I Find Military Guys a Huge Turn-on AIBU?

Okay, so I know that military life and being the wife or partner of someone in the armed forces is nothing like the fantasy. Nonetheless, I find the idea of hot military guys a huge turn-on. AIBU?

I used to Bein the army. I have.. . Stories that might change your mind 😁

2025hello · 12/01/2025 16:53

Good grief

oatmilkchocolate · 12/01/2025 16:53

Of course not. Being attracted to fit, brave, action orientated men is completely normal.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/01/2025 16:54

Well YANBU to be attracted to whatever you like, obviously. Not my cup of tea AT ALL though.

Firstly, I'm not a fan of the shiny, rubbery unnaturally muscled look (ugh). Secondly, every single military man I've met has definite issues. I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.

oatmilkchocolate · 12/01/2025 16:54

Though I find that photo you have up of that overpumped guy really unattractive personally. And I am very attracted to physically fit men.

BobbyBiscuits · 12/01/2025 16:54

I'd imagine they'd have PTSD from all the murder they had to commit and witness. And that they would struggle to function in day to day society without being told what to do constantly. They're not taught to think for themselves. So no, I don't find the military hot. It's horrible.

Leafy74 · 12/01/2025 16:55

I doubt many of those guys are on the army.

DaftyLass · 12/01/2025 16:55

I'm married to an officer, I get the whole hot in uniform thing, but honest, they are all just regular folks.
Although when it's a grad day, or parade, and you see them all looking fine, it's easy to be fooled, haha

AudiobookListener · 12/01/2025 16:55

Brains over brawn for me. So go ahead, you'll leave one more brainy guy in the world for me.

I know two really nice, highly intelligent former army guys ( both former marines), both happily married and decent people.

DaftyLass · 12/01/2025 16:56

Also, why do you guys think they are dumb if they have muscle?
Imagine saying that about a woman who went to the gym!

Sheepareawesome · 12/01/2025 16:56

Hmm, I can see the attraction of a man who is used to taking orders and does his own laundry. Especially if he is likely to be away for months at a time too. The overly muscly look is definitely not for me though.

Same. Cheating and abuse of women was pretty much endemic. I'd rather be single forever than go near a uniformed guy ever again 😆

Givemethreerings · 12/01/2025 16:57

Which part of the military?

Officer class in the RAF is quite a different job to an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy, all very valued roles of course but often inhabited by different personality type. Muscles may vary.

I've never met a guy with a PhD and that much muscle. Or tbh, any muscle at all!

Hoppinggreen · 12/01/2025 16:58

The uniforms can be hot but many of them tend to dress badly.
So many times in my youth I agreed to dates with military men based on photos of them in uniform to find they have very questionable dress sense in civvies.
I am not clicking on that video but those men are probably not military

Killing the enemy in a combat situation is not murder. There is a definition of murder and that is not it.

Yes, some former military struggle to adapt to life outside the army, but many others do not. The two former military I know have highly successful careers that they have built after the army. And happy marriages and happy kids.

Clariana · 12/01/2025 16:58

I am married to a now retired military man, still as attractive as the day I met him. In fact I have only ever dated military men, absolutely see your point OP!

And they are like any other group of men, various different types, not all of them have issues.

Givemethreerings · 12/01/2025 16:58

A man trained to the nth degree to be clean, tidy, organised and reliable is attractive I must admit.

I never said they couldn't be intelligent! In fact the once I've met were intelligent.

You've never met my husband then.

Phd and Ironman triathlete.

Sandwichgen · 12/01/2025 17:00

i Find Jack Reacher highly fanciable in the books, but that condom full of walnuts who plays him on the tv is not attractive.

BobbyBiscuits · 12/01/2025 17:00

@oatmilkchocolate sure, but against all odds. I'd say any other career choices would be less disturbing. I'm not saying all are messed up but it's a serious issue.

Didimum · 12/01/2025 17:01

No. Instant turn off for me. In looks and lifestyle.
