Should she replace it? SHE RETURNED IT!

Goodness me. I can’t believe I am back with an update. After starting the small claims process, look what turned up on my doorstep today! My Dyson Airwrap!!!

I hadn’t heard a single peep from my friend since my last updates on the previous thread.

What a shock I got when I got a notification from my ring doorbell this afternoon saying there was person at my front door. I checked and it was my friend sheepishly dropping a bag on my doorstep!

I was at work and knew I wasn’t going to be home for a few more hours. I sent my neighbour a text message asking her to take it in. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to see what she had dropped off 🤣 was it the original? Was it a brand new replacement? Was it the £150 replacement from Facebook?

When I got home and checked it out it appeared to be my original airwrap. I tested it and it worked just fine (so much for the sister spilling the wine!) and I checked the serial number and it definitely is mine!

What an absolute rollercoaster! I wasn’t sure if I should text my friend acknowledging the eventual return of the airwrap or not?

My friend asked if she could borrow my Dyson airwrap for her wedding as money was tight and she couldn’t afford a hairdresser. It was a small wedding...

OP posts:
pictoosh · 23/01/2025 07:13

and and AND...remember how she told you she valued you as a friend but you'd taken the shine off her wedding by asking for your Airwrap back.

Despicable, manipulative, greedy bitch.

Walkerzoo · 23/01/2025 07:17

Absolutely dump her. So glad you updated us

GreenYellowBrown · 23/01/2025 07:23

Has anyone copied in the Daily Mail? Might be time to email them your Ring doorbell footage. They’d blooming love it 😂 😂

TwistedWonder · 23/01/2025 07:24

Langarg · 22/01/2025 22:35

a musical was suggested in the previous thread! The role of the blue carpet and the glass of wine have already been cast 🤣 still looking for a name for the production though!

How about Wrappers Delight?

*Probably just aged myself there 🤣

MalbecandToast · 23/01/2025 07:25

Absolutely unbelievable! So glad you have it back OP but gobsmacked at the gall of your friend!

Shortpoet · 23/01/2025 07:28

I think it is a must that you tell mutuals what happened.

Shes absolutely the type to start spreading poison about you to others behind your back. She won’t mention the air wrap of course. It will be a silent campaign against you, until you wonder why you’re suddenly being ostracised.

There’s this weird phenomenon, where once a group of friends hears something negative about another friend and goes along with it by subtly not including them anymore, that even when they find out it was a lie, it’s hard to go back to the close friendship they had before the lie.

This is not a person who plays fair. She will try and get her lies in first.

You don’t have to to tell everyone. Just tell one person what happened, do that so your truth is there before the lie.

PollyPeeves · 23/01/2025 07:29

Wow! I'm sure you must be happy to have it back - I don't think you should text her for anything other than clarity around it's condition (I know you said it was working fine) but the last she told you it was completely broken!
She's told so many tall tales around this, she owes you an explaination of exactly wtf went on here.... what a cf!!

Therealjudgejudy · 23/01/2025 07:32

Thanks for the update op!

She is some piece of work...

arcticpandas · 23/01/2025 07:34

@Langarg Please don't tell her you got it back. Let her wonder if somebody took it since she just dropped it outside your door. What a careless thing to do but she does have form, doesn't she? Let her stew wondering when you don't get back to her.

If I were you I wouldn't ever talk to her again. Thanks for the update, we are many who waited for it..#dysongate officially closed. Now I'm just waiting for an update from party bag mum🤣

LaurieFairyCake · 23/01/2025 07:41

Wonder if you'll get a message that miraculously it was at the hotel when she went there Hmm

Flatandhappy · 23/01/2025 07:44

So she is just a common little thief. Glad you got it back (I have followed your threads), but she really is scum and I would find it hard not to let people know.

Stifledlife · 23/01/2025 07:49

Did she have fabulous hair when you saw her dropping it off?

Machya · 23/01/2025 07:52

GreenYellowBrown · 23/01/2025 07:23

Now you are talking.
Excellent idea.

A great story for the Daily Mail...

As @pictoosh mention, the link for a cheap replacement, accusation that she had spoiled the wedding......all lies.
I would be livid.
No way would I keep that to myself.
All texts would be shown...with video evidence of its returned after the smalls claim court was mentioned.

Her new husbands family might appreciate the heads up too.

How anyone can think it a good idea to keep such scummy behaviour to herself is beyond me.

Talk about the dregs of society.

Turnthelightoff · 23/01/2025 07:52

I’ve followed this whole thread and OP you are wonderful. Importantly re: the musical, my name suggestion would be ‘wrapped up.’ Then re: you’re awful ex-friend, in theory you should be asking her why she has delivered your original airwrap (you’ve checked the serial number) if it’s wine damaged? This shouldn’t make up for everything, you deserve a fully functioning one? I know you know it was a lie and what you’re doing in just leaving it is the right thing to do but it’s just one of the things that crossed my mind.

abs12 · 23/01/2025 08:20

Crikey! If only that airwrap could talk...

Great news OP!

AllEndeavour · 23/01/2025 08:21

Unfortunately if OP tries to bring this up to mutual friends etc it is likely to backfire. Who knows what this CF woman has already started telling people to plant the seed of her victimhood.

She has no shame, and has no problem throwing people under the bus. I won't list the stuff she could say to twist this as I don't want to give CF ideas, but it is best to not provoke her, move on but keep all the evidence just in case.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 23/01/2025 08:24

I’ve just watched last night’s Traitors and to be fair this is getting equal billing.
The initial steal.
Hotel carpet-gate.
The wine whine.
The removal of shine accusation.
The stone cold silence.
The possible husband betrayal in first week of marriage.
The SIL recruitment.
The final cloaked return.
@Langarg you have been an Dyson Faithful all along but you played the Wrapping Traitor like a fine banjo.
Throw a cup of water in the air, and rejoice in this good hair day!

Ginnnny · 23/01/2025 08:25

I was just thinking about this yesterday as I looked at new hairdryers 😂
SO glad you got this back, OP, hope you're not sad about losing the friend - if you can call her that. Honestly, what a cheeky cheeky fucker!!

TwistedWonder · 23/01/2025 08:35

Thanks to these threads I’m now £449 lighter as I couldn’t resist buying an air wrap - though Very doing them on 12 months interest free credit so £37 a month softens the blow

Kitchensinktoday · 23/01/2025 08:39

Wow - I wasn't expecting this sort of update, but thanks so much for coming back OP!

I may be tempted to mention this to any mutual friends, just in case she gets in there first (and as honesty isn't one of her qualities, I dread to think what she might say)?

handsdownthebest · 23/01/2025 08:42

LittleRedRidingHoody · 22/01/2025 20:01

Fucking hell! The cheek of lying so much when she had it in the first place!!

Do you think there's a chance she may have had it repaired?

Heck no…it was never broken. Thought she would get away with keeping it until the OP started the small claims process. CF and shit friend all the way.

Quinlan · 23/01/2025 08:51

My worry would be that, if it really was broken and she wasn’t just trying to steal it, she may have had it repaired at some random electrical repair service. It would mean your warranty won’t be good, and if anything happens or it breaks again, Dyson won’t sort the repair.

Either it was broken and she has fixed it, or she was lying entirely and just trying to steal it because she hoped you’d say, “sorry to hear it got lost, never mind.” And she’d get it for free.

coldscottishmum · 23/01/2025 09:01

I was far too invested in the last thread - I’m still not finished reading it all! I’m so glad you got it back. It does appear she was hoping to keep it - so cheeky! I would ditch this friend OP.

rainbowstardrops · 23/01/2025 09:04

Hahaha, she had stolen it like we all said on your other thread!!!! What a cheeky mare!
Good luck to her new husband if this is how she treats people close to her!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 23/01/2025 09:12

Langarg · 22/01/2025 22:35

a musical was suggested in the previous thread! The role of the blue carpet and the glass of wine have already been cast 🤣 still looking for a name for the production though!

Clearly it should be named ‘Put That Thing Back Where It Came From, Or So Help Me!’
