. My point is why must it be labelled hate speech?
I wouldn't march against anything I didn't like, my view is that everyone has a right to choose their path but i think by using this 'hate speech' title for everything just stirs up contents.
To make the point before anyone says something else, obviously there is such a thing as hate speech for example actually attacking someone verbally for who they are but I think you know what I'm actually referring to in my first post. I will say it again though, I don't hate anyone and not having the same life view does not make me hateful.

Hi OP, I'm bi myself, I feel you're being given a hard time. But otoh your words are pretty ambiguous.
When you say being gay 'isn't your path' etc that's obvs fine, most people are not gay

. But then you compare it to smoking, which you don't agree with.

Then you say it's not that you don't agree but you have a different view...so you do disagree, presumably believing it's wrong?

Then you compare it to a gay person saying straight is not their thing. But if the gay person also said, as you did, that they didn't agree w being straight and had a different view, implying it was morally wrong, I'd say you could call them prejudiced, but not hetero phobic.

So are you essentially saying you think it's wrong morally you have a gay relationship but you wouldn't vote against any rights or anything?

If that is your opinion, I would say that is prejudiced, but not in the sense of hatred or fear. Is this your view though? It's not really clear.

If that is your view, I disagree strongly but it's definitely not hate speech & it's good you're not being unpleasant to anyone about it. You have the right to your opinion ofc.

Looking at your post history to get a clearer idea of your opinion: it appears (correct me if I am wrong) that you 'don't agree w homosexuality' and believe it is a choice. If this is your view, and I apologise if I have misunderstood, then I would say this is a prejudiced viewpoint. But you should be able to hold it and express this view.

Your comment about it being a choice presumably means that you don't agree with gay people's choice to have gay. Presumably you don't think having an attraction to the same sex is a choice itself? I always find it v odd when people say it's a choice, having gay relationships ofc is, but being gay or bi itself is not.

As to the trans issue, I completely agree w you. As I said, I do think you hold prejudiced views, if I interpreted them right, but you clearly don't want to hurt anyone's feelings etc ...this hate speech issue : did you make comments like this in public/at work or something? I wouldn't see the need to make comments about the immorality of being gay, (though you should be allowed to) it's not like gay relationships threaten any rights, but on the trans issue, it has recently, so I can get more why you would bring it up..
