Ignore the poll - I don't know how to disable it!

Was chatting to a chum and she said she loved starting the weekend with a cup of tea in bed with her DH.

Not us! DH brings me a coffee then goes downstairs to have his whilst reading his book.

I scroll mindlessly through MN. What about you?

(I never say chum or cuppa in RL!)

Well I don't drink tea or coffee, so that rules it out, but in any case DH and I swap off who gets up with DD every day. Means we both get a lie in bed at the weekend. DH brings me waffles in bed, I bring him a big cup of tea.

Really? I always think of a cuppa as specifically tea (although I don't say it). For some reason I'd mostly say 'a cup of tea', but just 'a coffee' rather than 'a cup of coffee'. Maybe that's just me though!

Maybe it's regional, but I've found it's the standard word for either in workplaces or with friends. Eg "who wants a cuppa" if putting the kettle on and people will say either "yeah ill have a tea/coffee". Basically a quick way of finding out how many cups are needed and how much water to put on.

I see it as mainly being tea, but both can be understood, in the same way that if someone asks me to go for coffee with them I agree, even though I'll be having a cup of tea.

I mean I enjoy living a varied life but if routine is what does it for you more power to you.

You can live a "varied life" having had your usual morning cup of tea y'know...🤣
