To wonder if Starmer can survive the vibe-shift?

Trump has been going hell for leather since his inauguration it seems, things are changing fast - Trump likes the UK, but he doesn't like Starmer. Starmer seems out of sync with the changing tide, and seems (to me) to get it wrong and make it worse everytime he opens his mouth. AIBU in wondering how long Starmer can hang on?

I didn't vote for Sir Keir Starmer but I am waiting to see if he can do something good for the country, something positive. Not convinced yet. The Tories lost the election as they flip flopped all over the place and were punished for it. If Reform offer good policies, apart from immigration, at the next election, they will win. Labour will not win. The Tories, I think, will do better than people realise especially if they have a new leader.

Trump gave a feel good feeling to Americans. America first yay. 2 sexes yay. Crack down on illegal aliens yay. Boost to the American economy yay...and so on.

What did we get? Doom and gloom. A kick in the goolies to our pensioners and small business while appeasing the unions and monetising train drivers.

Now Labour are opening up the hotels again for asylum seekers. The ones they chastised the Tories using.

" Boost to the American economy"

ok lets see how that goes then due to his 'policies putting America first" .

Doom and Gloom or realistic? I'd rather be told the uncomfortable truth than sold a comfortable lie personally!

And I am not a bot or Tory HQ. I dont understand why people throw those comments around. In real life I struggle to find people who like Labour, so surely non-leftwingers will comment especially during hard times like this.

You and I have very different definitions of vile prick.

Thats nice

Berga · 22/01/2025 17:29

So is AI/Bot questioning the same as troll hunting? Wondering as my post got deleted and I was referred to Talk guidelines but can't see anything there are AI/Bots.

Fine if it is, just want to know where I stand on potentially interacting with AI/Bots on Mumsnet.

Yes same for me, and I live in a labour stronghold! Nobody I know likes this government, including my leftie DH!

Alwaystired94 · 22/01/2025 17:14

but those aren't the only 2 options? "Labour echo chamber" vs blatant misinformation?

Twitter originally had a great mix of opinions and views before it went downhill.

Report as you wish if you see misinformation and mnhq can decide

If people are being deleted, suspended or banned due to some troll / bot hunting posts on this thread then that’s their call

TunipTheVegimal24 · 22/01/2025 17:33

I think Starmer is bloody brilliant.

hattie43 · 22/01/2025 17:34

This government is corrupt . Everything they vilified the tories for they've done and as for their handling of the rape gangs and this demonic axel killer , beyond words . They need to go .

What do you mean about the handling of the Rudakubana case? What did this government do wrong?

Hello everyone,

We are getting quite a lot troll hunting reports about this thread so we thought it a good time to remind you that troll hunting goes against our Talk guidelines.

Referring to your fellow Mumsnetters as bots counts as troll hunting. As ever please report any concerns to us as we can check behind the scenes and decide whether or not a poster is genuine.

Those who continue to troll hunt on this or any other thread may have their accounts suspended which is something we would rather avoid.

Ah answered my question here, hadn't scrolled back. Good to know where Mumsnet stands on this.

Edited

In the 25 days between the election and stabbing, everything they did everything wrong.

They defunded the NHS and mental health teams.
Cut funding to local councils by about two thirds.
Fueled hatred and ... ..changed everything the very competent Tories had put in order over the last 14 years.

letsallchant · 22/01/2025 17:46

What, with a 150+ parliamentary majority to take him through five years? Yeah, I think he'll survive 🙄 Honestly, the scare operation on here is wild.

Starmer changed from a fence sitting wet wipe into a full blown dictator in that time too.....

Without wishing to sound rude. I don't think you understand the meaning of the word competent.

itsgettingweird · 22/01/2025 17:56

Seriously - it's Starmer you're accusing of getting it wrong every time he opens his mouth.

Have you heard Badenoch and Farage speak lately?
Or any of their MPs for that matter?

The only difference between them and Starmer is they are as idiotic as Trump and will happily spew stupid untrue comments knowing the electorate are generally too stupid to realise it's bollocks!

Anniedash · 22/01/2025 17:58

Hopefully we manage to get rid of this corrupt, incompetent labour government sooner than 5 years. Before they destroy what’s left of the country and economy.

Not many posts about Badenoch or the Conservative Party lately

I wish MN would also ban Tory voter hunting 🙄

Nigellasrockyroad · 22/01/2025 18:01

@Anniedash this was covered earlier. You just can’t get rid of a democratically elected government. A previous post even suggested a US marine could take Starmer out. 🙄

Did you sign the petition asking for a General Election?

How did that go?

Why would there be? They are not in government.
