FLU FLU GO AWAY

PostpartumMama · 01/01/2025 23:37

Not really an AIBU but just posting for traffic

I am getting so cross & fed up now. We are on day 10 of the Flu in our house. Kids first, then DH & I.

Such a waste of the last week. Anyone else that has had this bad flu, fed up!!

Not even sure why I'm posting this.. guess I'm getting a bit sick of being stuck in the house with no1 knew to speak to lol x

Did they not get the vaccine at school?

PostpartumMama · 01/01/2025 23:41

Oh yes my DD did, however not my 5 month old baby. DH adamant he is getting it going forward.. as this has just been a shambles of a week. The pain suffering we've been in while looking after 2 very young kids has been torture.. think we are through the worst of it now though but still lingering and DH still very ill.

I think less vaccines were given out for free this year

PostpartumMama · 02/01/2025 00:05

My DD had the nasal drops vaccine. Still got flu.. with 40degree + temperatures. My baby still high temps and awful cough.

I am just very fed up. Wasted the holidays. Christmas celebrations ruined & haven't left the house since Thursday.

DD has got this awful flu bug even she had the flu vaccine, and my lovely friend too, so I'm not even sure it necessarily helps, tho so far I haven't got it and I'm vaccinated. Hope you're all better soon.💐

ForeverPombear · 02/01/2025 00:09

I had it a few weeks back. My BF got it first, he hasn't had the flu jab and got it really badly. I got it after, have had the flu jab and it was bad but nowhere near as bad. My DM, step DF, MIL and FIL all got it as well, all vaccinated and got it badly but weren't as wiped out as my BF.

thesecondmrsdewinter20 · 02/01/2025 00:13

We had it too, totally ruined our Christmas. Horrendous fever, I can’t remember when I was last so ill. Hope you all feel much better soon x

PostpartumMama · 02/01/2025 00:19

Thank you for your well wishes. I'm hoping Indon't wake up in the morning in pain again. My poor DD was vomiting as well as DH.. hoping I can pass that part🤞 I am so sad how it's ruined the whole holidays. It's not as if we can get that week back😔 Feel awful for my little girl.. she is doing really well while we lie here.
Hope anyone else that has/had it recover quickly x

You’re not alone OP. It has systematically wiped out my whole family over Christmas and New Year and we’ve all been vaccinated. It seems to take forever to recover as well,
you just think the fever’s under control then your temperature shoots up again.

Hope you get well soon!

Wakemeuuuup · 02/01/2025 00:27

I currently have a virus of some sort. No energy, cough etc etc. I'm asthmatic so always have flu jab.

I just slipped down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole on X. Apparently the fog we had last week was government made andspreading some flu/new virus. That's why we're sick according to them.

It's got nothing to do with it being flu season and people mixing more over Christmas.

I hope everyone who is ill feels better soon

Cadburyscreamegg · 02/01/2025 00:29

Apparently they got the flu vaccine wrong this year and it isn't for the right strain I read.

happy2025 · 02/01/2025 00:52

I've wasted 2 weeks of precious holiday on stupid viral fever and hives! Still feeling wiped out even though it's all over. Will be back to energy levels just in time for work next week. So sad my holidays are wasted! Confused

Ladyzfactor · 02/01/2025 01:00

I got this flu. Had to cancel traveling to family over Christmas. Then I got a yeast infection. Then a sinus infection. Think I can rank this as the worst Christmas ever.

Poppyseeds79 · 02/01/2025 01:04

I'm on my third round of cold virus since the start of December. I just don't seem able to shake it off properly. My commute does mean a lot of hanging around in the cold, and my diet could be so much better! Things that I'm aware of but especially the commute is not changeable...

It's been such a miserable time of year. I can't wait for the summer 🌞

PostpartumMama · 02/01/2025 01:14

It's crazy the amount of people that have took unwell over the last number of weeks. Would make you wonder if something really was put into the air🤭 and probably wouldn't surprise me if it were true.. there's just so much of this Flu going around.

This would be my last christmas off on maternity leave as I do not plan to have anymore children, so we were really looking forward to the full holiday time together. Not in this way though 🙈 sick of looking at each other now 😂

I had it OP, I was so poorly my DP rang 111 and they told me to go into hospital urgently. Tested positive for Influenza A and was put in an isolation ward for 24 hours as they were concerned as I was so dehydrated.

After 8 days I was finally over it, just in time for Christmas Eve, although I do still have a tickly cough. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, hope you feel better soon.

HelenaWaiting · 02/01/2025 03:15

I came down with it on Christmas Day. Not sure if it's flu but awful, alternately boiling and shivering, aches and pains. I had three days with a awful pain in my head. I have managed to infect the whole family and it just won't seem to go. All of us have relapsed repeatedly.

BloodandGlitter · 02/01/2025 04:21

Today will be day 5 of it for me. Everyone else seems to have avoided it as I've properly isolated myself from them. Have this horrible pain in my legs especially my calves where they feel bruised to touch and super sensitive, apparently that's a symptom too.

kikiandgigi · 02/01/2025 07:34

I am on day 3 here and despite having had the vaccine feel dreadful. How is everyone dealing with the awful nausea?

Hekett · 02/01/2025 07:39

4/6 of us are down with it, right in time to go back to work. Second day for me. I feel like I’ve been hit by a train, woken up drenched in sweat, it even hurts to move my eyeballs! I’m not convinced it’s flu here though, just a really nasty virus. But way worse than Covid was and I only had that two months ago!

Toastandbutterand · 02/01/2025 07:54

We've got norovirus.
Best wishes op.

It's horrid.

Sorry that is really shit, but if she is school aged it is better to be ill in the holidays so you are not getting hassle for absence. DC had it over half term.

swingandtrampoline · 02/01/2025 08:30

We are wiped out throughout Xmas. I have bruises on my legs which I need to ring my gp. They hurt so mild accidental daily bumps but have never bruised so much in my life compared to this last 10 days. It's horrible looking after young ill children whilst being ill yourself.

swingandtrampoline · 02/01/2025 08:32

Has anyone been excessively sweating prior before showing symptoms?

BigDahliaFan · 02/01/2025 08:37

Dh didn't have flu jab and has been in bed since Christmas Eve, he's just starting to feel a little better but not really. I've got a hacking cough and a headache just starting, I've had the jab....
