Just that! I had such a great run and now I seem to have hit a wall. Do you use the same one every time? Do you ever use pen and paper alongside? It's cheeky I know I'm being unreasonable I'm also just curious!

Also ADIEU. I think back when wordle began it was touted as a strong starter word. Seems a lot of us are using it. Second word varies depending on result of first but will always contain O. I think getting the vowels is the key. I'm on an 86 day streak. Previous best streak was 109. It was a dark day when I lost that.

Solocatmum · 26/01/2025 14:09

I focus on lowest scrabble points to pick up most commonly used letters.

So tend to start with TEARS and then might go for DOING if tears was a blank.

Adieu and then pilot to cover the vowels

Mine is adieu then short

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 26/01/2025 14:09

I vary it as long as I cover all vowels plus y in the first two guesses.

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 26/01/2025 14:09

Usually random, based on the first five letter words I hear spoken on the Today programme when I wake up.
Wordle is also the first thing shared with a few family members and friends every day. It's our check in. Love Wordle so much. And Strands and less so Connections which is excellent but sometimes very frustrating!

StormingNorman · 26/01/2025 14:09

Raise
Pouty

Clears out all the vowels plus y (substitute vowel) and some of the most frequently used consonants.

Pebbles16 · 26/01/2025 14:09

HOUSE then PLAIT (depending on what comes up from HOUSE)

alibongo5 · 26/01/2025 13:59

I always start with stare as it's got the most common letters in it. If none of those are in the word, my second word is pound. I'm on a good streak of 88 at the moment, including stare coming up so getting it in one!

I used to start with STARE but it was the word recently so I'm trying different things now.

AScoundrel · 26/01/2025 14:12

MOUSE followed by THING if there is nothing from the first word. It is a
a tortoise rather than hare word (if you want the latter go for STARE or LATER) but it’s served me well.

I currently have a streak of 512. It would be higher but I left my phone in a taxi 513 days ago 😂

AScoundrel · 26/01/2025 14:18

just FYI if you use MOUSE it has been the answer so you’ll never get it in one but I just can’t bring myself to change it now!!

DappledThings · 26/01/2025 14:19

I do Quordle first then use whichever of those 4 words has the most vowels for that day's Wordle starting word

Therealmetherealme · 26/01/2025 14:20

Crane then toils/pilot/spilt. I can never decide between getting the correct position of letters and ruling out other letters.

Adieu and then pilot to cover the vowels

Just moved from adieu to stare and my average has dropped from 4 to 3 over the last two weeks

Edinvillian · 26/01/2025 14:24

Mine has always been stare. It finally came up about a month ago!

PointsSouth · 26/01/2025 14:26

STEAD

titchy · 26/01/2025 14:27

Raise, then touch

Mischance · 26/01/2025 14:29

abuse, then point.

maximist · 26/01/2025 14:30

I used to start with stare too, until I got it in one. Now I use tears - same letters, different order. Stare must have been a common first word as I saw quite a few people getting it in one that day.

WonderingAboutThus · 26/01/2025 14:35

My first word is random and often not at all strategic.

Apmraea · 26/01/2025 14:41

I start with Raise and if no success my second word is always Tough.

MammaTill2Pojkar · 26/01/2025 14:44

HEARS, then POINT, then DUCKY. That gets 15 different letters and all vowels plus y out of the way, if I haven't hit many/enough correct letters by then I try FLAME or BLAME next for another 3 different letters.

LiarAtAWitchTrial · 26/01/2025 14:49

I use 'teach'. I tried adieu for a while but it wasn't working for me. I started using 'cheat' instead, then I swapped it to 'teach'. All the same letters, but a nicer word.

pointythings · 26/01/2025 14:50

I don't have one. I do the NYT Mini crossword and then use a word from there - that's a personal rule, makes it more challenging.

itsallbowlsbaby · 26/01/2025 14:50

IRATE

UnusuallyBuoyantTeabag · 26/01/2025 14:52

STAND
CHOIR
PLUME

Unless it's worth having a guess somewhere in between those
