This is mine,£285 and I wouldn't say it has been particularly cosy warm.

We set the thermo to 15 at night and up to 17 in the afternoon to take the chill off and get the radiators warmer.

This is for a 1930 three bed semi.

It isnt going to get better is it?

We've just moved house. I'm expecting about £250 for both which is fine. We are about £800 in credit and pay £175 dd.

Justwingingit2005 · 29/01/2025 17:50

Ours is 240 for electric and 140 for gas.
We have an ev so 60 of electric is for the car.
For gas, heating is on 4 hrs in morning and all evening. I wouldn't say weve felt toasty warm either!

foxandbee · 29/01/2025 17:53

Around £190 for gas and electric. Don't skimp on the heating, set to 18 during the day, 19-21(depending on how cold we feel) half five til 9. Off after that unless the temp drops below 14. 3 bed 1920s semi.

StartingOverInMy40s · 29/01/2025 17:56

£145 for a 3 bed and terraced house.

We use the tumble drier and put the heating on when we're cold so I'm pleased with that.

countdown64 · 29/01/2025 18:05

£340 for both. Gas heating on 3 hours in morning, 6 hours in afternoon/evening. No tumble dryer (optimistically hang clothes outside then put on airer by radiator). Run dehumidifier for a couple of hours a day. Three bed 1960s semi in south east, badly insulated. It gets cold in the afternoons before heating comes on, and I sometimes sneak it on early...

IkeaJesusChrist · 29/01/2025 18:09

£120 just for gas, 1970's three bed semi detached.

Thermostat set to 18 degrees.

Bignanna · 29/01/2025 17:10

That’s pretty good- who are you with?

It doesn’t really matter who you’re with, prices are much the same regardless of supplier. Octopus and Tomato smart tariffs are the main exceptions.

Itsjustnotthevibe · 29/01/2025 18:19

£73 for gas, £202 for electric but that did include £60 for charging 2 x EV's. Our summer bills last year were about half that cost so I am expecting the amount to go down significantly in March/April time.

ChillyB · 29/01/2025 18:21

£252.35 gas and electric, 4 bed detached.
Heating set on the thermostat at 17 degrees 5:30am-11:30pm and 14.5 degrees through the night. Not been cold I WFH.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 29/01/2025 18:23

I never look month by month as our usage is so so different throughout the year. Gas costs are only for 6 months max as we don't use any gas once heating goes off for spring/summer, just electric, so it evens itself out over the year.

We are always in debt by the end of winter, then back into credit by September

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 29/01/2025 18:26

Mine is coming in at around the £100 mark. The world's tinest two bedroom cottage, immersion tank rarely used (about twice a month, I boil kettles to wash up and have electric shower), heating put on around once a week to 17 degrees. No gas in the village. I cannot work out how it's so high! But then, it's been about £60 per month even in summer. I'm single and I'm out at work most evenings, and I don't think the dog is putting the heating on when I'm out...

PonkyPonky · 29/01/2025 18:27

£198 total. House was built in 1901 so it’s not a warm house. We only have the heating on for an hour in the morning then 3-7 in the evening. I’m really surprised people sleep with the heating on, it really dries my nose and mouth out and I get so hot once under the duvet even though the house gets down to about 13 degrees overnight.

SharpOpalNewt · 29/01/2025 18:28

About 300 - £150 on each. We have to have it on all day for my mum on colder days, but always turn it off at night.

mrspk · 29/01/2025 18:29

£315, fairly large 4 bedroom house. We have thermostat set to 14 overnight and through the day (when we are all out), normally turn it up to 17/18 for a few hours in the morning and evening. We've just had a brand new boiler too.

SoulMole · 29/01/2025 18:33

Bignanna · 29/01/2025 17:16

That sounds miserable!

You cut your cloth accordingly. I won't get into debt and heating has become a luxury.

ReignOfError · 29/01/2025 18:36

£164, £117 of which was gas (so heating), and we were away for five of the coldest days so it was on frost setting. Three bed semi, Midlands, retired, so home a fair bit.

Decafflatteplease · 29/01/2025 18:36

£300 here. We've had the heating on approx 5 hours a day, can't afford any more really. Victorian large house 12 foot ceilings so it never gets above 15/16 degrees this time of year anyway. Literally just burning money 😭

FruitPolos · 29/01/2025 18:46

About £150 for both.

Three bed detached, 1970s but with recent improvements to insulation, windows and new boiler.

Includes car charging. Have Octopus Go and run the tumble dryer dishwasher etc between 11.30pm and 5.30am when it's 7p per KwH.

CranfordScones · 29/01/2025 18:51

£55.70 for electricity, £15.60 for gas (incl standing charges) - no home generation. Very conscientious energy user.

aspidernamedfluffy · 29/01/2025 18:53

I'm on pre pay and pay £130 combined each month throughout the year. I still have over £300 total in credit. 2 bed bungalow with heating at 21degrees during the day and off at night. No tumble dryer or dishwasher though.

Skethylita · 29/01/2025 18:56

It will work out as around £180 dual fuel in a 3 bed 1950s terrace.

Heating on 12-14 at night and 18.5-19.5 during the day, weather dependent (I have to put the heating on more on rainy days as it gets very damp).

MyUmberSeal · 29/01/2025 18:57

£183 from dec 26th to jan 26th. 3 bed semi, thermostat set to 21 during the day and 16 during the night. EDF variable rate. Think that’s pretty reasonable all things considered.

Shadesofscarlett · 29/01/2025 18:58

I am on Octopus Tracker - £87 for both. 3 bed semi new build.

Ifeelabnormal · 29/01/2025 18:58

£45 electricity
£40 gas

I live in a ground floor flat and it's well insulated. I have thermostat on 19.

houserenohelp · 29/01/2025 19:01

I'm
On about £200 a month new build 4 bed detached with solar and heat pump all electric heating set to 19 all day and 18 at night
