Reform UK neck and neck with Labour?

1000 replies

NeatDog · 10/01/2025 11:09

Absolutely shocked to read that in a poll Reform UK are neck and neck with Labour...

About 25% polling share for Reform and Labour.

I thought Blair was the worst PM ever, but Starmer seems to be giving him a run for his money.

There are plenty of native Brits in these roles....

Nice try though 🙄

I didn't say there weren't, however there is a serious recruitment crisis in the NHS which is getting worse as time goes on. If those immigrants working in such roles leave, then it's good to know then that we have plenty people waiting to fill those critical roles.

This country must call a GE before 15 August 2029. We won’t have a country that we recognise by then.

I sincerely hope so. After 14 years of it being sucked dry I certainly don’t recognise it as the one I grew up in now.

The level of political ignorance displayed in the thread is frankly alarming.

How "must" a general election be called when the Govt is sitting on a massive majority in the House of Commons???

And don't bother giving me bullshit about the "will of the people" or the "percentage of the vote" - none of that matters. It's the number of MPs who will back the PM that matters. Nothing else.

Reform need to be banned immediately before they start to get political traction amongst the working class in the north of England.

This is all the fault of X, and I hope Keir Starmer and the Labour have a robust plan for sanctioning social media sites that allow disinformation free reign to be accessed by ordinary people who do not possess the ability to sift fact from fiction.

Frightening times.

Banned because you do not agree with them. What is this Cuba or Venezuela?

lifeturnsonadime · 10/01/2025 18:55

It is not Birmingham that I am talking about but I know Birmingham well. There are many many areas and suburbs of Birmingham that are perfectly safe, the City Centre is perfectly safe. Many are leafy and filled with Drs and Lawyers.

There are places in Birmingham that are not so safe, see Clavinova's posts and articles above.

SoapySponge · 10/01/2025 18:55

BIossomtoes · 10/01/2025 18:52

See, that’s not helpful either.

Accurate though.

It must be called before mid August 2029, as that poster said. You don't stay in Government indefinitely :)

@lifeturnsonadime Your anecdote on Cornwall is pure fiction. According to the 2021 census the vast majority are white British.

That was what I said. I said I didn't see anyone who was not white : S

cardibach · 10/01/2025 18:50

I’ve taught in Birmingham and now live in a very multicultural area. Don’t feel threatened.
Naming an area which is no go isn’t outing as you aren’t saying it’s where you live. What it is though, is impossible, because there aren’t any.

There are some areas that lone female might avoid so not sure why it’s impossible

@BIossomtoes
Yes it does. As soon as I hear one of the daft words I can't take the post seriously.
Reform voters seem do this in every single post.

The one that really irks me is "wokey lefty". Why add a 'y' onto the end?! Calling people woke is cringe as it is, why make yourself sound like a toddler trying to say "woke" too?!

Read the post, the PP said she hadn't seen a non white British person in three days.

Leftie generally irritates me, it’s straight out of the 1950s.

I don't know a male who would park their car their either.

Why risk it getting slashed or tires let down or car nicked.

The denial that areas like this exist completely baffles me.

True but it doesn't have to be called earlier unless:

(i) the Govt loses a confidence vote in the Commons, or
(ii) the PM decides to go to the country before that date, or
(iii) the King sacks him (which hasn't happened in the UK since 1834).

Reform and similar guttersnipes squealing their little heads off makes no difference one way or the other.

People need to stop underestimating Nigel Farage. As far as politicians go, whether one agrees with him or not, he is far more successful than most of the others we have seen in my lifetime (except Tony Blair).

cardibach · 10/01/2025 19:00

lifeturnsonadime · 10/01/2025 18:53

Well good for you.

You don't speak for everyone or every area.

I don't owe an explanation of where I live as a I don't wish to be identified.

In a way it is a shame because if you googled the name of the particular place you will see that even the police and local council think there is a serious issue and that it is deemed a no-go area.

I do pic t say I did speak for everyone- though you seem to think you do.
Nobody has asked you where you live. Just for an example of a ‘no go’ area - how would we know you lived there? I don’t see any mechanism police and a council would deem a place no go.

justasking111 · 10/01/2025 19:00

Wales hold their senedd election next year. That will give us an idea of how the parties are doing.

It's too soon to be taking any notice of polls

Why does the average immigrant have to be a next taxpayer when the average Briton isn’t?

Why is being a net taxpayer the sole measure of worth? Many immigrant low paid health workers and carers are not net taxpayers but the service they provide is invaluable.

Because is unsustainable duh!

Reported in local press, statements from police and statements from local councillors.

I can only speak for the one near me which is outing.

Others also exist I'm sure but I can't name them because I don't know them : S

There have always been places in cities where you have to have your wits about you. That’s not what is being implied here.
