To think my under eye filler looks awful?

It’s been 2 weeks since I had it, all I can see is a line of filler??

To think my under eye filler looks awful?

I would be very wary of letting the person who did this do any remedial work. You give the impression that you know lots of people who have this sort of thing done so I would ask them who they use and go and get a second opinion.

Morning OP, I’m 34 and had Botox and filler for a number of years, your face is entirely yours to do what you want with firstly. I have unfortunately had a bad experience with one practitioner, I did my research like you, mine was too much lip filler though, it pushed the sides of the top of my lips into creases (Hope that makes sense) and I went to another practitioner to correct which she managed too without dissolving. I appreciate yours is in a different place, but maybe that’s an option, finding someone else and explaining what’s happened. I like you paid a lot of money and when it’s your face it’s just such an awful feeling. Hope you manage get sorted (btw you don’t look 40, 50 or 60)! X

80smonster · 15/01/2025 07:21

I would be very wary of injecting poison into your face full stop. I know many women in their 40s to 50s who’ve had to stop these treatments for a variety of reasons, you end up with the filler dropping or dispersing, which gives skin a melted, waxwork likeness. Avoid at all costs - save for the face lift if you must. Also in your twenties, when you began this course of treatment, why did you need filler? Surely filler is for older folks, whose skins has lost shape?

I can't imagine. It's not like the title is a direct question or anything.

Nah it's just rude and unnecessary. I can't imagine posting a comment like that unless I was a total bitch of course, but I'm not so I keep negative opinions to myself.

What effect were you trying to achieve?
I had tear trough filler .
I was well into my 50s then.

I was told by the dr (considered the best for fillers in the UK by Tatler) that I'd get 50% improvement. They can't go too close to the eyes as it's too risky.

The filler was placed nowhere like yours is showing. It was injected via a canula from the side of eye near the upper cheeks. I had no lumps or bumps of bruising.

It lasted about 4 months. I'd not have it done again partly due to the cost- top prices of around £700 for 1mls - but also the risk and the minimal difference.

I suggest you look at the videos of The Cosmetic Skin Clinic and also the training of their staff shown on the site.

It's not poison. Ridiculous comment. It's a natural substance which is already in your skin.

Bad results come from bad practitioners. Sadly there are too many around now who are not properly trained but jump on the band wagon.

Mooey89 · 15/01/2025 07:44

I can see what you mean OP.
I looked into under eye filler for ages and was put off because this seems to happen a lot to people.
I think if your review is soon then it is sensible to wait as you never know, it might settle more . I don’t think it’s something others would notice unless they were looking if that makes sense.

InDogweRust · 15/01/2025 08:03

At your age lifestyle will make a big difference to your appearance.

  • drink more water
  • change your diet
  • do more outdoor exercise
  • eat healthily
  • if you are overweight lose some

I would also chat to your gp. Its unusual to be feeling the need for so many cosmetic procedures at such a young age. How is your self esteem? You may want some counselling to help you accept and be happy with your own appearance, and embrace everything that makes you a wonderful person, not just how you look. Otherwise you face a long unhappy road as you age and change. Your appearance is not what people value you for.

3luckystars · 15/01/2025 08:25

Just defending myself here, I cannot see your face. I don’t know if it’s my phone settings or my mumsnet settings but I can see a tiny bit of your eye and about 3cms below your eye. I did not say you looked over 50. I can’t even see your face. I’m sorry if you read it that way., but that is definitely not what I meant.

Here is the video I had been watching saying that filler is not great and that women over 50 do not get the same results with filler:

m.youtube.com/watch?v=FUWJR72eIPI&t=1452s&pp=ygUXZHIgYW1pciBrYXJhbSBtZW5vcGF1c2U%3D

I imagine if you have had previous eye surgery, you are an even more complicated case for injecting filler under your eye.

I hope you get it sorted, and just to say again, I cannot see your face and did not say you looked over 50, I asked if you were over 50 because I had just seen a video about fillers over 50 not working as well as under 50.

All the best.

This is so patronising (sure I’ll get told I’m not allowed an opinion as the OP). I am a woman in my 30s I don’t need to be told I need therapy or what’s normal - you haven’t lived my life, had my experiences, issues I’ve had with my skin etc.

Eat less, move more, go outside - do you think this is some revolutionary advice? Why not go tell an homeless person to go buy an house? And I am already losing weight. I’ve gone down 2 dress sizes.

Well, as much as we don’t know what you have been through , we also don’t know what you have tried. I think she was trying to help.

No it’s patronising. I haven’t asked for life advice. I asked advice on filler.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 15/01/2025 09:11

Have you had filler before?

Had it always been smooth from the off?

Just wondering what is reasonable expectation with filler and it needing to settle.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 15/01/2025 09:12

You look like you have an amazing bone structure in your face!

You look like you have an amazing bone structure in your face!

That was my first thought!

OP excema is really shit and I am sorry you went through it. Even though I'm sure you look fine to everyone else I can understand why it upsets you and you want to change it, it is totally your choice what you do with your face and noone should judge you for it. I don't think people understand what it's like to have a skin condition on your face and how much it can affect you.

I have no idea about filler, but I very much hope you get it sorted and feel better about it soon.

Thank you, very nice of you to say.

Yes I’ve had filler before but it’s been 8 years since I had it in the eye area.

It looks very bad worse than a 60 year old (like you say).

I would get it out asap, it is only going to get worse.

I don't know if you can appreciate it @InDogweRust but your post comes over as very patronising.

You have no idea if the OP already does all of those things.

And to suggest counselling for anyone who has any beauty treatments! Honestly!
Talk to her GP? Are you serious?

Where does it stop? In your opinion.

Do you disapprove of work on teeth- braces?
Hair colour?
Make up?

Never read such a judgy post .

There should be no downtime. Maybe a bruise if the needle hits a vein and a tiny bit of puffiness but all should go in 2 days.

Nah. I’m saving my cash and I’ll put it towards my nursing home fees instead.

OP posts:
Alleycat50 · 15/01/2025 09:40

Why bother asking and being sarcastic if you are happy to live with it?

I will be opting for Euthanasia so won’t need nursing home fees (hopefully).

bluebalou · 15/01/2025 09:41

If it was me , I'd just contact who ever did it and ask them to have a look , it may just need massaging, I've never had under eye filler, as I'd read a blog that before going near that area , you should treat the area below that, which acts as a support to the eye area anyway and this may fix your problem without going higher up. Hope you get it sorted x

Apologies. How would you like me to react to you criticising my looks? I can’t be sarcastic … so should I be crying? Be full of self loathing? Defensive?

You say I look 60. So I must look 60.
