AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

to be sick of threads asking for people's opinions on things, in which the poster gets upset if someone's opinion is not what they want to hear.

Apologies if this has been done a million times before, haven't been on here that long

But aaaaaaargh

Why post asking for opinions then get all huffy if the opinion makes you feel bad or isn't what you want to hear?

Have just encountered this a LOT today and it frankly puts me off posting on any thread which asks for my honest opinion.

Note: I will not be offended by any opinion on this topic

HCTG - this is surreal. Chalk it up to good ol' MN experience. It's character forming

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 14:51

again, QS, that was me mentioning the other poster first and i accept that you might think it was a low blow. however, i had already raised it with the poster herself on the original thread so i thought 'fuck it' and posted on here. i hold my hands up if you think it was mean. i agree, but she was very annoying.

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 14:51

MrsMattie - it has to have some upsides...

Brilliant thread. Nice and challenging for a sunday afternoon.

Should I ask a question about the validity of formula feeding, to set the thread off on to another tangent?

bergentulip · 04/05/2008 15:13

Yes, please can everyone stop making this such enjoyable reading? It is lovely and sunny here and I keep coming back inside, away from my little angels(!) playing on a blanket, to check out this nonsense intelligent debate

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 15:17

auntyspan - yes, and what about people who park in parent and child spaces

Well it is raining here, and I have been waiting for the removal van with all our goods since WEDNESDAY where the FEck are they??? Did they go around westwards?

Or just in circles? Like this thread?

Aitch, oh, ok then!

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 19:41

i find it risible that people post AIBU and then get humphy if response is not an overwhelming affirmation of their OP

particularly like the

AIBU to hate all middle classes
AIBU to hate waffle eating bad tipping posh oldies
AIBU to hate people eating fast food in front of my pfb

AIBU to start a campaign of terror against my neighbours for talking in their garden after my children have gone to bed!

ooh martianbishop, our neighbours had a tremendous fight in their garden last night. Fabulous. Lots of shouting and slamming doors and then it went quiet for about 5 minutes and they stormed inside and had noisy make-up sex . I hope this won't be a pattern for the whole summer!

HereComeTheGirls · 04/05/2008 20:02

You should have turned the hose on them while they were smooching

OP posts:
eekamoose · 04/05/2008 20:05

Yes you are!

People post their position and then defend it. Good on them for not collapsing under the weight of other people's opinions.

And anyway most long threads have little clusters of YANBU or YABU all the way through.

I think it is good to see people bitching and ranting with each other on this forum. Reflects real life.

Mumsnet does not = lots of fluffy kindly types always backing each other up.

foxinsocks · 04/05/2008 20:07

oh the row was just too fascinating. They are always rowing and then making up. I think it's how their relationship works .
