To think Elon Musk has gone nuts

1000 replies

Viviennemary · 06/01/2025 18:15

What on earth is going on with him. Calling for Nagel Farage to resign. Now wanting the PM to resign amd said we have a tyrannical government. It's all a bit odd.

Oh - and I am one of the 13 per cent. I’m appalled at the press coverage. Has the UK gone insane? This is one of the biggest cover ups in the west in modern times yet there is hand wringing that the wrong people are angry about it)

But there hasn’t been a cover up.

There already has been a national inquiry (not a “public inquiry” which is a very expensive and slow process, costing the taxpayer millions and taking years to report, but a different type). It reported in 2022, just as Liz Truss was hitting the headlines for her contest with a lettuce.

There have also been, and continue to be, local inquiries that have fed directly into action plans - which are iterative and have been going on for years.

There have already been numerous trials that have put many, many perpetrators behind bars.

All this has been in the news for years. What benefit would there be to yet another inquiry at this stage?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/01/2025 23:43

BeethovenNinth · 06/01/2025 23:31

Why the outrage? I would really like a national inquiry into the multiple and systemic rapes or young girls in his country. And this is something that is nuts to obsess about?

I tell you what is nuts - the fact that people are more concerned that Musk has strong views on the matter

Read my lips...there was one. The Tories ignored its findings.

What do you think about the findings of the multiple inquiries that have been done already @BeethovenNinth.

Why do you think another enquiry will solve anything? Are you perhaps being played by the RW press here?🤔

What are your opinions on how these findings were acted or not on by the previous Tory govt?

I would bet my bottom dollar you didn’t give a monkeys about any of this until a few days ago

No my point is quite subtle, too subtle for you it seems. Shall I explain it to you in plain English? Think about how overused the term is. It has become a meaningless slur attached to anyone who voices the merest hint of concerns about the sacred cows of the left. What you term far right isn’t. I should congratulate you though. People like you ensure that Reform will play a major role in the next parliament.

pretty sure during the riots, stopping cars that contained anyone not white , speaking in British accent and dragging them out is far right.

Extremists never recognise themselves, Musk has been radicalised, maybe because his daughter is trans and hates him led him down the rabbit hole, but he's deffo been 'Red Pilled' - I have a friend the same, thinks exactly like you and has no idea how radicalised they have become,

Its easy to tell someone like this , far left or far right, its impossible for them to consider two sides of any debate .

This is my last response to you because I've got better things to do, like worming our Labrador.

You've failed to name a single person who was jailed for being Far Right. Because you can't.

Too busy being extra specially subtle, it seems.

Well there’s one prominent video showing a police officer moving a gate and letting/ushering people through from the cordoned off area.
And then there’s the very sedate moving through the corridors with police offers standing calmly watching.

The vitriol directed at Elon Musk here is misplaced. The anger should be directed at successive governments and the entire political establishment, as Brendan O'Neill has pointed out, who have never been held accountable.

Musk has 290 million followers, and irrespective of what one thinks of him, his audience and reach are enormous. Really
not good for Britain’s reputation or soft power abroad.

So 100 then….

As I said. Labour Party members, in their own time and paying their own travel costs. Not members of HM Government, and not using taxpayer money. Conservative Party members did the same thing, supporting the Republicans, as did Reform.

One of my siblings is a hill staffer who was in the building that day, and I can assure you, that's now how it happened. I realise, however, that to those down a right wing media rabbit hole, there's not much factual persuasion that will make a difference.

While there's not such thing as completely unbiased information, Politifact (quoted below) is about as close to neutral as you can find:

But the viral, 14-second video clip that some are using to claim that officers willingly let rioters past barricades and into the Capitol is being misrepresented online, said journalist Marcus Diapola, who shot the video.
"They definitely didn't just open the barriers," Diapola told PolitiFact. "The pro-Trump rioters made a fist like they were going to punch the cops, which is why I started recording. Then (police) backed off the barricades.
"They were completely outnumbered," Diapola said. "There wouldn't have been any point in fighting."
Diapola said the video was taken around 2 p.m. near the northeast entrance of the Capitol and estimated that the officers were outnumbered "100 to 1," with only around 30 officers spread out between three entrances on that side of the Capitol, compared with thousands of protesters.
Another video, taken on the west end of the Capitol, shows rioters quickly overwhelming police barricades and eventually forcing the officers to retreat.
While we found no evidence that officers allowed the mob in willingly, the security breakdown that enabled rioters to breach the building is under intense scrutiny, and officials have said an investigation is imminent.

So the pictures of broken windows, smashed up offices and police with batons are made up? Those are official Reuter pictures not sone video supported by Tucker Carlson.
Also stepping back while the violent protesters were ransacking the place was just common sense. Many more people would have died otherwise.
By the way did you ask the tour guide where he was on January 6th?

Anyone remember a weather man called David Icke. Watching the headlines showing the tweets this evening. I was reminded of him

Was he the one that thought Prince Phillip was a lizard, or something?

Phthia · 06/01/2025 23:56

I would love to know precisely what Musk has done to support rape and abuse victims apart from pontificating about politicians. With his money, he could make a real difference if he actually cared.

Well Elon Musk, it would seem, has just been elected to be the leader of the “most powerful country on earth”

And he’s calling for a change in government, and a change in opposition leadership too in this country. He’s already told us he’d like civil war here.

Haha, as if Elon and Trump aren't two of the most thin-skinned individuals whose entire raison d'etre is settling scores with people who've laughed at them.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 00:03

@Lonelycrab - totally agree

There appear to be an awful lot of activists on topics like this - particularly ones who had no issue with the Tory's ignoring multiple reports on various things or paying lip service to them but doing nothing- change of gvt and any chance to discredit the new gvt when they are 6 months in - of which 2 were recess and conference and suddenly the activists are once more like flies round shit - you know the expression the Tory's used for years from 2010 'the mess of the last government' - never has it been more appropriate than now.

it's not the topic that's the issue with musk if it was highlighted by him in a calm thoughtful way - but that isn't the case- he basically goes around implying that other democratic country's are basket cases - whereas the US has just voted in a sleazy convicted liar, has various atrocities committed by Random's it seems on a monthly basis be it shootings, terrorism, lone wolf fruitcakes with guns - the list is endless - may I suggest musk concentrates his efforts in a bit of inward looking at the US and to the person saying it reflects badly on the UK - I think many of us have a very poor impression of the USA too at the moment in actually giving people like Musk or Trump any credence.

Verbena17 · 07/01/2025 00:00

Hmm you said my facts were wrong - implying ALL of my facts were wrong.

By implying that party funds were used, you implied illegal or immoral activity - in this sense, getting one fact wrong distorted (deliberately?) the whole of your 'reporting' of 'facts'.

The overuse of the term "far-right" significantly weakens its impact and risks oversimplifying complex political ideologies. When such labels are applied too broadly or carelessly, we end up on dangerous ground by diluting their meaning, making it harder to call out actual extremism.

Repeated too often, the term becomes just another buzzword, losing its effectiveness and failing to convey the weight it once did.
On the sex and gender board, a poster pointed out that accusations of transphobia now often elicit an eye roll (outside the student union).

Hmm, you haven’t mentioned the members of the CIA who had infiltrated the crowd 😉

No, because it's not true. Also, I hate to say it, I think you mean the FBI (also not true).

Can you provide one fact-based resource for that claim? FBI or CiA. I'll take either. Thanks!
