To be annoyed at the lack of bathrooms

Applecharm25 · 20/01/2025 13:39

I have my period. I can feel that i need to change my tampon.

I'm out walking round my city. There are no public bathrooms anywhere near me.

I see a sign for a bathroom in a small shopping centre near me. I walk in. The bathroom is actually in a shop. I'm told that the bathroom is only available for paying customers.

So now I have to get in a long queue and wait further and buy something while I really need to change my tampon.

Surely there should be better toilet services available.

They definitely need a lot more public toilets in the UK

This is never going to happen.

Councils have no money for schools or pot holes let alone public toilets.

I'd use a public toilet as a last resort because they are never as clean as ones available in shops, cafes or hotels.

And lots of people disagree with you. Just cause you said that doesn't make it true.

Do you want me to go back and get one of your bullying posts word for word? Cause I can do that.

Yes. I would. Please do that. It's what I asked for.

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 21/01/2025 10:54

Who are you speaking for?

You can only speak for yourself pet.

How condescending

OP has flounced... sorry gone to meet a friend because they can't provide any actual proof of bullying from us.

Unlike the actual proof of them saying things they claim they didn't

WhenSallymetBarry · 21/01/2025 11:03

"Restroom" is an American English word that refers to a room with toilets and sinks, usually in a public place. In the UK, the term "toilets" is more common.

Explanation
In the US, "restroom" and "bathroom" are often used interchangeably, even in private homes.

Some consider "restroom" to be slightly more polite or formal.

In the UK, people often use euphemisms like "going to the loo" to avoid saying "toilet".

you're in or from the NE!

That's where people use 'pet'!

Unless you're really Vera.

Me too @Growlybear83 but then that's probably because there aren't any! I've asked twice and been ignored!

What's your thoughts to other posters saying that I'm getting a bullying pile on then.

Are yous saying they are wrong?

It's called disagreeing.

Just because someone else says something doesn't mean that others agree.

I think OP realises she was foolish, but she's one of those people who simply cannot back down. She's dug deeper and deeper and made herself look very foolish, and ironically, actually quite bullying!

@WhenSallymetBarry

Eh pot kettle black?

Do you work? You are also managing to post here.

Edited

Just to point out to any late arrivals who are only reading the last page or two that it was OP who brought up "do you work?"

Because they are doing the well known thing of playing the victim and making sure the more recent posts are ones which will gain them sympathy by painting other posters in a bad light when the OP actually brought something up

Absolutely! Clear as day to us, having read every single post! The more replies they post the more they look absolutely deranged! It's becoming a joke now!

Applecharm25 · 21/01/2025 10:25

Same thing.

Troll hunting is bullying someone.

Edited

Of course it isn't.
Troll hunting is simply that - accusing an OP (or someone else) of not being a genuine poster - of having made their post up.

Troll hunting doesn't mean bullying. Bullying is something else.

Bullying isn't allowed on here. I haven't seen any bullying of the OP. I've seen a bit of troll hunting, though.

OP you're being belligerent and argumentative. That doesn't make you a troll (or a man).

And FYI you did demonstrate that you don't understand female biology. That's fine. But you got annoyed with me for pointing it out, and told me to take some biology lessons.

I'm waiting to see some examples of any bullying posts.

I've RTFT and there aren't any.

OP was very rude to me earlier in the thread, though.

🤣

WhenSallymetBarry · 21/01/2025 11:35

Moving on.....

in the UK a few decades ago, it was quite normal for the toilet to be in a separate room to the bath and basin. My PIL's house built pre WW2 was like this as were thousands of others.

So if you'd asked to 'use the bathroom' they would assume you needed a wash.

There are some interesting posts on Trip Advisor where people from the US are asking what to call 'toilets' when they come to the UK.

There is one reply (amongst many) where someone said they'd overheard an American asking for the 'bathroom' and the owner (pub/cafe) said they don't have baths!

I think that the OP never saw a sign saying 'Bathroom' in a shop (where she had to buy something to use their loo.) But once you go down that road and keep digging, it's a hole you're never going to get out of.

dynamiccactus · 21/01/2025 11:48

And bathroom is definitely a word that is used in the UK

Of course it is, but not in the context you used it in.

And disagreeing with you about that isn't bullying.

dynamiccactus · 21/01/2025 11:51

ChicLilacSeal · 21/01/2025 09:16

Your best bet is a hotel. They always have loos somewhere on the ground floor. There are none at one end of my town, so that's what I do.

But sometimes the reception areas are really small so you can't sneak in without them seeing you.

Op has not mentioned what area she is in that all the public toilets are called bathrooms.

well, you have to choose the right hotel. I've regularly used a 4* Marriott in a city and the reception areas are huge.

She didn't say all toilets are signposted as 'Bathrooms' not that I can see.
Only the one in a shopping centre, within a shop.

Negroany · 21/01/2025 12:10

I actually don't think she said she saw a sign that said bathroom. I think she said she saw a sign for the bathroom, so 'bathroom' was her word. It was probably the usual sign of a little male and female figure.

I've definitely never seen a sign that said bathroom, only toilets or WC, but more usually a symbol - in my head it means 'loo' so I might say I saw a sign for a loo, but no sign actually said loo.

"So why do many pubs and shops have signs saying "bathrooms here"."

To quote OP.

Either way , its pretty obvious OP has never had a period

Are you still going?

Such utter lies!! How can you sit there and lie.

Show me one post where I "accused women of not understanding their biology"

You totally made that up.

Tampons are designed that you can wee when tampons are inserted
Do you really not know this?

This is such an odd comment to make to women. Why would you state such an obvious thing to women? It's extremely patronising. Of course we know. Also, you sound utterly delighted to be shouting about 'bullying'. Reminds me of a certain type of 'woman'.

Yes, it was posted by the OP ... a quick CTRL/F tells me yesterday at 14.07 ... so let's not misquote the OP.
