She’s in luck, they’re only £399 in Boots and Argos atm 😃

Op send her the link so she's not as much out of pocket and will have saved herself £100 and prob £50 in fuel going ro the hotel.personally. amd then block.

linsey2581 · 01/01/2025 11:14

Very invested in this.

Purpleoutrage · 01/01/2025 11:16

Outrageous friend… let’s hope she realises she’s been an idiot and sorts it out pdq.

yohohoCrimbo · 01/01/2025 11:16

Owly11 · 01/01/2025 11:03

Did you go to the wedding? If not I wonder if it even was a small affair or whether she actually had a full wedding and didn't invite you.

Not really the point, I feel.

thescandalwascontained · 01/01/2025 11:16

If any 'shine' has been lost, it's down to her behaviour and choices entirely. She's proved herself to be a shit friend who likes to pass blame for her own actions. Only a grovelling apology along with your dyson or a brand new one to replace it will fix this, not her continued self-absorbed, arse-covering snivelling.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 01/01/2025 11:17

The text was uncalled for, she is clearly in the wrong here.

Call the hotel yourself and tell her the outcome of the call. Then either she organises for the safe return or sends you the money to replace it. Currently £399 in boots of she’s fast.

BIossomtoes · 31/12/2024 23:53

Me too.

And me 😄

EmpressOfTheThread · 01/01/2025 11:07

She said just 2 witnesses.

I wonder if that was just code for 'you aren't important enough to me to invite - but your posh Dyson is welcome'.

It's an even weaker excuse than if they had had/admitted to having a wedding with 100 guests to organise and coordinate: just the two of them and a couple of pals/acquaintances, but they were still too rushed off their feet to take 30 seconds for a quick eye-sweep around the hotel room before departing?

Turophilic · 01/01/2025 11:19

myslippersarepink · 01/01/2025 11:13

Tell her it's taken the shine off your friendship and if she wants that back she needs to buy you another one.

God, no, that’s her goal!

Then she can dump the OP and not return the Air Wrap, while claiming she was hard done by.

”Happy New Year! I agree with you - drop the hair dryer off today (or <this> replacement from Boots if you don’t have it) and we’ll draw a line under the whole thing as a 2024 issue. See you later on!”

JapanOneDay · 01/01/2025 11:20

Langarg · 01/01/2025 08:44

Morning all

I received an incoherent text message from my friend at about 3.15am (clearly drunk) rambling on about how she valued our friendship so much but couldn’t help but feel this whole situation had taken the shine off her wedding! The absolute cheek of it! She went on to say she will sort this out and hopes it can be ‘left in 2024’

I have a feeling she’s read here and is trying to make me feel guilty. Why else would she say it’s taken the shine off the wedding other than to try and make me feel bad?! Or have I become cynical?

How dare you not let her steal your airwrap. Some friend!

Marcipex · 01/01/2025 11:21

I also think that Lo! It is found; in a corner of the boot/groom accidentally packed it/hotel staff had put it somewhere for safekeeping.

FizzyBisto · 01/01/2025 11:21

yohohoCrimbo · 01/01/2025 11:16

Not really the point, I feel.

It's not the main point, but if it was a big affair and OP still wasn't a close enough friend to make the cut - but she was good enough to sacrifice her expensive hair equipment for the bride to look her best - I think that is relevant.

DecayingRelic · 01/01/2025 11:29

I would get the item back and then block the twat

serendipitea · 01/01/2025 11:29

I suggest the OP offer to contribute £100 towards a new one, as after all she will get a new one which will last a lot longer than the old one would have. And the friend might be more graceful in substituting the 'lost' one with a new one.

Worriedmummy2400 · 01/01/2025 11:30

Cheeky bitch. Give it back or pay up for a new one the same model!

stayathomegardener · 01/01/2025 11:31

I would perhaps offer petrol money towards her going to 'check the hotel in person'

lightsandtunnels · 01/01/2025 11:31

Her taking your hair wrap is her taking the shine off her own wedding. Unbelievable cf business.
Stay strong OP!

BusyMum47 · 01/01/2025 11:33

@Langarg This is the wedding that she didn't even invite you to, yeah?

She is way beyond a CF. Your friendship is over. Do not get off her case until she gives you a new, like for like hairdryer (or your own one!) & then run for the hills & don't look back!

BrummiMummi · 01/01/2025 11:38

Placemarking also!

RLmadmum · 01/01/2025 11:40

She's definitely trying it on, cheeky mare!

jackstini · 01/01/2025 11:41

That's drunken guilt in that text!

Looking forward to tomorrow's update...

ChaToilLeam · 01/01/2025 11:42

What a cheeky bitch!! Don’t back down, insisting on a new one if the old one doesn’t magically turn up.

She’s no friend, the greedy shameless user!

pollymere · 01/01/2025 11:42

It's obviously suspicious that she didn't contact the hotel when she realised it was missing. I've found that hotels are exceptional with lost property in the main. If an airwrap had been left in a room most would contact the guest! I had a boss who left shoes and a shirt in the wardrobe and the hotel rang me to organise collection.

Unless it was the sort of hotel that has really really dishonest housekeeping (it's not exactly finding a fiver on the floor though, is it?)

KimFan · 01/01/2025 11:43

I’d be getting my new Airwrap and then the only thing I’d be leaving in 2024 would be her!

Ohnobackagain · 01/01/2025 11:44

@Langarg OMG talk about selfish. How about how her CF ways have taken the tarnish off your friendship? Unbelievable. Waiting for the next update/hoping your Airwrap (or a brand new one) turns up.
