Posting for traffic.

I'm on 3, DF is on Giff Gaff. Down detector says both networks are reporting issues in the last half hour or so.

Anyone else?

I can't call my Dad - it either doesn't connect or kucks me straight off - he can call me but it's not coming through until he leaves a voicemail - not ringing my end but I get voicemail notification.

Texts are sketchy.

I've had terrible issues this afternoon, needed to speak to relative and it just wouldn't work; am on smarty and in the NW.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 17:09

I'm starting to lean towards cyber hacking, and doubt it's just a few thousand affected. It's countrywide and affecting subsidiary networks. They're getting stats from down detector but not everyone is going to report on there.

I'm waiting for calls about an elderly relative in a care home some distance from me about pretty serious issues and am getting pretty frustrated.

It's going on way too long and lack of information is doing my head in.

Northern Ireland here -I'm the same

They’ve got a fault and there on with it
IT things are often difficult to give a time scale
don’t really know what more they can do or tell you

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 17:20

Maybe explain what the fault is?

Bugger, bugger, bugger.... I spent two hours trying to work out why my S24 ultra (which updated overnight) wasn't making or receiving calls - iD network on 3. Bugger, bugger, bugger... if mumsnet wasn't also so bloody ropey that I haven't been on site because of the damn thing falling over every two minutes I would have known and saved myself hours of futile testing everything stuff. Did I mention bugger, bugger, bugger.....?

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 17:26

Ah bless you x I feel your pain.

Just seen some suggestions on Tech radar that 999 calls may also be affected, which takes things to a whole new level of urgency if true.

Just goes to show how reliant we have become on the things. I moved house recently and hummed and hahed about the landline as I didn't have a phone. Thank god I decided to get one - at least I have a connection to the outside world. No knowledge about when it will be back, storm approaching and disabled. I'm off to check my flashlight now....😀

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 17:43

I am seriously regretting not having a landlines right now but economics dictated mobile was the "better" choice.

Hope you're OK- given storm etc it is worrying and could be very difficult for some if the 999 bit is accurate. Take care lovely x

I'm refreshing down detector like a mad woman hoping for updates.

Me too! How long did it take you to find the gadget thingy or something else to get it out???? Gadget thingy lost somewhere in the house move. Who has paperclips these days (not me). Eventually figured out that spare earring finding would do it.

fizzypop100 · 23/01/2025 18:11

And ID mobile

HopingForTheBest25 · 23/01/2025 18:16

Am on ID mobile in south wales - no signal here either!

ClaireUnderwoodforPresident · 23/01/2025 18:19

ID mobile Northern Ireland - no calls in or out! Angry

JohnTheRevelator · 23/01/2025 18:22

My friend is on the Three network and she told me she was having issues with receiving and making calls. She thought it was a problem with her phone at first, but when she went into the Three mobile phone shop and asked, they said the network was down across the entire country.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 18:25

It's coming on for six hours now. An explanation from 3 would just be polite I think.

Nat6999 · 23/01/2025 18:27

I had problems earlier, thought my phone had packed up, did all the usual things & no better, took 2 hours to start working.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 18:35

Reports are creeping up on Down Detector again. Worth registering your issue to keep it on the radar although I am having trouble registering with Disqus. I suspect there might be some overload from people trying to register. I just want some idea of what the issue is and why it's taking so long to resolve. A stark lesson in the fragility of tech.

PitchforksAndProof · 23/01/2025 18:41

I'm on Three. I haven't been able to make a call since midday. It's not working for the DC either. DH is on Three too but it's working ok for him.

I do think Three could pull their finger out and send us some sort of update. They've managed to send me a message about how to avoid fraud.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 18:43

My Dad just tried again to call me. It actually rang but then dead silence when I answered. WTF is going on Three????

OP posts:
Showrr · 23/01/2025 18:44

Yes ID down here, Midlands, no calls all afternoon, two voice messages which I suspect were GP calls but can't access voicemail

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/01/2025 18:47

It's maddening isn't it? And mopping up the mess of missed important calls etc will cause quite a bit of inconvenience, and there could be some serious consequences if stuff is urgent.

Three really need to issue some sort of update.
