To always dress my baby in a sleepsuit

My baby is 3 months old and he only wears vests and sleepsuits. We have a few outfits that were gifted but I don't put him in them really because changing is a faff. Even body suits with socks, the socks don't stay on so fuck that. I've started taking him to baby classes now and in the 3 classes we've been to he was the only one in a sleepsuit. Does nobody else do what I do or is it like, considered lazy or something like if I came to baby class in my pyjamas?

Some people will think it's lazy and some won't. I think sleepsuits are cute and my babies both spent a lot of time in them! I did dress them for specific things but the spares were always sleepsuits so if there was any incidents they were back into one!

Who could possibly bat an eyelid at a 3 month old BABY wearing a BABY grow? Please don’t stress. Our son was mainly in sleepsuits until 7-8 months.

They are in sleepsuits for such a small amount of time, sometimes I miss being able to shove a sleepsuit on my now toddler.

You are not lazy, promise

TickingAlongNicely · 15/01/2025 13:21

Your baby, your choice. Do what works for you. Babies need to be comfy
I preferred leggings/joggers and tops because I got fed up faffing with all those poppers.

Other people feel comfort from the "structure" of day and night clothes... and that's fine too.

PiastriThePastry · 15/01/2025 13:22

I didn’t do the same, as I personally found leggings/long sleeved tops outfits to be the much easier option and I suppose to some degree did feel a little like sleepsuits were a bit pyjama-y but lots of people do just put baby in sleepsuits when they’re tiny I think. If it works for you, that’s what matters really!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 15/01/2025 13:22

I did this with all 3 of mine. It seemed more comfy for them while they were mainly lying down or cuddled into someone. I wouldn't want to lie down in jeans. And when they're small everything seems to ride up or ride down.

trappt · 15/01/2025 13:22

sleepsuits are adorable and comfortable, perfect!

Skyla01 · 15/01/2025 13:22

YANBU. My first baby only got out in sleepsuits until she was about 4 or 5 months. That's when I realised at classes that everyone else had dressed their baby in clothes. It makes more sense to dress them once they can start sitting up a bit.

I once wrestled my six week old in to a lovely but impractical dungaree outfit (gift). Took me at least 5 minutes to stuff her in. Hadn't even picked her up and she had poonamied it. Back to sleepsuits pronto.

User457788 · 15/01/2025 13:22

YANBU especially the baby grows with zips. So handy! But if someone bought my baby an outfit I'd make sure he wore it before it was outgrown because I think its rude not to. And then I'd take a photo of him and send it to them to say thanks but I'm very appreciative of gifts I'd say.

SwerveCity · 15/01/2025 13:22

I would much rather see a baby in a warm comfy sleepsuit than jeans and silly outfits.

WinterFollies · 15/01/2025 13:22

You'll get dickheads saying, "Oooh, are you still in your jammies?" to your DS. (You can guess how I know!)

TipsyKoala · 15/01/2025 13:23

Perfectly sensible in my opinion. Tops and dresses just ride up. Some baby outfits look plain uncomfortable.

Glitchymn1 · 15/01/2025 13:23

I can only imagine how comfortable he is! I always feel a bit miffed at seeing a baby in jeans. I can’t wait to take them off- maybe it’s just me!

IlooklikeNigella · 15/01/2025 13:23

This is exactly what I did. They are so lovely and cosy. I do remember my family making a few comments but I didn't care. I had a giant stack of baby gros and vests in a drawer under the cot at all times and the next size up ready to go in the wardrobe.

B0xes · 15/01/2025 13:24

Nothing wrong with that at all. I did similar, they're practical and other clothes just bunch up and done look like they could be comfy for a wee baby.

HPandthelastwish · 15/01/2025 13:24

People may well judge but it's a bit insane to put an immobile baby in proper clothes. I'm Team Babygrow all the way, clothes shops just saw a profitable gap in the market and ran with it.

Yes, jeans on a baby are dreadful

CrispyCrumpets · 15/01/2025 13:25

Sleepsuits are comfy and cute and perfect for a 3 month old. They come in loads of cute designs too. They are too nice to just wear for bed. Indeed socks and outfits are a total faff at this age.

Mine both spent a few months in babygrows and then starred to wear some stretchy tops and bottoms. Probably when they started getting too wriggly for all those poppers.

ItFellOffAgain · 15/01/2025 13:25

"...because changing is a faff..."
Says it all; your baby will fit your routine rather than you adapting to you baby. Perfect..

RunVelma · 15/01/2025 13:25

I kept my youngest in sleep suits til he could walk. Comfy, cosy and practical.

Kokomjolk · 15/01/2025 13:26

It's just because they've been rebranded 'sleepsuits'. They used to be called babygros.

Anyway babies spend a lot of the day sleeping or at least lying down. It's fine. All in one suits are comfy, warm and allow full freedom of movement when baby wants to have a wriggle.

What on earth is this comment

SJM1988 · 15/01/2025 13:27

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at it but personally chose to put my children in outfit. I preferred leggings/joggers and tops/ dresses. I always loved a good theme for classes (baby sensory mostly) too.
Those sock on things are great for keeping socks on.

As long as you are changing the babygro from the one they wore overnight like we do with PJs then that is all that matters

ChipshopPickledEgg · 15/01/2025 13:27

I used to do this all the time I had other mums apologising they didn't dress their kid for play dates and soon put them straight how I roll 😆
I got oh has mummy forgotten to dress you etc comments.

MyQuickLimeFawn · 15/01/2025 13:29

At that age it’s fine, but I think I used to put mine in a long sleeved vest and put leggings over the top as a little ‘outfit’. Still comfy clothes that are easy to take on and off, and I’ve found jeans to be too restrictive.

Kokomjolk · 15/01/2025 13:30

Why though? Change it when they puke or shit on it, which will be soon enough, or after a bath if it's been a while. It's not like they are sweating to any great extent.

You spend enough time having to change a baby's clothes because they've made a mess of them to bother worrying about day and night clothes if you don't want to.
