First time doing it this year. Added sweetcorn to mine as I like it! Rate my roast (Christmas dinner)

You can't tell from a picture.

FanofLeaves · 26/12/2024 15:35

It’s a bit blurry, but from the pic alone 4/10

Delatron · 26/12/2024 15:35

No sweetcorn!!

ShortyShorts · 26/12/2024 15:36

Can't see roast potatoes?

TheKeatingFive · 26/12/2024 15:36

I can't get past the sweetcorn, sorry 😂

Yeah it probably was tasty but I agree it doesn't look very appealing. I'm not a fan on food piled on top of other food.

HermoinePotter · 26/12/2024 15:37

Where’s the roast potatoes and the mash? I couldn’t eat it, sorry, it’s all slopped together.

Pamosonic · 26/12/2024 15:37

Needs more roast potatoes I think. And more gravy.

Sweetest977 · 26/12/2024 15:39

Ok picture has come out a bit blurry! Did homemade roast potatoes with rosemary seasoning!

Difficult to tell as it's in a pile rather than flat on the plate as sep elements. I can't think how I'd begin to eat food from a pile

PinotDragon · 26/12/2024 15:40

I'm a chef and there is no way of making a roast look pretty unless you serve everything in side dishes! The meat looks tender as it is flaking apart, the greens are still green, the yorkie looks good (if that's homemade good job! If not who cares) and the spuds look nicely roasted. Good job you! 9/10

Doggielove · 26/12/2024 15:41

It’s wonderful and love how it’s squeezed on the plate..I can make it all out..well done you for a first timer!

Sweetest977 · 26/12/2024 15:41

Maybe this one is better. Agree presentation could have been better !

For clarification I can see a spud by a yorkie

Of course there is.

There's a thread with lots of photos of Christmas dinners and plenty of them look pretty.

Changehaircolour · 26/12/2024 15:42

There’s some right miserable old women on here 🤣 It looks delicious 😋

How did it taste? It looks good for a first effort, be proud of yourself!

WhatFlavourIsIt · 26/12/2024 15:47

Well done to you. Did you enjoy it?.
Looks like a classic roast 8/10

KnopkaPixie · 26/12/2024 16:17

Good work, first timer. I agree with Pinot Noir.

Oh there is of course! Lots of colours, nicely spaced out, attractive plate with gravy on the side, it can look very pretty! I did mine in a giant Yorkshire this year, with swede purée, sprouts and red cabbage for colour.

MajorCarolDanvers · 26/12/2024 16:36

Not to my taste.

MrsDefrost · 26/12/2024 16:38

It looks tasty. All you need is a bigger plate! 😂

Yep, maybe a bigger plate but it looks good to me. Frankly, I don't plate anything apart from small children's meals anymore. Let them all help themselves.

Presentation is not always appreciated.
The worst is when I used to make Herring under a fur coat or Shuba for my Russian ex boyfriend with all the delicate layers and I wanted him to eat it by keeping the different elements intact, using the side of a fork. But nyet. He just squished it all up.
