Yes, tacky, sorry

Buying it would jinx it and cement my fate as a lifelong spinster

It won't. I bought my dress a decade before I met DH.

Sproglette · 18/12/2024 18:28

I think it is lovely! I wpuld definitely wear it but without any showy/ornate jewellery

Yes, frightfully tacky, sorry.

I used to get one for 3.50. Nowadays, I employ Jenny Packham to design my lines to the exact point.

BellissimoGecko · 18/12/2024 18:54

It's gorgeous!

tsmainsqueeze · 18/12/2024 18:56

I love it .

lover99 · 18/12/2024 19:26

update: my Mum likes it so it can't possibly be tacky

I kind of feel that the vast majority of wedding dresses are tacky. They're often huge, white/cream, over the top, impractical. I know mine was. But that's the fun of it. People have different tastes if it's your dream dress go for it. I'm sure the groom will turn up later.

this is so true, i dislike most peoples dresses

The colour of the bottom doesn't go with the top so it looks "off" to me but I actually quite like the style.

Ponoka7 · 18/12/2024 19:47

I like dressing up. Your wedding day is one of the only times you can be properly OTT, so if it suits you, go for it. I like that dress. Mine would (and was) even more ornate.

OnlyHerefortheBiscuits · 18/12/2024 19:49

Bodice beautiful but could do with a different texture for the skirt.

Mrswhatsit40 · 18/12/2024 19:49

It's very Maid Marion. I don't hate it, it could look lovely for a spring/summer wedding in a forest with a wreath of flowers adorning your long flowing tresses. I'm thinking Galadriel from LOTR.

Dress the little bridesmaids and pageboys as hobbits and dwarves?

RuthW · 18/12/2024 19:51

I like it

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 18/12/2024 19:54

Looks very tacky

MaggieBsBoat · 18/12/2024 20:10

It’s bloody gorgeous! If I hadn’t already secured my prime victim I’d be up for buying it.

Give my love to Estella and Pip, @lover99 .

Ha ha, my mother nicknamed me Miss Havisham for a bit, after i had been a runaway bride but kept the dress in the spare room and tried it on sometimes. In fact, when friends came over and got tipsy they'd try on my wedding dress too! It is a really lovely dress. Still have it. It was left in an empty house over winter once and it now has some mouse wee stains. Very Ms H.

puzzlemath · 18/12/2024 20:40

I think that the white one is lovely, OP. But it is rather inexpensive. When you finally fall in love you will probably want to ditch it for a more expensive one.

Or just buy it and any other you like the look of and have a special Wedding Dress Cupboard full of 'em (which you keep locked when prospective men come over)

Why would i want something expensive to wear for one day

The bodice and the skirt look like they belong on two different dresses.

SweetBobby · 18/12/2024 20:54

Looks like they've cut two totally different dresses in half and stitched the opposite sides together.

You are right, and I was joking. I have looked at those dresses before and wondered what they were like. It does seem odd that some are 2K upwards, and others like this are not expensive at all. When I finally actually got married I bought a ex catwalk one (from a wedding dress fashion show) which was not expensive.

Marine30 · 18/12/2024 20:56

It’s giving me slight Henry VIII vibes - and we know what happened to his women 😳

Challas · 18/12/2024 20:59

You're going to have to have a size
6 body to pull that off and even then it's
Going to have to be perfectly styled. You're going to have to tape it to you because it's not going to shift with you.
