Down with knickers!

The last time I bought knickers (Primark) after wearing them once before washing them I found after three washes the elastic had become so loose I've had to throw them away (thank god I wear jeans)! I did complain to the shop that they weren't fit for purpose and was told it wasn't their problem because they are not the makers!

Maybe buy better knickers?

BallerinaRadio · 01/02/2025 13:14

Primark selling poor quality clothes shocker!

HPandthelastwish · 01/02/2025 13:14

Don't buy from Primark, Next and M&S last ages even though quality is worse than years ago still far better than fast fashion stores.

midnightblackcat · 01/02/2025 13:15

What do you expect buying from Primark?!

Needmorelego · 01/02/2025 13:15

I buy mine (and for my husband and daughter) from Primark.
Never had a problem with them.

You'd hope for a few more than three washes!

Buy Sloggi. They never wear out.
Worth the expensive price tag.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/02/2025 13:22

Cheap comes out expensive.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 01/02/2025 13:23

Their comment was bollocks. They are the suppliers so the buck stops with them.

However I do agree with other posters that if you buy cheap you buy twice.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/02/2025 13:24

Asda knickers are good value, fit nice & last ages.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 01/02/2025 13:40

I hate Primark these days. Their customer service is shocking. And the clothes are all weird now too. Would rather shop anywhere else tbh, most supermarkets do reasonably priced good quality clothes.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 01/02/2025 14:08

Primark is literally the last place I'd buy underwear from.

Why?
I buy their underwear. It's nothing special but not terrible either.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 01/02/2025 14:30

Buy cheap buy twice.

I refuse to buy from Primark as the price point is so cheap I can only imagine the conditions under which the clothes are produced. However I'm aware that I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can choose.

I buy most of my knickers from British Boxers and they wash and wear brilliantly. I've also bought some knickers from M&S but the quality isn't as good.

Pianoaholic · 01/02/2025 14:31

I haven't found m & s packs of knickers much good recently. The quality has deteriorated, I have had to chuck some after a few wears as they went into holes!

Because they let people take it into the changing room to try on.

AuntieMarys · 01/02/2025 14:45

Wirarpa all the way

I agree! I’ve got ancient ones from M&S that I’ve been wearing for years, that are in better condition than the new ones I treated myself to at Christmas and have only worn a few times. Not happy!

Katemax82 · 01/02/2025 14:49

I always get my daughters knickers from Asda they're great and don't fall apart

TheAirfryerQueen · 01/02/2025 14:51

M&S last me ok, but as others say, it's better to save up for a better quality brand to get more wear out if them. It's better for your wallet & better for the environment.

MissyB1 · 01/02/2025 14:56

I buy M&S mainly because their hi leg style is so comfortable and covers my bum without riding up my crack! But sadly they only last 12 months max before they go out of shape. If I could find a better quality brand that would fit the same I would be happy.

Agreed

DistractMe · 01/02/2025 15:11

I buy Boody these days.

LeggyLinda · 01/02/2025 15:16

I agree with PPs who say “buy cheap pay twice”. You definitely get what you pay for in the main. I suppose it’s another case of it’s expensive to be poor. But I’d be tempted to go commando for a month rather than waste money on Primark underwear.

also, I know it’s not the point, but wearing knickers without putting them in a wash first would gross me out. Though I suppose if they only last 3 washes you sort of have to.

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/02/2025 15:19

My last lot from Tesco have been fantastic, and not expensive.
