Nothing beats the feeling of...

A well stocked fridge...

A full tank of petrol in a freshly cleaned car...

Fully stocked bathroom with toiletries, new bars of soap, plenty of loo roll, new tube of toothpaste...

A full wood store and full basket of wood by the fire...

Ugh. I love the feeling. I think I have a bit of prepper in me. I love the actual act of stocking it all up and then looking at it like a caveman who's brought home a leg of mammoth for the family.

A nostalgic one for me and something I was talking about the other day, nothing will ever beat queuing up for the midnight releases of the new Harry Potter books and reading them for the very first time. I wish I could go back and experience that excitement again!

🥲 that was a wonderful time for me too. The excitement was unreal. I'd love to bottle that feeling of reading each book for the first time.

Oh that’s taken me back to the Waterstones queue just before midnight. Me and my mum used to go as a little ritual.

Losing weight and buying new clothes.

fresh bedlinen.

clean house

a glass of wine at the airport waiting for a holiday flight

BlueberryPancakes17 · 18/01/2025 22:29

Being on the sofa watching a great film when it’s torrentially raining outside.

Being at the airport ready to fly away on holiday or, the moment of landing in a new destination.

First coffee of the day.

This one is niche but was talking to a mate about it today. If you’ve ever had engorged boobs or blocked ducts when breastfeeding, the moment when it clears. The RELIEF

This sounds mental but I loved the floppy boobs feeling after breastfeeding. What relief!

When you do an invisible poo at work and it flushes first time.

Lying next to my little one when she is asleep. Feeling her soft cheek next to mine and hearing her quietly snoring!

Oh and this too! That amazing feeling when the boob starts to soften!

Hearing all my children in the same room together, making one another laugh. I love being in the kitchen and being able to hear them amusing each other and roaring laughing. It makes pretty much every stress and worry just melt away.

They are adults now, so being together is a rarity, but as they laugh it’s like they are all back in primary school.

Fresh line-dried sheets, naturally. Better than sex.

Crossing items off the To Do List.

Picking a strawberry in the garden on a warm day and popping it straight in my mouth. It tastes of strawberries x1000.

That pillow thing might be the life hack of the century

I flip my pillow over during the night and that's good enough for me. It's a hack I acquired during the menopause but years later I still do it 😀

LiamNeesonIsADerryGirl · 18/01/2025 23:56

@Satisfactionguaranteed @Nottodaythankyou123 I'm glad I've bought back some happy memories for you both! Although I still can't quite get over the time my mum and brother went to queue up and get one for me and jokingly told me that they'd sold out!

When my family come to visit we have a good night and all the bedrooms are taken with visitors.
Reorganising rooms and getting rid of clutter

Another bodily function one - when you've had painful, blocked sinuses for a few days and you have some almighty powerful sneeze that clears it. It's like the insides of a golf ball that comes out of your nose.

Yes! Waking up with full, leaking boobs then popping a hungry baby on one and a pump on the other and feeling nice and deflated afterwards Grin

I also get weirdly excited to see how much I’ve managed to pump. Love labelling my little bags for the freezer 😂 my PFB is 4 weeks old so it’s still a novelty for me! 180ml from ONE boob in 30 mins this morning!

A cat rubbing against your freshly shaved legs.

Ohshutupcolinyoutwat · 19/01/2025 06:20

Having a Monday off when you've been working all weekend. I'll be having an extra long lie in tomorrow morning.

MotherOfDragonflies · 19/01/2025 06:27

I do a large housekeeping shop every January. It makes me feel very secure and comfortable. I get in six months worth of all the household things we need, cleaning products, dishwasher tablets and salt, washing powder, toiletries, pet food (I’m lucky in that we have a large dry cellar). It’s fab when it’s all arrived and is stacked ready and waiting.

i also love the feeling when you use the last bit of a product and can put the empty into the recycling bin. It’s weirdly satisfying.

I'm the PP with the pillow on the floor.
Yes of course I flip my pillow over, I've been doing that since I was a child.

But this is when you've woken up, get up for a wee/DH wakes me up when he comes to bed late and I can put a cold plump pillow on the bed and the sad, warm, deflated pillow on the floor to await it's own turn back on the bed!

Waking up pain-free after a migraine. That back in the land of the living feeling. And then feeding my body whatever it's craving (usually a McDonald's!)

The initial caffeine buzz from a really great cup of tea.

Plus all the lovely things previously mentioned!

Ha, I remember when I was ten seriously pondering whether it was WORTH getting the migraine for this feeling of waking up afterwards with the light filtering through from the landing and hearing the household downstairs getting tea Grin

Love this thread, so many! Especially the shaved legs and clean sheets. Bliss.
I love getting a hot drink from my favourite coffee shop and then going for a walk on my own in our local country park. Just me and a lovely long path with the occasional dog walked and amazing view.
This thread has made me think though, it’s clearly the little and often free/cheap things that make us happiest, so why do we go into debt buying stuff we don’t want or need. I’m sitting here next to my son, curled up under a blanket, eating cookies and it’s heaven. It doesn’t get much better.
Also love a full fridge/cupboards

Absolutely agree. We are very much a "live within our means" kind of family. I've no desire for expensive luxuries when a trip to the beach in January with my toddler and a couple of flasks of hot chocolate brings me the most joy.

I do wish that freshly shaved feeling would last longer though...

I agree as well. I am very comfortably off, but I still live fairly frugally (my exception being perfume, I splurge on that a lot) I am lucky in that I have a lot of very beautiful antique jewellery that has been left to me, and that gives me immense joy. I find great pleasure in preserving old things and taking good care of what I already have, rather than buying more and more stuff: plus there is also the fact that even a lot of high end designer stuff is oddly poor quality these days.
