First time doing it this year. Added sweetcorn to mine as I like it! Rate my roast (Christmas dinner)

Is it a miniature portion on a tiny plate? Why is it all so small?

Like, 12 kernals of sweet corn, one slice of carrot, one small broccoli floret - what's going on here?

Sweetest977 · 26/12/2024 18:45

😂 there’s definitely some carrots hiding under the sweetcorn

@Inextremis Are you eating that off a saucer/side plate?

Yes! that looks even smaller than the OP's!

Since when was 2 sprouts a normal serving? We had 10 each - and that's just the sprouts!

WalterdelaMare · 26/12/2024 18:51

What is sweetcorn doing there? If I’m rating it, it looks like slop. Hopefully it tasted better than it looks.

Did you miss the writing in the OP?

It doesn't look beautiful, but I'm sure it tasted lovely. Sweetcorn is very unusual on a roast, I do like it but feel it's out of place, especially on an Xmas dinner.
Did you have pig in blankets? What stuffing did you use? How did you cook the turkey/ make the gravy?
This year I had an easy-ish turkey crown with stuffing inside, but it had no skin which was a disappointment!

Sweetest977 · 26/12/2024 19:18

Someone who came actually took a photo of the dinner and I hadn’t realised. They plated theirs a bit more presentable than mine? And shows my roast potatoes better 😂

Minus the sweetcorn. I was the only one to have that 😂

Sweetcorn!

Moveoverdarlin · 26/12/2024 19:19

Never heard of sweetcorn with a roast dinner. Need a bigger plate doesn’t look very appealing.

Only 10 sprouts 😉
I think half of my plate was piled high with sprouts

SporadicMincePieMuncher · 26/12/2024 21:12

I'd eat that, sweetcorn and all! 10/10

onwardandupwards · 26/12/2024 21:33

I'd happily eat it! Looks lovely x

DrFoxtrot · 26/12/2024 22:06

Have you taken the photo in portrait mode or something? 😆
I agree with PP who find the piling of the food off-putting but I'm sure it was tasty!

SwordToFlamethrower · 26/12/2024 22:18

No to the sweetcorn. Rest looks lush! Well done!

Sweetcorn in a ROAST? 😬😬😬😬

HermoinePotter · 26/12/2024 15:37

Where’s the roast potatoes and the mash? I couldn’t eat it, sorry, it’s all slopped together.

Er, roast potatoes AND mash?

Are they new potatoes?

They don't look roasted enough.

What’s the stuff bottom left that looks beige?

cantdecidewhichisworst · 26/12/2024 18:43

Here's ours! Roast turkey, roast potatoes, mash, pigs in blankets, peas, carrots, broccoli and I had bread sauce and cranberry sauce on mine. There's additional maple roast carrots and chipolatas on the table too (two teenage boys ate this plus extras!)

Runner beans? Naaaaah.

Roasties looking good though

HermoinePotter · 26/12/2024 22:24

Catapaulting · 26/12/2024 22:20

Come on people - share yours, don't let the OP take all the heat! Here's mine - chicken, ham, roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots, broccoli, stuffing, bread sauce, gravy, cranberry sauce. It was bloody lovely and hope yours was too!

Why do you have a tiny plate?

It is hardly out there, though. There are no rules about which vegetables can be used for a roast.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 26/12/2024 22:28

Sweetcorn . Just no.

Apart from that looks not too bad.

Louisetheroux · 26/12/2024 22:32

Roasts are like Xmas trees...people think theirs look amazing but 99% of the time they look lacklustre in photos
