No doubt he will magically turn into a 'woman' too before sentencing. That photo of him is absolutely spinechilling. How awful to think that he will NOT be spending the whole of his life in prison. Yet again our crappy justice system shows how unfit it is.

Given he's being sentenced right now, I'm not entirely sure that'll happen.

Why is it that mentally ill women dont usually attack others? Just men?

I read the proceedings and they are just horrific. This man should never see the light of day.

Some do there was a horrific case near me when a psychotic young women stabbed a child to death in a park in the early days of the pandemic completely random attack
I assume hes been assserd ,though and doesnt have a mental illness

There is reporting his parents have said he planned to commit a massacre at his old school and he tried to but they stopped him. So if he said that, surely he could have been locked up? People were locked up for less in terms of the riots. I'm not saying they shouldn't have been locked up - but this boy had much clearer intent to harm than the woman who was locked up for a racist tweet (that she deleted after 2 hours) and he had weapons too - machetes etc.

I sat on the jury for a person who was convinced for Intent to Commit An Act of Terrorism on the basis of their diary entries, purchased chemicals and accessing terrorist handbooks. I personally felt that they were highly unlikely to have actually carried out those crimes (they were a severe agoraphobic for one thing).

So yes, he probably could have had charges brought against him earlier.

Phthia · 23/01/2025 15:11

HellsBalls · 23/01/2025 15:09

He had the Jihadi terrorist book though, so could be on the turn.

And he had anti-Islamic material, so maybe not.

Guttedandblue · 23/01/2025 13:41

Are people prepared to pay higher taxes to ramp up all the public services that are lacking at the moment?

Yes.

WillimNot · 23/01/2025 15:12

murasaki · 23/01/2025 15:06

Hes not Muslim.

I give it a week before he converts, after all he had terror manuals which guided him on how to stab mass victims.

The sad fact is, animals like this are on special wings where hard criminals who should be able to impose their own justice can't get to him.

Mores the pity.

He won't just be given food and warmth not afforded to the likes of you and I when times are tough, he will have soft prison wardens keeping him safe from harm all paid for by you and I.

Yet we can't give winter fuel payments to pensioners and our front line services are on their last legs.

When will we all realise that we are being mugged off. The new government is on par with the last for uselessness. You can do any enquiry you like but it won't mean those children won't have been murdered, the rest scarred for life. It won't stop it happening again because it will.

How many more?

NameChangedOfc · 23/01/2025 15:12

Galatine · 23/01/2025 12:31

Even hardened criminals will have little sympathy for someone like him. Let’s hope he lives a very long time and has to spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.

Hear hear

hobbledyhoy · 23/01/2025 15:13

I sincerely hope the real justice comes to
him in a quiet corner of the prison.

That may make me a terrible person but every time I think of those poor children it makes me ill. That bastard should be skinned alive.

You bet, I am a pensioner

People always say that at times like this, and whilst I wouldn’t mind at all if that were the case, is it actually true and does it actually happen? I mean, they’re all criminals, some worse than others obviously, but I imagine he won’t be locked up with Jeff who does a little bit of dodgy dealing down the Roman. He’ll be kept away?

This case has had so much publicity I suspect it will be a question of just how quickly it will happen as he’ll be a prime target inside prison.

I guess we have a different understanding of cushy.

What would yours be then? If it’s an accurate description then it sounds pretty cushy to me

Phthia · 23/01/2025 15:14

legalimmigrant · 23/01/2025 14:50

Yes, targeted because women and girls - anti-female terrorism needs to be named.

The government clearly don't want this to be terrorism but it is.

Given that he may have originally intended to carry out the attack in his old mixed sex school, I'm not sure this was necessarily anti-female.

Unpaidviewer · 23/01/2025 15:15

The lack of empathy for a child who is obviously mentally disturbed is awful but alot of you were in threads feeling sorry for that baby killer Lucy Letby. Interesting.

I think he should get the same sentence as the guys that murdered James Bulger. With intense therapy.

It's a sad case but murders happen all the time, my focus is on all families who have lost their children

James Bulgers murderer were far younger, were they both 10 at the time? I don't think a 17 year old should be entitled to the same treatment.

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 23/01/2025 15:18

I hope the judge tells him that he would have got a whole life tariff, if he had been 13 days older.

Cara707 · 23/01/2025 15:18

What he did was horrifying and tragic.

I do though, think that he is mentally disturbed rather than just evil.

Teddybear23 · 23/01/2025 15:20

Who are the 7%? Obviously they can’t be aware of how bad this mad is and what he’s done - if they do then something must be seriously wrong with them.

Clearly just an inflammatory post. The sentence for James Bulger’s murderers is a good argument for the fact it was completely inadequate. And “it’s a sad case but murders happen all the time”? You want to talk about empathy?

Saschka · 23/01/2025 15:21

MorrisZapp · 23/01/2025 14:27

What would 'stopping' this boy look like? You can't lock people up for crimes they haven't committed.

Genuinely, maybe that should be looked at for this sort of kid, who is already violent and obviously going to go on to major offending. Some sort of therapeutic residential placement.

Would be hellishly expensive and I don’t know if there’s any evidence it would work. Borstals certainly didn’t work, young offenders institutes don’t.

He will have Been assessed to establish wether he has a mental illness or not.

HellsBalls · 23/01/2025 15:09

He had the Jihadi terrorist book though, so could be on the turn.

He also had a book on Hitler and materials on the IRA. If he wanted to becone muslim he would have a Qu’ran.

He just had information on terror organisations not anything faith based.

Phthia · 23/01/2025 15:23

People who are gleefully anticipating AR's fellow prisoners beating him up: have you thought about the reality of this? If we condone violence amongst prisoners, what we are condoning is AR being able to take out his own violent urges against other prisoners and generally have a lovely time doing so. Why would you want that? I want him locked up for years in a situation where he has zero opportunity for violence or to see violence so that his urges remain wholly unsatisfied, and where he receives whatever treatment he needs to remove those urges.

Portakalkedi · 23/01/2025 15:23

I'm so sick of this - murderers, rapists and violent criminals claiming to have 'mental health' issues or having suffered from childhood abuse, in order to get a lighter sentence. I know these are of course real issues for some, and is indeed tragic, but the vast majority of those affected do not go on to rape, murder and torture people. Some people are just evil bastards, unfortunately for the rest of us. I can't help thinking they should forcefeed him if necessary to continue with the case, then after sentencing let him carry on if he wishes. He should also be made to be present in court when required. FFS our justice system is shit, letting people decide if they do or don't want to appear to face charges. It's a fucking farce.

”Cushy” describes an environment I would like to spend time in.

Nothing about that sounded like I would want to be there.
