To sleep with a 25 year old

I am 43. After a very unhappy marriage that ended two years ago I feel I have finally found myself.
I have lost a lot of weight over the 2 years, got my friends and social life back and a good job I'm in a good place.

A couple of months ago I was out with some friends for a girly night, meal cocktails and onto a local pub.
We were having a great night and I was enjoying having fun.
A young man approached me that evening and started chatting me up, I had a giggle with him amd I was flattered but I said look your way too young for me as sweet as you are you surely must have many young women after you and no I'm out with the girls.
We both laughed , said nice to meet you and me and my friends moved onto the next pub.
Since then I've bumped into him in the local village I have recently moved to at the local shop. You would have thought it would have been awkward, it wasn't we smiled said our hellos , were polite, and went our own way.

He then sent a friend request on fb , I declined it. He then messaged me on fb asking to go for dinner. I ignored him initially.
One evening after a glass of wine I replied and said again you seem lovely , however your too young for me , take care.

On the 21st Dec I was out in local pub celebrating my best friends birthday , he walked in with a couple of friends near the end of the evening , he came over and said hello, we were all quite drunk by then and I must admit I was flattered he was flirting with me.
He said have you recently moved to the village i said yes and we then both realised we are actually neighbours.... 6 doors apart.

End of the night came and we both went separate ways and said goodbyes
My friends said there was a massive chemistry between the two of us and although he is young he seemed a nice, respectful guy

Since that evening we gave msg back and forth a little. Things heated up last night and he wanted me to meet him out.
He's saying I'm not too young for you , please just give me a chance.
I declined as I was staying in.
I really do fancy the pants off him, I know it will be nothing but a physical thing if I ever decide to meet him
However I can't help but feel it is morally wrong?

Opinions please
Tell me to sort myself and move on if you like, I'm all ears 😂

Do want you want OP. You'll know if it's right when you're doing it. Just don't get drunk cos that does cheapen it a bit.
To all the people saying it's gross, you sound like 12 year olds.
He's 25 not 15!

You are just establishing yourself in the village. Just don't. Make friends with his mum.

Sorry for the off topic but I'm howling at this answer - don't shag the son, befriend the mum 😂🤣😂😂🤣

Blibbleflibble · 01/01/2025 22:22

I'm 42 and saw a pic of my husband and I from when we both 22 and thought he looked so baby faced so not sure I could, I also teach lots of twenty somethings at uni and they seem like children to me. However it's not reeeaaally morally wrong, you're not his boss or hold any authority over him like a lecturer.

If he floats your boat I say go for it as there's no ethical question to answer, but being 6 doors down would be a no for me unless I genuinely thought I was interested in a proper relationship. 6 doors down isn't enough distance for a no strings attached fling. 😅

ItsAMario · 01/01/2025 22:24

One of my friends slept with a 40 year old when he was 23 and the “insert name shags grannies” chants still come out when all the lads have had a drink.

Yeah, you couldn’t make it up! 😀

Although I do remember from my young days (think 18 years old) - sometime back in the Cretaceous - that a useful way to entice a young lady was to flirt with her mum.

It worked spectacularly well for me a few times then, but I’m unconvinced it would work this way round in this scenario. 🤣

I expect that does happen. But that will be his problem and not mine. I'm not bothered about being called a granny 😊

Ewww you're old enough to be his mum!

Do what you like OP, but if the neighbours find out they're going to think you're a right skanky mare.

Oh jolly well done!

Lunch or supper? Very different. As you well know. 😏

Joelle84 · 01/01/2025 22:29

Oh idk. Yes go for it YOLO and your both consenting adults.

could be a bet with mates to see if he can get an older woman into bed? Be wary.

it could get awks with him living so close. But also could be just what you need. Idk i see both sides. Go with your gut. Its a one off just a bit of fun. I would if hes fit and you feel its ok? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then those lads are immature dickheads who should be avoided.

AlpacaMittens · 01/01/2025 22:31

I'd only be concerned about him not performing (and then it becoming deflating and awkward), through my admittedly limited experience I've confirmed that predictably performance improves with age

Just go for dinner with him and see how it goes! He's a grown man and he obviously likes you, you like him, why not give it a go?

@ItsAMario

misogynistic nonsense

who gives a fuck what the neighbours think?!

Mossyflossy · 01/01/2025 22:37

I be more concerned about the 6 doors apart than the 18 years apart.

JohnofWessex · 01/01/2025 22:37

Just remember

Sleeping with him isnt the issue, its what you get up to when you are awake.........

Well skank again is a misogynistic word isn't it? Same as slut, whore, sket ... the list goes on. Names we only give to women mainly for enjoying a helathy sex life. My point is if anyone calls me misogynistic names I wouldn't want to get on with that type of person anyway as it would show low intelligence and narrow mindedness. I'd be happy to not talk to such neighbours.
He is single I am single were not hurting anybody here

But it still happens and is something OP needs to be aware of and weigh up because people are like this. OP said she lives in a village. What if his friends are like this and she walks into a pub and he’s there with his friends and they all jeer when she walks in? He lives 6 doors down from her, what if she bumps into his friends on the street and they laugh at her? 25 year old men can be incredibly immature.

I don’t hold these personal opinions but think OP would be incredibly naive to think this doesn’t happen.

Go have fun!!! But don't get hung up incase it's a one night thing.

I agree, you already acknowledge that it will just be physical fun so you have already set expectations to avoid heartbreak or future hurt. Go for it and have fun.

Hopefully the chemistry will result in a good sex for both of you.
