Daughter changing her eye colour?

I’ve found out my daughter is going to New York to have her eye colour surgically changed. I’m horrified.

I just can’t support this. Aibu? It’s caused a horrific argument and we’re not speaking.

That is crazy. Risking your eyesight for no good reason...really? Has she actually thought long and hard about the possibilty of being blind?

I changed my eye colour .. 8 years ago?? I’m so happy with the result.

And I absolutely didn’t get insurance. I’ve had surgery in Turkey too and didn’t bother to get insurance for that either.

I love my eye colour now and my new nose.

I am horrified that such a thing is legal. How could people risk their sight for cosmetic reasons?

And you know that how?

Especially as the first clinic that offered it was in 2013.

Some people have more money than sense. Risking blindness for the sake of vanity? Now that really is batshit crazy!

Hi there, I just wanted to show my support - I would be terrified if this was my children as well. I can’t believe that this is even allowed, it’s horrifying.

I’ve been googling it and it seems like it’s gaining in popularity. How can a ‘doctor’ do this? I would worry about future issues too, like if people develop glaucoma later in life, how can it be treated when you eye is covered with dye? This body modification has got to stop. I don’t know what the answer is, all you can do is try and warn them (which I’m sure you’ve done) and then try to be there for them if it goes wrong.

Sending love to you xx

Assuming she's an adult, it's nothing to do with you. She can whatever she wants with her own body and take whatever risks she wants. You don't need to support it, but neither do you need to have an argument about it.

It is a mother's duty to protect her child and that doesn't stop when the child is an adult. For such a rsky procedure she is 100% right to try to deter her.

Unfortunately I think it’s only a matter of time before there is one. Laser eye surgery for example, these days, is relatively routine but can still make some people’s sight worse than before they had it done.
Makes me think of the whole permanent makeup thing all over again.

There’s loads of reported cases of blindness with this. you only have to type it in google too see, it’s not even approved.
it can lead to multiple severe vision problems inc blindness. I hope she doesn’t go through with it.
