Your daughter could do that independently, including the spelling, in nursery?!

If so, I’d be contacting Mensa!

At my child’s preschool, the best writer is able to write dog, and not great handwriting.

She's 'Twice Exceptional', autistic and assessed as Highly Gifted via WISC with a particular gift for Verbal Comprehension although we didn't know officially how 'bright' she was until she was 13.

Isn’t it worth putting that in a post then? I mean, she’s a far outlier so it’s quite irrelevant on this type of post where the poster is looking for estimations on where a child should be.

It’s like comparing salaries and Elon Musk saying ‘I earn trillions a year’. Well, great but that’s totally unachievable for 99.99% of the general population.

@WhenTheyComeForYou which is why I said it was a year or two after when she did it and having taught Secondary I have seen year 7s with SEN with similar writing like so it was a "how long is a piece of string" question without more info.

Yes

is English her first language? What is her level in her first language is really what you need to look at in term of understanding/knowledge. Writing will come together and she will catch up the level with others.

I wouldn’t worry too much, I’ve worked with top neurosurgeons in London and she has better handwriting than them 😜 or most doctors for that matter ❤️❤️

This is very like my friend's 4 year old's writing and sentences, she is in nursery, but is exceptionally bright. I'd say reception/ youngest in year in year 1 maybe.

Pashpash24 · 26/01/2025 22:30

I wouldn’t worry. My son’s writing changed so fast from when he was 7 to when he went 8. As long as she can read and write she will be fine :)
