Lighthearted post

It seems alot of us are struggling with it being nye for a multitude of reasons.

I've had a very tough 2024 and I went into it in a very positive way. I try to be optimistic in all situations however this year has flawed me.
I've had some awful things happen to me this year , Ive read that alot of others have on here too.
I'm trying my hardest not to go into a depressive nye slump.
I'm on my own, my children are with thier father .
I was offered to go to friends parties this evening however I'm not in that frame of mind at all.
It's just me and the dog. I'm normally a content person but for some reason I'm triggered this evening amd can't shift it. I think maybe it's because I know one of the major life changing events that have happened to me in 2024 is going to be an ongoing thing that carries on to 2025 so it's hard to see it as a fresh start.

Anyway...... I said it would light hearted so please can I have recommendations of funny things to watch tonight on tv? Films , series anything?
I started the film new years eve with michelle phfiffer ( not sure if I've spelt that correctly)
I felt depressed very quickly watching it so turned it off .

I'm determined to go into 2025 with some positivity and some laughs

So come on fellow mumsnetters suggest something that's gonna put a big smile on my face tonight please 🙏 😀

Palm Springs (film) on Amazon Prime with Andy Samberg. Funny and sweet with a time loop Groundhog Day vibe.

Schitts creek is fabulous though it does take a few episodes to get into it. Plus it's about a family recovering from their entire lives being turned upside down and going... well up shits creek really.

Wonderwhyibother · 31/12/2024 21:34

Times like this for me calls for some aussie cheese.

One of my top go to's is Strictly Ballroom. Over the top naffness but absolutely brilliant. Another is priscilla queen of the desert. Both currently on prime as far as I can see.

I watched 2 or 3 episodes and found it a bit meh. Should I keep going?

I’m sorry 2024 has been tough. When I was in a very low place and living in hospital with my newborn in NICU, watching Stath Lets Flats and Ghosts were the things that got me through! x

TaggieO · 31/12/2024 21:38

Ooh watch Rivals on Disney+

Is it weird to say i wanna hear about your drunk friend? 🤭🤭

over 2 hours till the fireworks and me and dd have lost interest and are on our devices for the time being

Well drunk friend msg me this morning telling me she's also having a quiet night in... until I got the drunken voice note saying she's out at the pub! I have no idea what's happened between then and now tbh 😂

DH is watching Brassic right now but I sort of got the vibes it's ripping off Shameless a bit (not as good?) should I give it another chance?

I got bored by the 2nd series if I'm honest

Yes, keep going. I felt the same about the first couple of episodes but grew to love it after that. Now I'm envious of anyone who hasn't seen it as it's all still ahead of them.
