To feel everyone is anti trans?

I'm well aware of current US views led by Trump - but are these views generally held/supported in the UK? Of course I understand opinions on NHS gender reassignment funding, as well as controversies over trans women in sport. Needless to say I'm fully aware of concerns over women's safety issues. Are there any sympathisers or supporters out there? What about trans masculine folk who are surely no threat to women's safety or sport? None of these people would choose such a hard life, socially, financially, physically, mentally, emotionally... am I alone in thinking a bit of kindness and compassion towards the trans community might be appreciated for the massive personal struggles they have to face? I am open minded to hearing and understanding your views.

OK, briefly, but it's not exactly obscure...
The adage of "I'm not .....but" is the classic call of the 'phobe isnt it ... .' I'm not racist but...'^
'I'm not sexist, but ...' and 'I'm not anti trans but ..'

So you don't have anything much of substance to say about it. Good to know.

Information from an anti trans lobby group.

Again, showing your lack of comprehension skills.

The group is called Sex Matters. Clue is in the name. Not anti-trans. Can’t argue with science Tandora, as much as you try.

Yes, when I was in Thailand, which was admittedly a decade ago now, none of the ladyboys ( I hate that term but that's what they call themselves) thought they were actually women or entered women's spaces, which is probably why most people had no problem respecting them.

Exactly. Indian transwomen by the way, are truly persecuted especially by the police and society. I fully acknowledge that. ( It's a complex issue)

However, they do not enter women's spaces or sports. Happy to respect them.

A PRO-WOMENs lobby group.

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 22/01/2025 12:12

I am pro-biological women's rights.

I am against some government telling people that a trans woman cannot rape a biological woman because women cannot rape women. That is the biggest piece of utter BS I've heard (the hospital rape case). Women have always been able to rape women, but anyone who uses a penis to rape someone is a rapist, and be able to put that crime on women because they "say" they are a woman is horse hockey.

I don't care what you "do" with your body, but I should not have my taxes paying for cosmetic surgery and I want only biological women in women's sports, prisons, shelters, rape crisis centers, bathrooms and every other biological women's safe space. Men can want to be women, but they cannot BE women.

JHound · 22/01/2025 12:05

Not “everybody” but I think the vast majority of people are. At least in countries such as the US and UK. Maybe less in Thailand.

And not just “opposed to men in women’s spaces” - most people appear to hate trans people for even existing.

I feel very sorry for trans people and so glad not to be one. I completely understand why their suicide rates are so high.

I have never seen any evidence of a single person ever hating a trans person for existing.
what does that even mean? How can someone vocalise hating someone for simply existing? Everyone here has clearly stated they wouldn’t treat a trans person differently in day to day interactions.

you need to provide evidence of suicide rates please vs general populous and proof the only issue was their trans status. If some one commits suicide purely for the reason they can’t access the opposite sex’s bathroom then I do think we have a failure in the mental health services in the UK. It isn’t the fault of women who want to preserve their sex based rights and it is completely unfair of you to insinuate that.

Didn’t used to be but threads like this just push me further over the edge…

JHound · 22/01/2025 12:12

IdylicDay · 22/01/2025 12:07

@JHound The 'high rates of suicide' myth has been debunked. Their suicide rate is no higher than any other group, in fact compared to most groups the rate is less.

Do you have neutral sources? (Also I did not day trans youth, I said trans people.)

We’ve all seen your previous replies, this is why myself and other posters are specifically replying to you about this. I know you honestly believe you’re replying in a back and forth manner about gender discussion but that’s isn’t what anyone else sees. You never actually answer questions, and after a few times of repeating them to you, you say ‘I’ve already answered that’ and carry on asserting that MN is horribly transphobic without any evidence. Yet you never actually leave the site or ignore these threads.

Your opinion is noted.

Again, the posts are there for all to see

Vaxtable · 22/01/2025 12:13

I have no issue with people being trans. I do have a problem when safe female spaces are no longer safe, ie changing rooms, toilets etc. Same with sport.

my opinion is you are born male or female. Whilst there are intersex they are by far a minority but if you have an X chromosome you are a man with all the advantages of strength

if someone wants to say they identify as another sex crack on but don’t put the great majority if that sex at a disadvantage

Yeah it’s tedious, and Tandora is correct. It’s all there to see.

Post accusations of anti-transness all you like, but at least try and back it up with evidence and address the counter arguments put forward.

Again, any evidence? If you have read the thread properly you would’ve seen the amount of posters saying trans
people should be respected, call themselves whatever they like, wear whatever they like, they just don’t want to be compelled into an ideology they don’t believe in if they don’t want to, which is what’s happening here.

“I think”

Based on the tone of discussions about trans people and any and every comment on any article about trans people.

The tone I get is that most people hate trans people.

I don’t hate trans people.

I do have a problem with the ideology…

is it the conjunction that’s the problem? Or did you find something I expressed to be hateful? I would genuinely like to know what part of my post comes across as bigoted or what I got wrong.
