Please do not fall for Elon Musk.He is using this issue to whip up racial hatred and fear in the UK as he has in the US. If we are not careful we will end up with that twat, Farage, in power and his dangerous dunderheads like 30pLee as Home Secretary. They are disgusting and dangerous. Calling on the King to dissolve the government is ludicrous and ignorant and dog whistle politics.
That said, there needs to be a national inquiry and actual action taken over this issue. The last recommendations have been known for two years. The Tories took no action, Labour have now refused to act.
There is a fear about dealing with this issue without causing significant race-related social disorder by muslim men in these communities and by the right whipping up more anti-muslim hatred in the UK. In the meantime, it continues and it is utterly disgusting and disgraceful.
We don't know how to deal with it is the truth- without the above happening and we actually don't know what to do to deal with the men (and the social issues surrounding the girls) to stop it.
It is in many of our towns and cities . We live in the north-east and I know of two families through my job where white, working-class girls have been 'groomed' by men from an area of our biggest city, at 16 left their families and now live in rented flats (provided by these men)in the area of the city where these men live, with other young white working-class women their age (they are all aged over 16 but young). They now consider themselves muslim, are controlled, expected to dress and behave like muslim women, live in a muslim community that accepts this arrangement and it is not questioned . The men, who are older than them, and married with families, live elsewhere and 'visit' . Some of these young women now have children . The two I know think they have made a choice, do not consider themselves 'groomed' and think it is just culturally different to what their families are used to.
There are probably much worse scenarios I am unaware of locally but the point I am making is how difficult it can be to address. It is not as clear cut as we might think.
Police and social services have been involved for a number of years with no action taken that has resulted in being able to stop it. They have taken action but it has been ineffective or weak- it never addresses the issue. There have been groups of men tried and imprisoned in this community for assaults /abuse of younger girls. It has made little difference to it happening.
