Not really an AIBU but just posting for traffic

I am getting so cross & fed up now. We are on day 10 of the Flu in our house. Kids first, then DH & I.

Such a waste of the last week. Anyone else that has had this bad flu, fed up!!

Not even sure why I'm posting this.. guess I'm getting a bit sick of being stuck in the house with no1 knew to speak to lol x

Has anyone taken antibiotics? My DH started his course as it was 14 days since his first symptoms and he was the only one in the household that wasn't recovering where all his symptoms went but he had a nasty cough and felt fatigue and in the end the doctor asked about the mucus he was coughing and prescribed him some antibiotics over the phone. It's day 2 and he is already feeling better, he's no longer fatigue and his coughing seems better.

I thought it was flu but after 7 days of symptoms we tested positive for Covid. Been ill since Boxing Day, all now on antibiotics for secondary infections...I'm STILL testing positive. It's been awful. Nearly been admitted to hospital twice through it all. Relatively young and fit!

swingandtrampoline · 09/01/2025 17:21

@MyDeepZebra interesting, my DH also tested positive for Covid. I also tested but it came back negative twice but my symptoms were gone by the time I tested whereas DH still wasn't out the woods.

I ended up at hospital twice for iv steroids, oral steriods and antibio and nebs..
This is week 7 (ish) and I finally started to feel more human a few days ago..
needed so much rest to get over it..

I'm doing OK - I feel mostly fine although I still have a sore throat and it's day 17!

It's so painful I can hardly swallow my own spit, I've checked for white spots but there are none so I haven't bothered seeking antibiotics. I'm sure it'll go on its own. I still have a lot of mucus and a slight cough.

I've found gargling with Chlorahexadine initially and then Listerine Advanced Gum Defence (as it had success in a medical trial against Covid) helped my sore throat no end as they helped kill the bacteria. Difflam mouthwash is also a godsend as it actively numbs the pain.

I currently have a virus of some sort. No energy, cough etc etc. I'm asthmatic so always have flu jab.

I just slipped down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole on X. Apparently the fog we had last week was government made andspreading some flu/new virus. That's why we're sick according to them.

It's got nothing to do with it being flu season and people mixing more over Christmas.

I hope everyone who is ill feels better soon

Lollll at the fog nonsense

@lynzmb day 15 here and I have awful chesty cough still that just won't let up. The exhaustion is horrible.. I feel my worst in the evenings and first thing in the morning. I have started coughing blood. So assuming I will need to visit the GP on Monday for antibiotics if it doesn't clear up. Hope you are feeling a little bit better today x

Hope everyone starts feeling better soon 🌺🌷🌹
