To feel everyone is anti trans?

I'm well aware of current US views led by Trump - but are these views generally held/supported in the UK? Of course I understand opinions on NHS gender reassignment funding, as well as controversies over trans women in sport. Needless to say I'm fully aware of concerns over women's safety issues. Are there any sympathisers or supporters out there? What about trans masculine folk who are surely no threat to women's safety or sport? None of these people would choose such a hard life, socially, financially, physically, mentally, emotionally... am I alone in thinking a bit of kindness and compassion towards the trans community might be appreciated for the massive personal struggles they have to face? I am open minded to hearing and understanding your views.

I could live with that @Lentilweaver

Have a look at this:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/244387/the-global-gender-gap-index/#:~:text=The%20global%20gender%20gap%20index%20benchmarks%20national%20gender%20gaps%20on,with%20a%20score%20of%200.94.

And then check out the countries on the list that have self ID amongst the top performers.

And then look at this for the worlds top economies, and do the same.

https://www.investopedia.com/insights/worlds-top-economies/

As you can see there is a much stronger correlation for the first 2 variables.

😂😂 Now that really is clutching at straws!

lifeturnsonadime · 22/01/2025 12:24

IdylicDay · 22/01/2025 12:23

Anyone pushing the idea that self-ID doesn't impact women and girls lives because.....economy is doing well is not a grown up.

Yep.

As if the economy has anything to do with the removal of women's rights to single sex spaces and sports.

Frankly this is one of the most absurd arguments I've ever seen posted on Mumsnet.

It's the only positive they can find, so they're clutching on to it for dear life.

nothing wrong with using that phrasing to give your position. You state your position on the question being asked but then you go into more detail above the nuances of the debate. It is isn’t phobic at all.

Point missed

Countries doing well economically eat noodles and rice. This means that everybody should eat noodles and rice.😂

Anyone who doesn't eat noodles and rice is literally damaging the economy, and belongs to a hate group.

I'm not being incendiary or a wind up. I'm simply sharing my experience of the people I know. Of course I can't speak for everyone.

Drfosters · 22/01/2025 12:26

Jennifershuffles · 22/01/2025 12:22

What I'm saying is that violence against women by trans-women is not affecting large numbers of people.
I do agree that women and trans women need to be protected in situations where they are likely to be victims of violence.
I don't think that there is much, if any of this in changing rooms and public toilets but I understand the fear on both sides.

so trans women would be safe you feel in the men’s toilets/changing rooms?

I have a friend who was male and is now female.
Her pain is significant and I sympathise completely for her.

The issue is that the "trans" movement has become aggressive and people are insisting "trans women are women" - they are women yes, but they are not biological women.
The insistence that they are equal and the same as biological women is my problem. No they cannot compete in our sports, they are biologically men.

I support JK Rowlings attittudes to be quite honest. I am sick of the whole thing of "trans women are the same as bio women". No they are not. That doesn't mean I don't support trans people though and have empathy for the challenges and pain they go through, but biology is biology and womens rights are a thing too!

It appears so.

Failing to understand that biological sex is a multidimensional construct / process of development, and instead having a singular , unitary concept of “immutable, binary sex” and viewing people who fail to conform to this simplistic understanding as wrong/ pretending/ mentally ill/ part of a cult/ promoting an “ideology”/ damaged / sexual predators/ a threat to women, etc etc etc is anti trans , yes.

lifeturnsonadime · 22/01/2025 12:27

I have a friend who was male and is now female.

Do you think your friend has actually changed sex?

Thelnebriati · 22/01/2025 12:27

Jennifershuffles
''What I'm saying is that violence against women by trans-women is not affecting large numbers of people.''

Then you have missed the point about how violence affects women in society.

I think they're genuinely serious. They've been on Mumsnet for a LONG time posting TRA arguments.

How so?

frecklejuice · 22/01/2025 12:28

I couldn't give a shit about trans people until they start affecting women's lives, spaces and opportunities. Trans women are just that, they aren't women and never will be because you know.. Biology.

TheRadiatorLady · 22/01/2025 12:28

Drfosters · 22/01/2025 12:26

so trans women would be safe you feel in the men’s toilets/changing rooms?

Yes, is there any evidence they wouldn't? Most men would simply be polite and ignore their presence.

Do you think women would be safe if males were allowed into their toilets/changing rooms?

Tandora · 22/01/2025 12:28

IdylicDay · 22/01/2025 12:18

And your opinion on womens rights is noted.

Great, because I avidly support women’s rights and am a card carrying feminist. Have been my whole darn life.

GabriellaMontez · 22/01/2025 12:28

I'm anti-men in women's sports. And other women's spaces including refuges, changing rooms and toilets.

Is that what you mean?

My trans friend came into the womens toilets with me.

I DID NOT FEEL SAFE.

Laughing at people and pretending they don't know what you're talking about really isn't the great strategy to deflect from the ridiculousness your argument that you think it is. We can all see what you're doing.
