Should she replace it? SHE RETURNED IT!

Goodness me. I can’t believe I am back with an update. After starting the small claims process, look what turned up on my doorstep today! My Dyson Airwrap!!!

I hadn’t heard a single peep from my friend since my last updates on the previous thread.

What a shock I got when I got a notification from my ring doorbell this afternoon saying there was person at my front door. I checked and it was my friend sheepishly dropping a bag on my doorstep!

I was at work and knew I wasn’t going to be home for a few more hours. I sent my neighbour a text message asking her to take it in. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to see what she had dropped off 🤣 was it the original? Was it a brand new replacement? Was it the £150 replacement from Facebook?

When I got home and checked it out it appeared to be my original airwrap. I tested it and it worked just fine (so much for the sister spilling the wine!) and I checked the serial number and it definitely is mine!

What an absolute rollercoaster! I wasn’t sure if I should text my friend acknowledging the eventual return of the airwrap or not?

My friend asked if she could borrow my Dyson airwrap for her wedding as money was tight and she couldn’t afford a hairdresser. It was a small wedding...

Bloody hell I guessed she'd stolen it
Cheeky bitch!

WearyAuldWumman · 23/01/2025 00:37

Good grief. So everything she said was a lie!

purpleme12 · 23/01/2025 00:43

Wow so she completely did lie to keep it!!

Paisleyandpolkadots · 23/01/2025 00:46

I'm sure that there was no wine spilt on it. Just as I was sure she had stolen it. The wine story was just another tactic that she hoped you'd fall for. She doesn't sound like the kind of women who'd have had it repaired. If she had, she would have given you details rather than being thought of a thief. She just intended to keep it or sell it to somebody.

WellsAndThistles · 22/01/2025 21:35

Omg, totally knew she had nicked them but the brass neck!

Wonder what her sister and DH think of having a thief in the family.

Not sure I could keep my gob shut if wider friends ask why you are no longer friends with that lowlife.

I suspect that they don’t know about the thievery - I’m betting she claimed she’d been gifted the wrap.

tamade · 23/01/2025 02:05

She lied from the start, the drive-to-the-hotel was going to be her "out", but she or someone else changed her mind about that (sister? husband?). the sister/wine story is another obvious lie so don't worry about that. Congratulations!

Fraaances · 23/01/2025 02:24

I wonder what she's going to tell your mutual friends about why you no longer talk

a musical was suggested in the previous thread! The role of the blue carpet and the glass of wine have already been cast 🤣 still looking for a name for the production though!

Perhaps "hair scray" I'm sure there was a lot of screeching going on about your audacity to pursue return of your goods

ZforZebra · 23/01/2025 04:30

I knew it!!! She intended to keep it all along. I called BS as soon as I read your first post. She loved it and just intended to keep it never expecting you to follow up or demand she pays for it. What a cheeky cow!

Anyone who genuinely lost/broke/damaged something they’d borrowed would tell you immediately and be full of remorse plus offerings of how to make it right, not evade you and give you the runaround with changing stories and timeframes for weeks! I’m glad you got it back!

Doloresparton · 23/01/2025 05:03

@Langarg haven’t got a name for the production but you should definitely have a musical number called
The Dyson Wrap Rap.

Nettleteaser101 · 23/01/2025 05:05

I'm so glad you got it back. I can't believe some so called freind could do that, to be honest it's quite shocking.
Also her husband must have been blind if he didn't see it on the carpet at the hotel. ( I know that was a load of crap).
I hope the small claims letter shook her to the core. She won't be doing that again. Effing Thief.

Ididit2023 · 23/01/2025 05:18

Was her hair particularly bouncy in the Ring doorbell footage? Please tell
me she had had one final blow dry before she had to hand back her… your prized possession!
I’d be sending the mumsnet links to the mutual friends wats app group!

MJconfessions · 23/01/2025 05:24

You definitely should tell mutual friends otherwise she will get in with her version of events and turn them against you. She’ll say you tried to sue her and ruined her wedding.

LunchtimeNaps · 23/01/2025 05:38

I'd really want to know the truth of this. Surely she didn't just lie, keep it and hope you'd do nothing.

Productions name’ That’s a Wrap’

GrandHighPoohbah · 23/01/2025 05:57

I am absolutely gobsmacked. I missed your first thread so am catching up. The brass neck on some people is truly astounding.

Machya · 23/01/2025 06:10

She also accused the hotel's staff of theft, then her sister of breaking it.
All along it was just lies to steal a £500 dryer.

I definitely would appreciate the heads up if someone did that.

I wouldn't hesitate to inform the hotel of what she accused their staff of.

She has form.
This is a lesson to all who dismiss cheeky fxxkery as nothing.
This is a look at the mind set and character of someone who is fixated on ripping off and screwing over people.

This is why one hint of it in my life and your card is marked.

She has been like this for a long time and the OP's tolerance has led her to this place.

I'm not blaming the OP, merely pointing out that CF's invariably escalate their behaviour when it goes unchecked and unchallenged.

I hope the OP learns a lesson from this.
Her CF "friend" is a lowlife thief.
People need warning about her.
Her sister could do with a heads up too.

Snoopy1234567 · 23/01/2025 06:35

So glad to hear you have it back! When you next have to see her keep your head and fabulous hair held high! She should be so ashamed of herself. Shocked she brought it back after all her lies. I knew from your first post she was planning on stealing it or keeping it long term as she had an event she wanted to keep it for. If she’s on your social media I’d be stalking it to confirm this 😂

pictoosh · 23/01/2025 06:36

To think she suggested you buy a second hand one from ebay which she could pay off in installments.
And all the while she was going to keep the original.

What an absolute shyster.

She deserves to have other people know what she tried to do because it's not fucking nice.

pictoosh · 23/01/2025 06:42

Though I understand your stance on not carrying it on or having more drama over it. Or telling mutuals about it. It's actually quite a sad event. No wonder you want to move on.

Bigboysmademedoit · 23/01/2025 06:55

If you ever feel like renewing this friendship remember how she sent you a link for used ones at £150 to buy, whilst she kept your £500 new ones! You are well rid of her.

lakesandplains · 23/01/2025 07:04

I'm sure her dh, dsis and family know nothing at all about her attempts at theft...

ThejoyofNC · 23/01/2025 07:05

So they were just common thieves all along.

TwinklyTornadoBear · 23/01/2025 07:11

Missing the point (but can’t believe the brazen cheek!)

Am I the only one who really can’t stand the word ‘wrap’ 😣
