How would you pronounce the 'name' Eieoie?

OP posts:
Phase2 · 07/01/2025 10:17

Eieoie

If it's English than I would apply sounds as follows

Deceive Ee
O oh
Believe Ee

So 'Ee-oh-ee'

Weird

Twoshoesnewshoes · 07/01/2025 10:18

ee fah

Mymanyellow · 07/01/2025 10:18

IncidentallyAndAccidentally · 07/01/2025 09:53

Old Macdonald had a farm.

Beat me to it.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 07/01/2025 10:18

Hilarious.🙄

ChristmasKelpie · 07/01/2025 10:19

I would pronounce it as Oh you poor wee soul, did your parents not like you ?

BunnyLake · 07/01/2025 10:19

Like the sound Phoebe made when Ross was playing bagpipes.

BaronessBomburst · 07/01/2025 10:19

'She who steps on Lego'.
I read it as Eye-oh-ee.

Joystir59 · 07/01/2025 10:20

Eeaww eeaww. A bit like a fire engine noise.

SuffolkUnicorn · 07/01/2025 10:20

muggletops · 07/01/2025 10:22

bigkidatheart · 07/01/2025 10:23

notprincehamlet · 07/01/2025 09:54

Old McDonald had a farm E-I-E-O-I-E

This!

Oreyt · 07/01/2025 10:27

Unless you live in the country it originated I wouldn't bother.

amoreoamicizia · 07/01/2025 10:28

Ey-wa- "Eie" = ey and "oie" as in the French (using "wa" as a crude approximation of the "oie" sound in "Savoie" etc.).

theelectricnorth · 07/01/2025 10:30

Ee-I-wah

JustMyView13 · 07/01/2025 10:30

I’d butcher that.
I’d have to ask the person. Or hope the surname is Smith. Mr/Ms Smith.

Fluffyholeysocks · 07/01/2025 10:30

Consonant please Carol 😀

NoahsTortoise · 07/01/2025 10:30

Ee-oh-ee

?!

poppymango · 07/01/2025 10:31

Is this actually a real name? Any child lumbered with this would face a lifetime of Old MacDonald jokes, I'm afraid.

Mansionscoldandgrey · 07/01/2025 10:32

Jimberly

Rinkytoo · 07/01/2025 10:33

Vowelie (vowel-y)

PizzaPowder · 07/01/2025 10:34

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 07/01/2025 09:53

You know that kid will have the nickname “Old McDonald” by the end of the first day.

First thing that came to my mind too!

Dreamingoftheunknown · 07/01/2025 10:40

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/01/2025 09:51

Ee-oh-ee.
But perhaps it’s one of those Irish names whose pronunciation (to my English eyes anyway) bears no relation to how it’s spelt.

Edited

It’s not Irish.
Irish names are phonetic in the Irish language but difficult if you don’t speak it. Can’t think of any that don’t have consonants though.

I really wouldn’t know how to pronounce Eieoie, but I’d ask.
