To think that Musk is now overstepping himself and the UK gvt should threaten action

Musk has just posted this on twitter (among other unhinged tweets). To me this reads as a thinly veiled threat to democratically elected UK MPs and actually the UK government should consider sanctions to the US if he continues this attack when he enters the White House?

What is genuinely is your complete lack of self awareness.

Thanks @Goldenbear I'd argue the same for you considering what you said upthread in regards to my post that you projected the incorrect info onto.

madgesb · 07/01/2025 14:47

Why was my post deleted anyway. I said it was scary to project future crimes onto things that hadn't happened referencing the Tom Cruise film. Why is that disgusting?

Regardless of what posters think of Musk as a person he has at least brought the matter to public attention and that there is now an impetus to implement the recommendations from the previous enquiry which have been ignored for the past 2.5 years by both the Conservatives and Labour.

Or as Maggie Oliver a former Greater Manchester Police (GMP) detective who resigned in 2012 over poor handling of abuse cases in Rochdale, said it has taken "an international spotlight on our country" to prompt the measures announced by the home secretary.

"nothing had happened in the two-and-a-half years since those recommendations were made".

Maggie Oliver also responded to Starmer’s statement with anger

Former police detective Maggie Oliver, who helped blow the whistle on the scandal in Rochdale said she was 'incandescent with rage' at the PM's comments

‘I am no far-Right activist. I am a woman who gave 16 years of my life to the police and protecting children was No 1 priority in my life.

'All the victims that I know and that we support have had their lives destroyed. To write them off as far-Right extremists is insulting in the extreme.’

1dayatatime · 07/01/2025 14:49

And for those defending Starmer and the Labour Party over this Maggie Oliver (a former Greater Manchester Police (GMP) detective who was the whistle blower that brought these sexual abuse crimes to light and resigned in 2012 over poor handling of abuse cases in Rochdale,) added:

She had spoken to victims who were "raging" about the prime minister's remarks on Monday, after Keir Starmer hit out at politicians "calling for inquiries because they want to jump on a bandwagon of the far-right".

Ms Oliver said victims she had spoken to felt it was "accusing anyone who is concerned about this problem of being a far-right racist".

Sorry double post by accident.

Musk, with this grooming stuff, is trying to get one in before the online harms bill holds Twitter/X accountable for hosting links to Pr0n and CSE links on Only Fans

FKAT · 07/01/2025 15:11

I don't give a shit about Musk and his agent provacateur tactics.

All I know is when I go on X today, I get the voices of women's rights campaigners, rape gang survivors, feminists, activists, professionals and politicians all discussing this issue openly and constructively, with citations and data and experience and nuance and feeling free to disagree with each other in good faith. If you think it's all Andrew Tate wannabes and far right shitposters, that's your algorithm.

How is it "inaction" to state the intention of implementing the Kay report? To claim that those critical of Musk don't care about the abuse of women and girls and want it swept under the carpet is a disgusting allegation.

Just as its disgusting to allege that those who care about this matter only do so because they're racist. And that's essentially what Starmer has said. He was head of public prosecution when Brown swept this under the carpet, and he was rewarded by being made PM.

Maybe I've misunderstood, in which case it would be good if you could explain, what is the problem with Musk drawing attention to this? Because if he hadn't, we certainly wouldn't be discussing it.

Annabella92 · 07/01/2025 15:26

BIossomtoes · 07/01/2025 14:33

It doesn’t matter where the abuse was coming from. Its source is irrelevant.

Disagree. Phillips won by a slim margin, less than 700 votes against a pro-Palestine Islamic convert. That constituency is approaching 50% Muslim population, with a proportion of those considering it haram to vote in parliamentary elections. She cannot afford to alienate Muslims. So naturally, she will do the absolute bare minimum she can't get away with when it comes to protecting or securing justice for those girls.

He's King of the Trolls and now he's set all is troll minions on the UK government armed with bullshit and lies.

Goldenbear · 07/01/2025 14:37

My god where did you acquire those reasoning skills, the big book of bogus politics!

Can you explain what the matter is with Musk remarking on this matter then? If its not that you don't want people to look because what they see looks bad. I'd love it if someone could.

iwishihadaname · 07/01/2025 15:29

he thinks uk needs to be liberated from our government. If the uk people wish this they will vote them out at next election I for one would stand up against the American army
if Americans did invade I wonder how many would want to leave uk and no way to but to cross the channel on small boats.

He is a shitposter for sure. But he has every right to comment publicly surely. Its not like he's having secret meetings with the PM, now that really is influence! (No clamour on mumsnet for the minutes of Bill Gates meeting with Starmer recently)

What lies, can you tell me what things are untrue

Abhannmor · 07/01/2025 15:31

Didn't Brazil close Twitter when he started interfering there? China don't take any shit either. The only language bullies understand.

I'd like to be liberated from Starmers government.

Bet you'd have loved celebrities criticising Johnson when he was in power and be liberated from him.

OrchardDoor · 07/01/2025 15:33

He's a rabble rouser. Yes, there will always be a minority of lower intelligence people who will fall for it, but the best thing the rest of us can do is ignore him. It's what he least wants us to do. He's basically a tantruming toddler who wants attention.

Then vote for another party if celbs were British they can criticise their own government and prime minister like anyone else. I never voted for labour but they won so here we are Musk is not British and he said he wants to liberate uk like they have done like other countries they have done that by going to war with said country.
