To think Elon Musk has gone nuts

What on earth is going on with him. Calling for Nagel Farage to resign. Now wanting the PM to resign amd said we have a tyrannical government. It's all a bit odd.

@BourbonsAreOverated yep and if Elon wanted to actually help- which he doesn't , maybe stop picking on politicians who do a lot for the victims - Jess may not be everyone's cup of tea but she's a doer and I have a lot of time for her

His comments were in response to her refusal of a request for an enquiry into Oldham.

I don't agree with Elon Musks comments but nor do I think Jess Phillips has done anything for victims of grooming gangs or women in general. I remember her including a boy in a list of murdered women she was supposed to read in parliament. Of course it was appalling that a boy was murdered but the list was specifically supposed to be about male violence towards women.

I don’t agree with all her views. But I do like her, she’s passionate and, like you say, a doer who has helped many and wants to help many more. We definitely need more MPs like her and I wish she was my MP.

He's just put this up. Quite a reasonable point.

He cares so much about his UK family that when one got in touch with Elon, Elon responded ‘What do you want?’

Really warms the heartstrings. Not!

Elon Musk's 'poor' UK relatives claim he snubbed them with four brutal words

Marshall Robinson and his sister Shane live in a fishing port in Lanchashire, a long way from the White House and Mar-a-Lago.

No he isn’t. He’s saying the people pushing for an enquiry are jumping on the far right band wagon. It’s a tactic he is using to discredit calls for an enquiry. Let’s be honest, Labour have been pushed into a corner over this issue. They never wanted to have to deal with it.

No he’s not. Listen again.
And anyway that’s not we were talking about. You said he was accusing them of smear tactics. He’s accusing a very specific person/group of people of that.

Are you joking - Jess Phillips hasn't done anything for women?! You clearly haven't performed even the most perfunctory of Googles on Jess Phillips then.

@user243245346 that would be the Tommy Robinson with millions of deluded 'followers'( who he made very good money off) posting agitating rubbish that turned out to be rubbish just before those riots started. Him and Farage may not be actually out there causing trouble on a personal level , nope they just make money from others and have flag waving foot soldiers to do the dirty work. They know where their bread is buttered- same goes for people like Alison Pearson and Hartley brewer etc- wouldn't be suprised if they know they are talking shit but like the £300ka year etc

Tommy Robinson has not been charged with any wrongdoing in connection with the riots in the summer. For anything he has posted. I don't know the details of every post he makes (nor do I follow him or pay much attention to him) but given all the prosecutions I find it unlikely that he incited people to riot or commit violence.

Alison Pearson and Julia HB are journalists. You might not agree with them (I certainly don't on lots of issues) but they should be permitted to speak freely regardless of whether I agree with what they are saying or not.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 11:16

I think many people need to be reminded their is big money to be made spouting reactionary bollocks that appeals to many people who feel disillusioned in UK (and that's not hard to feel) - be it GBnews or columns or guest spots or 'talks' etc- There are far less opportunities in media/journalism to make big money by being centre left or even really 'on the left' so we end up with a load of smiley younger faces who remind me of US TV evangelists prepared to do what it takes for those big dollars!! A lot of them come across as somewhat thick but with good hair . Probably go home , whack on some Pink Floyd and read Private Eye in their luxury apartment .

So she deserves the abuse?

heres her acceptance speech

she’s done more for highlighting violence against women than any other mp she’s worked tirelessly in the face of threats and bullying in and out of Parliament.

like I say I don’t agree with all her views but I also appreciate her work.

  • He's changed all the algoriths on X so that everyone on it gets to see his stupid racist messages. He's literally forcing his opinion on people who don't care and don't want to see it. •

This is more silliness and isn't true. If you don't want to see what Elon Musk has to say on X you can block him. You say you're not on X anyway and read reports of what he says in the media. Just don't read the media stories if you don't want- you are not forced to read them.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 11:21

@user243245346 I agree about the journalists- I'm all for free speech but I do think as I've said it often has an agenda for their paymasters and people should be aware of it ( same goes for Owen jones by the way - works both ways)

Tommy- nope- you are wrong, at one point he couldn't leave Cyprus for Uk as was likely to be arrested. It was big news at the time - in fact I'm not sure if he has been back at all- must check - he was posting absolute unsubstantiated falsehoods and inciting. Trump was clearly inciting his maga crowd back in 2021 - is he in prison - ? No

noblegiraffe · 07/01/2025 11:22

Some people here don’t seem to understand how propaganda and disinformation work.

You don’t need to tell people to riot to actively help create the situation in which rioting is likely.

See Donald Trump and the Jan 6th insurrection.

A list she was supposed to read? You know this list is entirely here doing and she’s been forcing it to happen for years? So she made one mistake and you think she’s done nothing? If that mistake even happened, I don’t recollect it.
She hasn’t ’refused an inquiry’ either. She’s pointed out that the national work has been done and what’s needed now is a local inquiry, which was, incidentally, the Tories’ position before the election and seems to be what the victims would like.

It is true did you not see his update note for Britain.

OneAmberFinch · 07/01/2025 11:25

How can you watch Jess Phillips' acceptance speech and come away with the idea that there isn't a growing problem with men from extremely patriarchal, conservative cultures becoming increasingly involved in our politics and threatening our way of life, i.e., women's right to be part of public life and to work on behalf of women and girls?

I'm really, really glad Jess won her seat - I vastly prefer it to the alternative. If nothing changes from our current path, she will lose it at the next election. Which will be for the worse for women and girls in Britain.

user243245346 · 07/01/2025 11:25

"So she deserves the abuse?

No one deserves to be abused. Equally no one is above criticism. I don't agree with your analysis of Jess Phillips - I don't think her record shows a record of standing up for women and girls in the face of opposition. Look at her response to attacks in Germany for example or her lack of support for Rosie Duffield.

He was jailed for 18 months for contempt of court for repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee.

Imagine if his far right numbskulls had killed that Syrian refugee based on Tommy’s lies?

Lol - I didn't see it no. And I'm on Twitter/X and didn't block him. So it just shows that not only are you not forced to read his witterings, they may not even be brought to your attention.

He can say what he likes. If I don't like it I will scroll on. If it's particularly objectionable I will block. That's a free society

Why would you want another enquiry instead of action on the enquiry that was completed in 2022?

What’s the agenda here?

Except there’s no such thing as free speech.

‘A number of different UK laws outlaw hate speech. For example, section 4 of the Public Order Act 1986 makes it an offence for a person to use “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviours that causes, or is likely to cause, another person harassment, alarm or distress”.’

It is true, as I am sure you know. His Tweets appear in my feed even though they're absolutely not something I would choose to look at. I've blocked him before and yet there they are. Same with a number of other right wing agitators. It's the reason I am not on X - can't be arsed with that tiresome nonsense.

I'd have to never look at any media ever not to know what the South African twat was banging on about. My cat probably knows.

They haven't missed it, for some bizarre reason this poster is fangirling (or fanboying) for Musk. Maybe they're another of Musk's aliases? Lol.
