@TinklySnail did you miss the bit where i said if he was attacked in prison he would be given compensation paid out of tax payer money.
He will be totally segregated at all times for this and many other reasons.

They'll get him. I've no doubt. You know the prison officers turn a blind eye, right? So many high profile prisoners get attacked.

That peadophile who abused girls in Asia is a good example. Prisoners will see it as an ambition to get him.

Nope. I am quite happy for some expensive karma to come his way.
Unless they’re going to do a Maudsley, he will undoubtedly have some interaction with others.

Lou670 · 23/01/2025 16:37

@JessiesJ99 Not happened to Wayne Couzens yet unfortunately.

Jacopo · 23/01/2025 16:37

So the sentence was delivered in his absence. Someone will have the job of telling him what the sentence is.
I hope they do so as briefly and unsympathetically as possible.

Spudstogo · 23/01/2025 16:38

Spare a thought for the team of prison officers who now have to care for him!
There will be some very unhappy officers at this very moment.

Igotjelly · 23/01/2025 16:38

A minimum term of 52 years is a lot! Thank goodness for that.

Emilyjayne9421 · 23/01/2025 16:38

As much as I would’ve loved for the sentence to be 5 minutes in a room with all the parents, I respect the judge for doing what he could. May the evil sick f never be released. I’ve been crying on and off all day for those poor parents and survivors.

Exactly. And the guys that do it will get a lot of respect.

True, but he was a copper (prison officers will have more time for him). And he didn't murder children. A man who killed 3 children in this way? I don't fancy his chances in there.

Lou670 · 23/01/2025 16:42

@Spudstogo they are used to dealing with all kinds in there and it just becomes part of the job. I guess they have to detach from it otherwise they wouldn't be able to do that role.

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 23/01/2025 16:42

What if the internet hadn't existed? Wouldn't have happened. would it?

IHateBakedBeans · 23/01/2025 16:42

I doubt officers have more time for cousins...

Im not a violent person but I hope the time people like him and other child murderers are in is miserable and full of fear.

IHateBakedBeans · 23/01/2025 16:43

*couzens. Sorry.

The prison officers will be deciding who gets to do the first kicking probably.

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 23/01/2025 16:44

Will he go to prison or young offenders?

I can recommend this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inside-Wakefield-Prison-Monster-Mansion/dp/1789467535?dplnkId=faa07b3d-2cd8-49ca-8752-ed3bc134743c if you're interested in hearing the side of prison officers and how they cope with the prisoners and their crimes. (and what happens when things do go wrong inside and someone is hurt or hurts themselves). It was a very interesting read!

TealSwan · 23/01/2025 16:47

Quick job bullet to back of his head saves the taxpayers money.... Them poor girls and the others absolutely heartbreaking 😭

SerafinasGoose · 23/01/2025 16:48

A good sentence. Given his age at the time of the offence this is better than I was expecting. Reading between the lines of the judge's statement, he's never coming out.

The scenes reported in the news today are horrendous. News broadcasters in tears, an outline of what was contained in the video footage with the poor child trying to escape: just harrowing. Aside from the judge's end comments on tariffs, the headlines springing up everywhere are as much as I need to see. Nothing could persuade me to read the full content.

We have a sick cultural malady of VAWG and somehow it needs to be addressed. I have no idea how, given how deeply entrenched, internalised, and systemic misogyny is. And after a small reprieve I believe it's been getting even worse over the past 15-or-so years.

And this is where that leads. It's only when a horrific, highly-publicised case like this one hits headlines that society or the media seems to care.

wonderblocks · 23/01/2025 16:48

“There was a girl lying on the ground with the same clothes as his daughter but her injuries were so severe he did not recognise her,” Deer said of the girl’s father. “He had to ask this little girl if she had a brother, and what his name was. She answered.”

That has just broken me. Full on sobbing. I hope he gets the same treatment. I don't care about what the people who say violence doesn't make it better think, I'm sure it's make those poor little defenceless children's families feel better !!
Normal people whose kids suffer like that would do it themselves i'm sure !

What happened to making them listen to their sentence?! I thought that was supposed to be being introduced
