Good day to bury bad news - 20th jan 2025

Remember this little email
BBC News | UK POLITICS | Spin memo row duo quit

Guess what's happening on the 20th jan 2025 ?

Trump's Inauguration Day of course and given the fact all main stream media will be bleating on about it from the week before till the week after, how easy it would be for these events to be missed.

So keep it simple and ask yourself how all the events above that all occurred at different times all now start at the same time.

How convent for all these things to start on the same day a huge worldwide event. I think its government steered and definitely not unreasonable to think these events have been scheduled then to hide bad news

Who is Ricky Jones? The ex-Labour councillor who has appeared in court

Councillor Ricky Jones was suspended by Labour after his speech in Walthamstow during the recent riots

As someone who works in the media I still expect these to be covered well. Trump’s inauguration really isn’t that important over here that news outlets won’t run anything else

ExtraOnions · 03/01/2025 21:17

…I’ll remember to wear my tinfoil hat.

Depends what if you think anyone in this country is bothered about the inauguration.. I’ve never watched one in my life.

It doesnt matter what you say you watch or don't. All the msm will be as they did for the US elections.

Clearly not spent much time round the criminal justice system if you think this is remotely possible to co-ordinate.

How many individual courts, judges, available witnesses/experts etc do you think are in on it? And who are you suggesting is pulling the strings?

Some of these court dates will have been set before the US elections even happened!

ShesNotACowShesAFox · 03/01/2025 21:21

Also you will get one or two BBC and Sky etc correspondents in Washington to cover the inauguration but many, many more regional and local reporters will still be in court. Trials will last for some weeks and until the verdicts may get little fanfare - such is the nature of quite restrictive court reporting.

Nothing to see here.

It’s not the same as the election. Elections are many hours of changing news and reporting from all over the country. An inauguration doesn’t carry nearly as much interest.

Also trials will last for many weeks, no one will care about the inauguration by the 21st. You’ll get the odd piss taking video on social media afterwards but that’ll be about it

Crikey, you have too much time on your hands.

Tell me in detail! why then all the court dates appeared in days after the riots. Of course dates can be coordinated.
Perhaps you aren't far enough up the food chain to be aware of this!

All recent inaugurations since 1977 have happened on 20th Jan , so the date was already decided on for inauguration date even before the election.
If I can find that out why couldn't you ? or doesn't that suit your viewpoint!

Just a bit - I have time to waste before my next contract, recruitment agencies were taking some time this week to start providing work offers

If someone wants to suggest the Labour government is deliberately burying bad news, a bit of logic and common sense isn't going to stop them. 🙄

Ummmm I didn’t say the BBC don’t cover it. In fact k said they DO cover. It. But it won’t be the only thing they cover on the 20th.

Do you understand that trial take some weeks? And I imagine they are happening on the same week because they happened in the same week and it eventually take X amount of weeks to take a case to trial

I agree it is much harder but doesn't stop it happening.

Not all things can be shared on social media hence we probably wont hear about it till the end

why then all the court dates appeared in days after the riots.

Because they pled guilty. If any had pled innocent they'd be waiting months/years for a court date same as everyone else.

There won’t be much of a fanfare about it until the end because of how court reporting and restrictions work.

But if you care OP go along to the court case. Courts are public spaces and you’re more than welcome to sit in

I do love the irony though of OP saying “No one will report on this” and links to media reports 😂

You do realise hilary term starts on 13th Jan this year?

Ghosttofu99 · 03/01/2025 22:01

Does anyone really care about Trump’s 2nd inauguration? I don’t.

I think being a Monday changes things as lots of trial start on a Monday
23/29th July within a 7 day time frame

and the end of these won’t be inauguration day

that said the time it takes for these things to appear in the courts means people move on

Its clever, isn't it.

Though I do wonder why court dates for one of those events only seemed to be sped up, after a private prosecution was launched.
