Are there any conspiracy theories you believe in?

Inspired by another thread

I find conspiracy theories really interesting. I have never ‘believed’ any of them, more enjoy discussing them and how likely it seems that they could be true. I also think it’s more far fetched to believe that everything we have ever been told or ever will be told is the whole truth.

Are there any CTs you believe in? Lead me down a rabbit hole please!

What? Of course the pilots can turn off the radar transponder. They can turn off anything. It's very rare to turn off the transponder when in normal flight, but they can do it. In fact sometimes air traffic control will ask them to, depending on traffic.

However, if you enter UK airspace with your transponder turned off, ATC will ask you to turn it on, sharpish, and if not you can expect a couple of Typhoons for company in short order. The 9/11 hijackers also turned off the transponders.

No. Because I have a degree of intelligence.

Conspiracy theories are created by people who get rich by sucking in the gullible. Some could be deemed to be harmless but many are dangerous (e.g those that died from covid because they believed the crackpot antivaxx theories or those that are designed to instil fear such as the 5g bollox). All are designed to be 'interesting' so you keep clicking. Every time you click on a conspiracy theory website you are lining the pockets of these vile people.

This sounds a little arrogant. You can't possibly know everything about everything and, as OP said, you can't possibly be sure everything you've ever been told by governments is true. Which it quite clearly is not. This is what allows conspiracy theories to flourish....

@Mountainhowl you were incorrectly corrected, there were also successful manned USSR Luna missions and very recently China's robotic landers in the Chang'e missions

There were no manned missions in the Luna programme. The furthest they got was robotic landers. 🙏

That is correct in a way. I have very little trust if I cant see it myself. I believe there is a spiritual side to everything, and the fact that Hollywood and media mock Christianity makes me even more distrustful of mainstream media sources

Is the moon even a planet, or is it just a star that is closer to is than we realise? Do these millions of planets even exist? Space extends almost infinitively? Maybe/maybe not. Science education is also viewed by some as indoctrination and brainwashing.

This is a conspiracy theory thread so we are allowed to freely express our mistrust.

The Moon is neither a star nor a planet, it's a moon (I know that sounds snarky, but there are lots of moons in our solar system alone, its just that ours has the least original name).

It's much closer (hundreds of times) to Earth than any planets or the Sun are, which is why visiting it is comparatively easy.

That Covid originated in the lab in Wuhan. I think it was likely an accident but that is where it came from.

Too many coincidences not to be. A viral outbreak starts in the same city that has a dedicated virology lab where bat corona viruses were being studied ? And the lab refused to hand over data to the WHO ?

I don’t even think that’s a conspiracy theory tbh. It’s highly likely to have happened.

Mostly I think conspiracy theories are just nuts and made/believed by people who are socially isolated and spend too much time online.

Agree with this.
Interesting SO many replies show a general consensus that Diana death not accidental.

I think the most compelling ‘conspiracy’ theories are the ones which don’t seem like conspiracies at all or which hover in a grey zone.. like Covid coming from a lab/intentionally created and Diana’s death.

MaidOfSteel · 22/12/2024 23:36

Moonfasa100 · 22/12/2024 19:59

Why sensible people think that Diana was killed off is:

Before she died, Diana wrote a note saying "they are planning a car crash in my car"

Diana's mental health was fragile and she'd been lied to & manipulated by Martin Bashir. He wanted an interview slagging off the then Prince of Wales, and the rest of the Royal family, and went about getting it on a particularly cruel way. He knew she was paranoid and set about fuelling that.
Her death was a sad accident.

dayswithaY · 22/12/2024 23:36

I think Diana’s death was accidental, but I do think her bodyguard Barry Mannakee was murdered.

They were allegedly having an affair and his death in a road traffic accident seems mighty suspicious.

Who leaked Charles “Tampon gate” phone call to Camilla? Was it before or after Squidygate?

If they thought it was a 911 situation they would do for sure.

ThisCosyAquaHiker · 22/12/2024 23:40

Jumpingthruhoops · 22/12/2024 23:26

Pretty sure that's long since been confirmed...

No, it has not.

Some people on this thread keep saying that it was proven by the FBI, it was not. They prepared a report saying that, based on the circumstantial evidence, they are moderately confident it came from a lab. Even in the US Government, most other agencies do not agree with them.

I'm very open to lab leak theory, but it is far from confirmed.

If a plane is believed to be hijacked by terrorists on a suicide mission, it will 100% be shot down before it can hit central London or a nuclear power plant.

In his memoirs, Tony Blair tells of precisely such an incident. The Chief of the Air Staff calls to say "We have a plane that is out of radar and radio contact, and you have to decide whether to shoot it down". Blair asks how long he has and the RAF chap says "Oh, at least another 15 minutes, Prime Minister". Anyway, in the end the fighter planes manage to get visual contact and the crew are giving the thumbs up, so all is well, but Blair mentions that he had quite a stiff drink after that.

(I'm afraid I see no logical connection whatsoever between this and illegal immigration.)

It’s a big club and you and I ain’t in it…

HughGrantsfurrysquirrel · 22/12/2024 23:47

I absolutely agree with those who believe the McCann's know exactly what happened to Madelaine. One day it's all going to come out........

Won't launch into a lengthy diatribe here, but Richard D Hall's YT videos make for compelling viewing!

Princess Diana was murdered. Her Maj certainly wasn't whiter than white in the matter either!

We were definitely sold a lie regarding Covid.

Amused to read on here that (apparently) no intelligent, thinking person would believe in conspiracy theories. You could flip that - and say an intelligent person would consider every possibility.

StrawberryDream24 · 22/12/2024 23:48

I'm wondering how all the "Diana crash not an accident" CT ists think those who organised it could guarantee she (nor anyone else) would bother wearing seatbelts.

Maybe they knew it was common for them not to, but it wasn't guaranteed. And they'd probably have survived with them on. Not a very effective way of assassinating someone.

ElleneAsanto · 22/12/2024 23:48

Things go wrong, that even experts can’t explain easily. Shit happens, it’s cock-up theory, not conspiracy theory. Or just a one-in-a-million set of circumstances, that it’s impossible to plan for.

Agreeing with previous posters - given the number of people that would have to have been involved in e.g. a fake moon landing - do you really think no one wouldn’t have taken the chance to earn millions by writing a book about it by now?

(Unless they’ve all been assassinated by the CIA…)

TypingoftheDead · 22/12/2024 23:48

BoundaryGirl3939 · 22/12/2024 22:33

I never said I don't believe in satellites. But a satellite is not in space. If I can see it with my own naked eye, it's not too that far away from me in reality. An impressive feat but I still don't believe that spaceships can land on another planet, walk around, and travel back home. No, not buying it.

What about stars, then?

chaosmaker · 22/12/2024 23:50

Actually i think all religions are conspiracy theories designed to control

Princess Diana was murdered

By people with the best "luck" ever.

Nah, if you persist in doing high speed, press evading (and baiting) chases with no seat belts .....

Having a tipsy driver doesn't help either (I know they didn't know that but ..).

I think a lot of what we are told is comllete bullshit.

Society is also designed to make us work like slaves for fifty years,

So we are too tired to question the system

I was watching a video of a psychic medium. The medium was channeling madeline.

Oh well then.

Ever seen the rockets at Kennedy Space Centre? You wouldn't believe the moon landings happened after seeing the displays. Far too flimsy to make it to the moon let alone carry people to the moon and back.

How are they flimsy? Are you referring to the moon landers, which admittedly do look a bit cobbled together (saw one at the Science Museum) - but aren't
(BTW most of the rocket detaches a few minutes after launch.)
