Lighthearted post

It seems alot of us are struggling with it being nye for a multitude of reasons.

I've had a very tough 2024 and I went into it in a very positive way. I try to be optimistic in all situations however this year has flawed me.
I've had some awful things happen to me this year , Ive read that alot of others have on here too.
I'm trying my hardest not to go into a depressive nye slump.
I'm on my own, my children are with thier father .
I was offered to go to friends parties this evening however I'm not in that frame of mind at all.
It's just me and the dog. I'm normally a content person but for some reason I'm triggered this evening amd can't shift it. I think maybe it's because I know one of the major life changing events that have happened to me in 2024 is going to be an ongoing thing that carries on to 2025 so it's hard to see it as a fresh start.

Anyway...... I said it would light hearted so please can I have recommendations of funny things to watch tonight on tv? Films , series anything?
I started the film new years eve with michelle phfiffer ( not sure if I've spelt that correctly)
I felt depressed very quickly watching it so turned it off .

I'm determined to go into 2025 with some positivity and some laughs

So come on fellow mumsnetters suggest something that's gonna put a big smile on my face tonight please 🙏 😀

My favourite show, two doors down! So funny. On the iplayer. You're welcome 😄🙂

Trepidfox · 31/12/2024 20:41

Alma's Not Normal on iplayer is very funny, it does deal with mental health issues so if it's a distraction you want might not be the best! Also Colin from Accounts on Iplayer is a laugh. I don't work for the BBC 😂

Wishing you the best with your situation and hope that it ends early on in the year. Remember, a fresh start can happen at any time 🥰

It's just me and dd, we'll be watching the jools annual hootenanny, which i just today discovered was filmed in September?!? So that's ticked me off 🤭

So funny, set in/near Glasgow. I'm a Londoner but binged it and now think in a Scottish accent

JaceLancs · 31/12/2024 20:44

We are watching animal funny incidents and tv blooper programmes on YouTube

Motherland? I believe it's on Netflix and bbc iPlayer, I love it

Trepidfox · 31/12/2024 20:47

I don't know if it's still on Iplayer (I seriously don't work for the BBC!) But nighty night with Julia Davis is a awesome, actually anything she is in is pretty great - dark humour if that's your rodeo

I love Alma’s Not Normal. I’ve watched series one about 10 times and series two about 6 times. I love Lin!! She’s my favourite character. I loved her Never give a hamster matches poem.

I'm with the NYE is rubbish. I've spent the evening laminating lost cat posters. The cat going missing has just topped off a shit year.

I watched Grease earlier and it was a distraction. Dirty Dancing is also good to just forget about things. Same with Top Gun.

I’m in bed with the dog. I’ve got the fan on and the tv trying to drown out the fireworks. The dogs terrified!

My dog is very strange he loves fireworks gets very excited and has loved them since a puppy , he thinks they are all for him I swear!
he even goes to the window and watches wagging his tail. I think it's because my kids use to be so happy when they went off when he was a pup he associates them with happy times. He's definitely one in a million I reckon 😂
