Should she replace it? SHE RETURNED IT!

Goodness me. I can’t believe I am back with an update. After starting the small claims process, look what turned up on my doorstep today! My Dyson Airwrap!!!

I hadn’t heard a single peep from my friend since my last updates on the previous thread.

What a shock I got when I got a notification from my ring doorbell this afternoon saying there was person at my front door. I checked and it was my friend sheepishly dropping a bag on my doorstep!

I was at work and knew I wasn’t going to be home for a few more hours. I sent my neighbour a text message asking her to take it in. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to see what she had dropped off 🤣 was it the original? Was it a brand new replacement? Was it the £150 replacement from Facebook?

When I got home and checked it out it appeared to be my original airwrap. I tested it and it worked just fine (so much for the sister spilling the wine!) and I checked the serial number and it definitely is mine!

What an absolute rollercoaster! I wasn’t sure if I should text my friend acknowledging the eventual return of the airwrap or not?

My friend asked if she could borrow my Dyson airwrap for her wedding as money was tight and she couldn’t afford a hairdresser. It was a small wedding...

Yabadabadu · 22/01/2025 21:14

I called it from day one. That thief obviously stole it. I hope you delete her from your existence. Vile thieving lying bitch.

ChristmasFairy2024 · 22/01/2025 21:16

I’d be betting her husband has no idea!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 22/01/2025 21:17

I'm so glad you got it back.

Actually, now I'm here, I wondered if I might borrow it. I've always wanted to have a go at a Scarlett O'Hara hairdo, but my Pifco Queen Curl just doesn't seem up to the job. 🫤

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/01/2025 21:17

Well that was the update I wasn't expecting! What an absolutely fucking tea leaf! So glad you got it back. I'd tell everybody 🤷🏻‍♀️

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 22/01/2025 21:19

Kingsleadhat · 22/01/2025 21:13

And that's a wrap

Oh bravo 👏🏻

Yabadabadu · 22/01/2025 21:19

Also I hope you expose the thieving bitch to all your friends.
A- because she deserves it
B- so she doesn’t steal from them either.

ThePoshUns · 22/01/2025 21:20

What a thieving cow! It was lucky that no one stole it off your doorstep. Make sure to fully check it all works.
If not continue your legal action against her.

Sugargliderwombat · 22/01/2025 21:24

Love an update haha - I wonder if she just got it repaired?

Crazybaby123 · 22/01/2025 21:25

O M G this is not the ending I expected. Turn this into a book OP. It truly is epic.

XWKD · 22/01/2025 21:28

The cheeky fucking bitch.

pictoosh · 22/01/2025 21:28

Ha ha...have to say I feel the same. Wasn't expecting the working original to turn up but oh my god the thieving twat. And all the lies. HOW embarrassing. Tell everyone.

buzz91 · 22/01/2025 21:30

Also assume she got it repaired, maybe she saw the post on the other thread about it being £99 for a fix and thought she’d save herself some money - but was too wimpy to tell you so she just waited out Dyson returning it.
I look forward to the follow up thread from her sister “Sister lied to friend and then stole from me: I accidentally broke sisters friends Dyson airwrap, originally my sister lied to her friend about what happened, but eventually her friend found out the truth. I managed to scrape together the money to replace it like the friend asked and gave it to my sister to hand over. Turns out she sent it back to Dyson to fix for much less money and pocketed the rest. AIBU to think she’s a cheeky thieving cow?!”

DanceMumTaxi · 22/01/2025 21:33

Wow never expected this update.

PrinceYakimov · 22/01/2025 21:34

I've just read all the threads slack-jawed at the cheekyfuckery. I particularly enjoyed how she couldn't even be bothered to make sure you got it back safely

Great hair is forever, OP, and worth losing a friend who was a biatch anyway for

MumsnetHQ please put this in Classics!

WellsAndThistles · 22/01/2025 21:35

Omg, totally knew she had nicked them but the brass neck!

Wonder what her sister and DH think of having a thief in the family.

Not sure I could keep my gob shut if wider friends ask why you are no longer friends with that lowlife.

Oodlesandoodlesofnoodles · 22/01/2025 21:36

The story about leaving it in the hotel, and then the story about her sister and the wine! She’s a massive liar.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/01/2025 21:39

I think you should do a Miss Piggy hair flick and karate chop if you see her again.

CustardySergeant · 22/01/2025 21:43

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 22/01/2025 21:02

I have just read OP’s other threads.
if the friends sister spilled wine on it and broke it, how was the friend able to return the air wrap in a workable condition? Unless she lied that it was broken and stole it then decided to return it?

Of course she lied about it getting broken etc.! She'd simply stolen it.

Tortielady · 22/01/2025 21:43

Not only did she try to steal something that wasn't hers, she seemed quite happy to throw the hotel staff, her sister, her DH, Larry the Downing Street Cat and next door's budgie under a bus so as to escape accountability for her misdeeds. The OP's response is up to her, but I'd personally cut this creature dead in public for behaviour like that.

Ceecee2422 · 22/01/2025 21:43

I wouldn’t text her the cheeky cow! Unless it’s saying ‘good riddance you thieving scumbag’ lol

Daftapath · 22/01/2025 21:45

So ... does it smell of wine?

CrowleyKitten · 22/01/2025 21:45

AMAZING!

BusyMum47 · 22/01/2025 21:48

@Langarg

What a truly awful person she is! So she abused your good nature in lending it to her in the 1st place & then just thought she'd try blatantly stealing it from you? Bitch!!

You're a much better person than me - I would 100% tell ALL of our mutual friends & wouldn't be able to resist sending her some sort of angry sarcastic message, calling her out!!

LasagneLasagne · 22/01/2025 21:48

You definitely need to smugly flick your perfectly styled hair if you pass her in the street.
She's a cheeky bitch. And was probably planning to swipe it back off your doorstep had you not asked your neighbour to take it in.

Mowglimonkey · 22/01/2025 21:50

The cheek of her!! This thread has lived rent free in my head. I've been wondering if you'd ever get it back!
