AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

to be sick of threads asking for people's opinions on things, in which the poster gets upset if someone's opinion is not what they want to hear.

Apologies if this has been done a million times before, haven't been on here that long

But aaaaaaargh

Why post asking for opinions then get all huffy if the opinion makes you feel bad or isn't what you want to hear?

Have just encountered this a LOT today and it frankly puts me off posting on any thread which asks for my honest opinion.

Note: I will not be offended by any opinion on this topic

Do you think that they goad each other when they want a good shag???

foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 20:19

lol can you imagine? I think you may be right you know.

I have never lived next door to a couple who fight this much.

It makes me slightly eww that this is how they get their kicks ewww . Nowt so queer as folk.

What were your neighbours talking about ?

BroccoliSpears · 04/05/2008 20:20

Where's this gifted toothy baby thread then?

I'm pinned to the computer by a ravenously feeding newborn and I can't find anything to read on MN tonight.

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 20:22

AIBU is where all the argy-bargy happens and i believe some people enjoy a good scrap and would adopt any inflammatory position. conversely some poster are ethereal and not cut out for inevitable bustle of divergent opinions and upset faces all round

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 20:45

Do you think the people who have all the argy bargy on here also have the most passionate sex lives because they get all fired up?

OP posts:
HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 20:46

The gifted toothy baby thread is sadly disappointing compared to this one!!

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 20:47

an orgiastic frenzy of argy bargy.phew.no you do it no you do it NO NO OH* AGH

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 20:48

DO they shout "YABU" as foreplay?

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 20:49

That is a pretty apt reaction to this thread

mrstt · 04/05/2008 20:50

I think its probably because the answers tend to end up being bitchy and hurtful and leave the OP feeling demoralised, hurt and offended? how about that? most people genuinely want someone else's advice and its probably too much of a personal question (like "how do do I tell my friend that her daughter is badly behaved?") to ask a friend for fear that it gets back to the mum in question? they don't post the question to be attacked.

foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 20:50

oh gawd, anger does nothing for me that way but I'm beginning to realise it does A LOT for others . And I'm such a prude too .

Perhaps the louder you shout in your arguments, the more vociferous you are in bed? probably something to do with inhibitions (or lack thereof!)

Janni · 04/05/2008 20:51

Yes it's painful living in the same block of flats as a shout and shag couple, particularly if they keep late hours.

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 20:52

aibu is not the place for an explorative deep conversation.oh and if you don't like the responses - diddums dont ask a bunch of strangers then

foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 20:55

lol janni. I've been searching for a nickname for them (all our neighbours have one). I shall name them in your honour. ShoutnShag.

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 20:58

hilarious like two perverse puppet's

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 21:05

That's a lot politer than the names we call our upstairs neighbours who are hyperactive and walk around their wooden floors from morning until night..(we call them the names between ourselves of course, of course we would BVVVU to object to them walking in their house)- at least we don't hear them shagging though! If only people could know what their neighbours say about them

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 21:20

what do you call them?

My favourite ones are WitnessProtection (because they are v v v shy and never look us in the eye).

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 21:21

Ah nothing as intelligent as that..more along the lines of stomping lead footed bleeps

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 21:24

oh no, we need to christen them properly I feel. Where's Janni gone?

so I need a run down...are they a couple? and they charge about a lot noisily?

FreddysTeddy · 04/05/2008 21:25

Does your OP refer to people who post in AIBU then post things like this: "Ok, just wondered what people thought and it's clear that most people don't agree with me - which is fine - so can we leave it there?"

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 21:25

They are an older couple, they charge around noisily and move furniture around ALL day, and often leave the house holding hands...I'm sure there is scope there ..they could even be StompnShag

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 21:25

if they are posh, they could be the HyperactiveHoorays

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 21:26

Freddy - yes, that is certainly an aspect of it!!!!

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 21:26

Yes, that MUST be why they are always moving the furniture around . I think I will have to task you with having a peak in their flat to see what the offending pieces of furniture are.
