I have been weak and bought an airwrap!

menopausalfart · 01/01/2025 17:54

@Tiredmum2kids1dog They'll probably sell out soon.

I actually had to look it up when I first read the post!

Looks good, but I'm so low maintenance these days. If my hair gets dried with a hair dryer, it's a miracle.

10 minute bath without my toddler screaming mum is a win

I'm hoping it will do wonders for my hair!

TortillasAndSalsa · 01/01/2025 17:59

Tell her to add some shine back into her wedding and buy you a shiny new air wrap 😂

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/01/2025 18:05

Dyson should give OP a freebie for all the free promotion. Unless ...😎

BitterTits · 01/01/2025 18:06

I want one and I really don't bother much with my appearance.

I'm so tempted, you can get them for £400 some places!

Horses7 · 01/01/2025 18:08

Hope you get it back - either way you need to knock her off your Christmas card list.

wineandcheeseplease · 01/01/2025 18:09

Eagerly awaiting more!

ThePoshUns · 01/01/2025 18:14

Don't tell me that this has all been a Dyson promo?!

Garlicnorth · 01/01/2025 18:15

Love that they've found an 'arguing women' photo where one has styled hair and the other hasn't!

Sunshineofyourlove · 01/01/2025 18:19

I hate it when this happens! The Mail gets hold of it, the OP freaks out and gets the thread taken down and then we never get to know the resolution!

Wellwellwellys · 01/01/2025 18:20

She’ll 100% find it after her trip tomorrow.

I think she planned to sell it or indeed sold it to pay for the wedding. I think she expected you to tell her not to worry about it or maybe not ask for it back.

I hope you get yours/a replacement soon.

Called it.

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/01/2025 18:28

Has she posted photos of herself from last night? Did her hair look particularly amazing? I'm going to be kind and go with the PPs who suggested she was planning to miraculously 'find' it after she'd used it for NYE primping.

EmpressOfTheThread · 01/01/2025 18:29

Mumsnet are promoting a wet dry floor cleaner on this site, OP. Maybe attach the details for your friend!

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 01/01/2025 16:28

“The only thing that I’ll be leaving in 2024 is our friendship if I don’t get my Airwrap back”

That makes it too easy for the CF to choose the ending of the friendship and avoid having to communicate further about returning/replacing the Airwrap and then telling everyone that the end of the friendship was down to OP.

As others have said being insistent but calm at this point and giving no ultimatums gives the best chance of seeing the Airwrap - let her get on with panicking about it for the next day or so.

She really thought OP would be a pushover who would either not ask for the airwrap to be returned or give up asking very quickly. If it had been stolen or accidentally broken she wouldn't have gone to the trouble of this over-detailed elaborate tale. As my granny used to say "what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive". She's created such a tangle she has tainted her own wedding, ballsed up a friendship and worst of all ended up in the DM.

Morning all

I received an incoherent text message from my friend at about 3.15am (clearly drunk) rambling on about how she valued our friendship so much but couldn’t help but feel this whole situation had taken the shine off her wedding! The absolute cheek of it! She went on to say she will sort this out and hopes it can be ‘left in 2024’

I have a feeling she’s read here and is trying to make me feel guilty. Why else would she say it’s taken the shine off the wedding other than to try and make me feel bad?! Or have I become cynical?

She is an arsehole and is trying to make you feel guilty.

Taken the shine of her wedding my arse! She is an absolutely cheeky cow!

You should reply saying it will be left in 2024 once she puts her hand in her pocket and forks out for a brand new device for you.

I think the OP doesn’t care as she knew the CF’r is a keen mumsnetter. And why should she care. Her ‘friend’ is anything but and deserves to be outed as a horrendous human being

fairycakes1234 · 01/01/2025 18:53

While we're all waiting on the update, I have a shark hairwrap, i love my hair when i use it, very big and bouncy, 2 hours later its like i never used it, hair flat as anything, any tips on how to keep the curl in, i use hairspray.

FestiveFruitloop · 01/01/2025 18:58

Unless the post is made up by a journo

I'm not getting that vibe personally...

CrowleyKitten · 01/01/2025 19:13

chickenlettuceunderbacon · 01/01/2025 16:17

I don't understand why some are suggesting a shopping trip to replace the item where the OP takes the friend out for lunch as a thank you. OP owes the friend nothing, she's not the one who has stolen something, abused and disrespected the friendship.

it's not as a thank you. it's to make sure she doesn't get fobbed off with anything other than a new replacement, and then after that, well, the friendship is probably gone now, and neither really wants to carry on. it's not so much a thank you as a way to increase the likelihood of actually getting a good outcome before cutting off future contact.

if feelings are strong enough, maybe even just get the replacement first, and say, right. thanks for sorting that. I don't want lunch, I'm going home.

AutoP1lot · 01/01/2025 19:14

Yes, I was just reading snippets out to DH and he said "maybe Dyson will give her one".

CrowleyKitten · 01/01/2025 19:16

BIossomtoes · 01/01/2025 16:20

Because it’s a way of getting the damn thing replaced in a reasonably civilised fashion. I’d invest £20 to get my £500 Dyson product replaced and know I was getting the real thing, not a dupe or second hand one. It’s called pragmatism.

Edited

exactly. I have no doubt at all that if she orders it herself, it's going to be a refurb or knockoff. if she won't transfer the money, this is the best way to make sure you're actually getting the genuine article in replacement.
it absolutely would stick in my throat to play nicey nicey, but sometimes that's what it takes to get what you want.
once you've got a genuine, new replacement, no contact.
