What on earth is going on with him. Calling for Nagel Farage to resign. Now wanting the PM to resign amd said we have a tyrannical government. It's all a bit odd.

And there were inquiries into that so nobody was focusing solely on Trump.
But he did incite the riots that's a fact. And a former president not recognizing a lawful election is way more worrying.
But it seems you can buy yourself into the government anyway so it really doesn't matter anyway.

Peacefully …..He did not incite riots!
you’re hilarious!

“Peacefully & patriotically”

Trump telling patriots to go home. This clip means more than most people know…

Sigh. Is this too long and factual for you? It's from the AP. Honestly, Musk/Trump stans are incredibly gullible.

NATIONAL GUARD RESPONSE
CLAIM: Trump said he offered 10,000 National Guard troops to Pelosi and “she now admits that she turned it down.” Referring to a video Pelosi’s daughter took that day, Trump claimed that Pelosi said, “I take full responsibility for January 6.”
THE FACTS: Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that he offered National Guard troops to the Capitol and that his offer was rejected. He has previously said he signed an order for 20,000 troops to go to the Capitol.
While Trump was involved in discussions in the days prior to Jan. 6 about whether the National Guard would be called ahead of the joint session, he issued no such order or formal request before or during the rioting, and the guard’s arrival was delayed for hours as Pentagon officials deliberated over how to proceed.
In a 2022 interview with the Democratic-led House committee that investigated the attack, Christopher Miller, the acting Defense secretary at that time, confirmed that there was no order from the president.
The Capitol Police Board makes the decision on whether to call National Guard troops to the Capitol, and two members of that board — the House Sergeant at Arms and the Senate Sergeant at Arms — decided through informal discussions not to call the guard ahead of the joint session that was eventually interrupted by Trump’s supporters, despite a request from the Capitol Police. The House Sergeant at Arms reports to the Speaker of the House, who was then Pelosi, and the Senate Sergeant at Arms reported to then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. But Pelosi’s office has said she was never informed of the request.
The board eventually requested the guard’s assistance after the rioting was underway, and Pelosi and McConnell called the Pentagon and begged for military assistance. Pence, who was in a secure location inside the building, also called the Pentagon to demand reinforcements.
In a video recently released by House Republicans, Pelosi is seen in the back of a car on Jan. 6 and talking to an aide. In the raw video recorded by her daughter, Pelosi is angrily asking her aide why the National Guard wasn’t at the Capitol when the rioting started. “Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” she asks.
“We did not have any accountability for what was going on there and we should have, this is ridiculous,” Pelosi says, while her aide responds that security officials thought they had sufficient resources. “They clearly didn’t know and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more,” Pelosi says in the video.
There is no mention of a request from Trump, and Pelosi never said that she took “full responsibility for Jan. 6.”
In a statement, Pelosi spokesman Ian Krager said Trump’s repeated comments about Pelosi are revisionist history.
“Numerous independent fact-checkers have confirmed again and again that Speaker Pelosi did not plan her own assassination on January 6th,” Krager said. “The Speaker of the House is not in charge of the security of the Capitol Complex — on January 6th or any other day of the week.”

I don't think anyone's saying the FBI couldn't have performed their duties better, nor do I think anyone's focussing solely on Trump. Because some of us can hold two ideas in our heads simultaneously - The FBI and other law enforcement should not have missed the things they missed, they should have been more prepared, and the riot did in fact happen and can be attributed to Trump and his more rabid supporters.

Anyway, the whole conversation was in answer to the right-wing-media-addled poster claiming Capital Police abetted the rioters and the 'CIA' was involved. Not about whether there were law enforcement failures.

And, by the way, if we're concerned about overlooking systemic failures in law enforcement, do we believe that's going to be corrected under adjudicated (soon to be convicted) felon Trump?

Note: The New York Post is not a reliable source.

Well, he’s gone one step further and has started a poll on X asking if the US should liberate the UK from its tyrannical government. Just like the US has done to so many other countries.

No way - I knew it. How's the poll looking? I'm actually more impressed with Farage than I expected, unless this is all some staged scenario to make us like Farage. Doubt it though - don't think Musk would sacrifice himself for anyone.
Hopefully this will show everyone what a loon he is and how pathetic and dangerous Trump is buying his victory by giving this nutcase control of America.

Feelingathomenow · 07/01/2025 05:39

Alexandra2001 · 06/01/2025 22:27

But Brazil did.... the courts there closed down X and X had to abide by Brazil's rulings.
37 countries have blocked access to Twitter/X since 2015...

If a user can't get onto X via wifi or 4/5G... how many will be bothered to use it?

Personally, I think it’s dangerous to start allowing governments to close down access to social forums ostensibly because they don’t like who owns it or what is being said. I think tik tok is far more dangerous tbh

Oh come on, you do realise he’s winding people up don’t you? He gets off on setting people against each other. He’s basically organising digital cock fighting.

Yes this is what I think too. Ditto the comic book villain / Bond villain comments.

I think he is a massive narcissist. I think he's realised, like Trump and Farage, that it's easy and fun to spout absolute bullshit that will get the uneducated masses baying in support.

The way he's treated women is narcissistic too. Reels them in then buggers off and takes their babies away (in the case of Grimes) whilst impregnating someone else at the same time, and now wants all his baby mommas to live together on some kind of concubine compound.

Who are the ‘uneducated masses’?

Better off to do it by deleting X from your own use

Do as you wish. It’s not really telling you personally to, I don’t mind if people do or don’t go on it.

Unless you’re calling for it to be banned as in pp. They could delete it instead. We shouldn’t close down X in the U.K., it’s not good use of state control

Maybe you’re deluded or a liar. Our tour guide was amazing. He captivated my 10 and 14 year old DC’s for the whole day. He spoke with such passion about Martin Luther King jr and his comments were hugely thought provoking at the Vietnam and Korean War memorials.

Yes there is a balance but when the head of X is saying "Phillips deserves all she gets" after earlier calls on his platform to kill her and indeed Starmer, whats the alternative?

He is calling for the an elected Govt to be overthrown, so the only way is ban his platform, as over 37 countries have already done....

We shouldn’t close down X in the U.K., it’s not good use of state control

Should Musk be able to do and say as they wish?
This guy is crazy, look up the effects of Ketamine use on the brain, he is influencing many european governments and elections and as i said earlier, it would need to be done in conjunction with the EU.

Brazil, hardly a totalitarian state, did stand up to Musk and he backed down on all they demanded.....

Not standing up to bullies like Trump and Musk will not end well for Europe.

Farage is still toadying up to Musk though, calling him a ‘remarkable individual’.

Farage cannot pass up even the remotest chance of having some sort of access to the Musk money. Nauseating.

It’s the same sort of rhetoric that got Jo Cox killed by a far right supporter who thought she was too supportive of immigrants.

I fear we’re sleepwalking into another tragedy.

You do understand the levels of corruption in Brazil don’t you?

He can call for whatever he wants, doesn’t mean anyone has to act on it? People call for things all the time, yes death threats should be dealt with, but really the best way to deal with musk is a polite pat in the head and ignore. If governments allow themselves to be influenced by Musk then more fool them. The important question is why are people and governments allowing themselves to be so concerned with musk. Get rid of him, someone else will rise in his place. We need to address our reactions to such situations. That’s entirely within our control and the frenzied frothing we have witnessed over the last few days reallly isn’t it. It’s exactly what he wants. People keep saying “musk is dangerous” why is he dangerous? Hes not waving round nuclear weapons, he’s just typing words - how we react is down to us.

Yes it’s people amplifying and hanging on every post he puts up. Agree with last line

user1471538283 · 07/01/2025 07:50

I agree he is nuts and I think we shouldn't engage with him but keep a very close eye on him. He reminds me of Amin and his nuttery with the Queen and our PM then. Amin was a criminal and Musk probably is.

It also worries me that taking too much notice of him hides whatever fuckery Trump is or will be up to. Musk thinks he's got Trump over a barrel but I bet it's the other way around.

Musk would see the world burn to be king of the ashes. Like Trump.

I think he is dangerous. He's not like your average Joe Bloggs posting about other countries, he's one of the richest and most influential men in the world. He's also in bed with one of the most powerful men in the world (Trump). I'm sure he influences him. Not only this but he controls one of the world's most widely used social media platform, X. He has completely changed the algorithms. I'm a left leaning person who followed people like Jeremy Corbyn, but even my feed became full of right wing racist post, many of which I knew were blatantly untrue. He plays a key part in riling people up and contributes to civil unrest.
