This bloody dog will be the death of me

I love him to bits but fuck me hes outdone himself this afternoon

Went out to pub and had a lovely time. Came home to him bashing into thing and staggering about with a nice pile of sick in the middle of the only rug we have (why do they always do that) quickly rush him to the vet who asks what he ate. He ate bread dough and vommed it all back up. The yeast was fermenting in his stomach and he was effectively drunk.

They could feel something in his tummy so he was sedated and x rayed. He had coins in his intestine and a Lego action man. So he's had emergency surgery today and has cost me &
£1600. He'd eaten 27p in coins fuck knows how or when!

How old is the dog you ask? 17 years old no shits given.

He also chewed off the vets shoe lace when he was brought back to me as the vet was telling me what he had removed from his stomach. He didn't swallow that thank God.

He's a corgi x Labrador so Labrador size with corgi legs 🤣

I love how whenever corgis get crossed with anything they always seem to turn out still looking like corgis but with the other breeds colouring / markings !

Even with breeds like great danes and dalmations.....

catzrulz · 21/12/2024 10:51

Our ginger idiot labrador at a 2kg bag of sugar, when we got home her stomach was solid.
Off to the V E T who gave her the jags to make her sick, that was a fun 20 mins parading round the carpark waiting for her to be sick.
It was freezing and absolutely pouring with rain.
Not her finest moment.

BMW6 · 21/12/2024 10:56

Am crying with lol at Jose scoffing the dead cat

FOJN · 21/12/2024 11:00

I'm laughing my head off but also glad he's come through the surgery OK.

I'm also amazed the surgery was "only" £1600.

merlotmerlin · 21/12/2024 09:19

Wish I had £1600 totally spare!

That's an uncalled for comment.

OP might have insurance she needs to claim on or has had to dip into savings/borrow it.

You don't know their situation and tbh their finances isn't any of your business.

On a walk in town (very busy), I saw a long white worm sticking out of my dog’s backside. I when to a slightly less busy side street and tried to work out what to do as the dog was getting agitated. I pulled it. A whole bright white tampon popped out. Not of a variety we have in our home. I would like to think it was ingested clean but I expect the blood could have been digested. I have no idea how he ate it.

WinterMorn · 21/12/2024 11:07

Your writing style is brilliant OP - I loved reading your initial post.

Spidey66 · 21/12/2024 11:10

I'm laughing too! He looks and sounds like a real character,

I couldn't agree more. I've been waiting for DH to come downstairs so I could read OP's post to him - he thought it was hilarious too! 😂😂😂(As are many of the replies.)

WinterMorn · 21/12/2024 11:12

@AngelicKaty I just did that too and he enjoyed it just as much

Here he is

Ooh, that innocent face! 😆 Give him a big Christmassy hug from me!

Love that he’s just cracking on, in a sort of “age is just a number, I’m growing old disgracefully” sort of way!

Bless him, Merry Christmas Pupper🐾🐾

captainPugwashh · 21/12/2024 01:45

@SabrinaThwaite yes. He's a bin on legs. If it's not nailed down he will give it a go. The cat helped him this time though. I feel very lucky that he has got through this though

Love the idea of them both in it together, like the burglars in “Home Alone”😆

To be fair, in dog heaven he would have got a 10 out of10 for those shenanigans! 😂 he is likely king of dog heaven with that on his record 🤭🤭

He definitely had some good stories to tell when he got up there!

He also went missing in North Greece, high up in the mountains. He eventually showed up a month later, extremely skinny and covered in (someone else's) blood. There are bears and wild pigs in those mountains so God knows what he got up to.

The little buggers do it on purpose. Ours are addicted to rabbit poo, they see it as a great delicacy.

Going for a walk on the farm is my dog’s idea of heaven: a poo buffet. Rabbit and sheep poo preferred, all poo acceptable.

Bleachbum · 21/12/2024 11:31

PreBlendOils · 21/12/2024 09:56

This handsome chap was Jose. Jose once jumped the fence into the neighbours, dug up and ate their dead cat, threw her up, and then ate her again. It all happened in within a minute and in full view of the neighbours sobbing dc. I've never wanted to harm a dog but I could have murdered him with my bare hands.

Rest in peace Jose, if there is a dog heaven you're probably not in it.

OMG. You win! 😳

Falafelolive · 21/12/2024 11:37

I had to chuckle at Simon having a munch on the vets shoe laces, he's unstoppable. What a dude
.

PinkiOcelot · 21/12/2024 11:49

Sorry but 🤣.

Looks so innocent.

I love him 😍

DoggoQuestions · 21/12/2024 11:57

We had to un-decorate the Christmas tree last weekend because DDog kept stealing the baubles off it and chewing them.

Luckily, I'd intentionally not put expensive or glass ones on because I was expecting his tail to knock some off.

This is the plainest Christmas we've ever had.

Melodyfair · 21/12/2024 11:57

my old dog and cat used to team up to get things out the bin, I’d hear the lid go and run in to them scarpering out the kitchen 😂

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/12/2024 12:09

Aww bless him, he looks adorable. And clearly still a cheeky beggar despite his years.

2025willbemytime · 21/12/2024 12:58

I don't see Labrador in him.

I don't know whether to be relieved or feel left out as all my dog has eaten is soft tiny bits of her toys she likes to tear up. Everything crossed trips to the vet for removal stay at zero.

Tracystubbs · 21/12/2024 13:13

I don't own a dog but dd does
I was once walking him, when I stopped to chat to a friend
Little sod found and ate a full pizza he'd found behind a bin-the pizza was bigger than he is
(I thought he was next to me-to be fair,he was but a bit further than i thought)
This was about 8 years ago but he loves walking down that street and always has a look at the same spot, just in case another one appears

Same dog once chomped his way through the gusset of my clean pants
I didn't notice, chucked them on and buggered off to work
Had been there about 20 minutes when I felt a gush of fresh air-theyd finally snapped

Little git somehow found and ate a chocolate cream cake and ate the lot-no ill effects at all

A friends dog once ate a sainsburys carrier bag-he noticed when he saw something orange sticking out of her bum

My sons dog ate a bowl of pasta-my lunch that day
I turned my back for a second

Same dog ate a pringles lid,a stuffed Teddy bear and the velcro from his dad's shoe

Another mates dog ate the chocolates from his human sisters posh advent calendar (god know how he got to it-it was on top of the fridge) and the Christmas turkey that was resting on the side-bones and all
He pooed bones for days

We've been laughing about this evening. You couldn't make it up. I thought they got better as they aged!!

Getting drunk and eating crap, sounds like a lot of old human men to be honest. He clearly is not bovvered.
