To ask about men 5ft 7 and 9 stone?

Jumell · 17/12/2024 10:01

I’m getting back with my ex - and he mentioned last night he was 9 stone - he’s 5ft 7

i always thought he’s got a gorgeous lean physique but still think this sounds skinny for a man

but he looks fabulous I think 🙌

Any thoughts on these stats ?

Yeah he sounds lean, not for me either but whatever floats your boat.
I like men to be almost twice my weight so I feel smaller.

KimberleyClark · 17/12/2024 11:56

UrsulasHerbBag · 17/12/2024 11:27

I have heard this too.

It’s tall men that are more likely to cheat according to research.

Sdpbody · 17/12/2024 11:56

I am 5ft4 and at 9 stone, I am a "normal BMI" but I look skinny. At 5ft7 and 9 stone, I would look gaunt.

My DH is 5ft11 and weights 13 stone, he would be horribly thin at 10 stone which would be a BMI of 20.

Jumell · 17/12/2024 10:06

Just if people like me think it sounds thin or if people think it actually sounds perfectly reasonable

I think none of us should be talking about some random dudes body.

Weird AF post

Slightly weird question aside, people are so fucking rude and sizeist.

"Too short and too skinny"

He's a healthy weight for his build. And only 1cm shorter than the average height for men.

Can you imagine someone saying that to a woman and being ok with it? Or how about too tall and too fat.

Rude, narrow minded, and judgemental.

Yes. Both my sons are about this size and have had many really horrible comments from women. The elder of the two says he's given up on the idea that anyone will ever go out with him. He's 21 and barely ever goes out now.
If they judged women about their bodies in the same way they would, quite rightly, be hauled over the coals. I tell them that any woman who is so judgemental isn't worth bothering about but there seems to be a lot of them!

9 stone at that height for a man is pretty small. I'm sure you know that.
Whether he's healthy or not, we can't know.
Someone who does fell running, is a jockey, or a coxswain, eats and sleeps well etc is likely to be healthy. There are plenty of naturally very small and healthy people.
Someone who shoots up drugs, smokes a pack a day and gets their calories from whiskey might look very lean but probably isn't very healthy.
Someone who is obsessed with exercise and 'nutrition' might be healthy at that weight at the moment but wouldn't be able to sustain either the lifestyle or the healthy body.

Katemax82 · 17/12/2024 12:11

My dad was over 6ft and 9.5 stones...

Well tell the elder of your DSs that a lot of my crushes - even as a teen - was on men of these very proportions in their 20s. So imo your DS has NOTHING to worry about in terms of future success with women. absolutely nothing.

and my friends were all of the same view as me !

I know it’s my own fault for reading, but I hate these threads in which some women blithely dismiss men as being “too short”, as if it’s a biological fact, not just a personal preference.

DS2 is 5’8”, may possibly reach 5’9” at most (already nearly 16 and has been pubertal for years). He’s really sad about not being tall. He hates it. I try and tell him that his height is fine, but I read threads like this and it makes me sad for him. I’d love to see the reaction on MN if men posted saying women above a certain BMI were “too fat”, especially when weight is actually something individuals can change, unlike height.

Ridiculous isn’t it.

i’ve never given a crap. I was always a dancer where men tend not to be tall and strapping, they’re on the shorter slender side.

it was always their dancing ability that attracted me. Some of the loveliest men I know have been the shorter ones.

i do have some taller female friends and they get similar, where blokes won’t look at them if the women are taller.

buying into the ridiculous stereotypes and dynamics of “big protective man” and “delicate little girl” who needs a big man to watch out for her.

MisterPNumber23 · 17/12/2024 12:47

Men around this height, and shorter, are perfect for me, and I'd love to meet someone who didn't tower above me. :)

Stickystickysticky · 17/12/2024 13:15

So if everyone said he's too thin, would that put you off him?

No absolutely not

i think he’s gorgeous- that won’t change

But I did think 9 stone was light for a grown man . Others of course might not

Well you'll be able to fatten him up with Greggs, and be safe in the knowledge he won't add to your tiny £30 a month food bill.

Edited

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥟

sweeneytoddsrazor · 17/12/2024 13:20

At the end of the day however much someone floats your boat physically a relationship will not work if you are not compatible in other ways.

But I do believe that if you aren't initially physically attracted to someone but overtime you get to know them , then a physical attraction can grow. Not always because I firmly believe male and female can be very good friends without anything happening physically between them, but if a person is warm and friendly says the right things then regardless of their physical appearance there will always be someone who finds them attractive

Your threads are so very random, and half of them appear to be about this ex. You’ve asked us to ‘tell you about 56 year old men’ (as they are clearly monolithic, there was the mad thread about the school he went to 40 years ago (2 CSEs, I believe) and all that stuff about how hot he is and his accent (he appears to sound like Dick Van Dyke, in case anyone’s wondering).

Also, lots of stuff about going back to the past…and Greggs.

What’s going on, OP?

It's got to the point that I browse IABU, see some mad random title and think "ooh I know who that is". Mumsnet Bingo!!!

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/12/2024 13:24

I’m 5ft 7 and look skeletal at 9 stones.

CookieMonster28 · 17/12/2024 13:29

Jennyathemall · 17/12/2024 11:44

Elf on the shelf?

Oh stop it 😂😂😂 howling

CookieMonster28 · 17/12/2024 13:30

I'd be worried of snapping him in half in the bedroom personally

RaisinFlapjack · 17/12/2024 13:30

Oh my god some of the posts on this thread. If the sexes were reversed people would be outraged.

I’m 4 inches taller and about a stone heavier than DH. It’s simply not an issue. Fell for him at first sight despite towering over him in heels.

Pamosonic · 17/12/2024 13:36

We must do better than this sort of body shaming debates. Just imagine the fury if a bunch of guys started debating about size 14+ woman....

Are you very petite …..because I weigh around 8.5 stone and wouldn’t entertain a man who only weighed a bit more than me ….my DP is 6 ft and 11.5 stone…,easily able to carry me ( not that the need is there very often🤣)

BeensOnToost · 17/12/2024 13:39

I think it sounds like the sort of thing a man would ask before posting on a dating site or replying to a question to gauge whether or not to lie

Yes I’m 5ft 1 and my ideal weight is 7 stone 10
