I’m getting back with my ex - and he mentioned last night he was 9 stone - he’s 5ft 7

i always thought he’s got a gorgeous lean physique but still think this sounds skinny for a man

but he looks fabulous I think 🙌

Any thoughts on these stats ?

This is such an odd post. What does it matter what someone's weight 'sounds' like? And why would you care what other people think about the physique of a man they have no interest in and haven't even seen?!

ThatTealViewer · 17/12/2024 11:11

Your threads are so very random, and half of them appear to be about this ex. You’ve asked us to ‘tell you about 56 year old men’ (as they are clearly monolithic, there was the mad thread about the school he went to 40 years ago (2 CSEs, I believe) and all that stuff about how hot he is and his accent (he appears to sound like Dick Van Dyke, in case anyone’s wondering).

Also, lots of stuff about going back to the past…and Greggs.

What’s going on, OP?

PumpkinScarf · 17/12/2024 11:11

I’m 5’7 and I wish I was 9 stone 😂

evtheria · 17/12/2024 11:15

This is SUCH a weird thing to ask people!
If it was a man posting it about a woman, giving her height and weight, asking everyone what they thought... wowwwwwww.

His bmi would be around 23.4 which is definitely not overweight by any stretch of the imagination.

I checked the NHS bmi calculator

Congratulations on getting back with your gorgeous ex whose physique is exactly what you like.

Iliketulips · 17/12/2024 11:16

My DH is the same height, about 10st4lbs. He's certainly looking good for his age (nearly 60) as many of his friends have a rounded tummy. Looking at him, I'd say he'd easily get away with losing a few pounds though.

I've just bumped into my friend's husband who is a similar age and he's very skinny, but he eats well, walks miles and is certainly healthy for his age (again late 50s). I think the key to this is if the man concerned feels comfortable in himself, is well, have energy to do whatever and able to eat regularly healthy meals (and a few treats, which lets face it most of us do).

eastcoasterly · 17/12/2024 11:17

The thread is doing a good job of bringing out the folk who are happy to slate a man's height. 5'7" isn't exactly short and it's amazing so many women happily dismiss it as too short. As a woman who is actually short I would be hurt if the same were said of my height, it's not ok to slate height either way especially as it's not something within a person's control. I've dated men from 5'4" to 6'3", none of their personalities or capabilities were affected by their stature. If 5'7" is too short I must be pixie size...

Sidebeforeself · 17/12/2024 11:17

Do you want a prize or something?

GoldsolesLugs · 17/12/2024 11:18

If he were 5 foot 8 or 5 foot 6 you'd be fine, but 5 foot 7? Naah.

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 17/12/2024 11:19

5ft7 men are evil, serial cheaters. Never trust one.

Victoriancat · 17/12/2024 11:21

That's my husbands height and around that kind of size, doesn't bother me at all as he's very fit and I don't like tall men 😂

eastcoasterly · 17/12/2024 11:21

@Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast I'm guessing maybe your husband is of a different ethnicity to mine? This is what it gives me when I input those stats. Which if anything just goes to show bmi isn't the be all end all I suppose.

More meat on butchers pencil.

Why are you getting back with him if it doesn't float your boat btw?

I have heard this too.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 17/12/2024 11:28

My DH is around that weight but much taller. No drugs involved. He doesn't put on weight despite eating large amounts. It appears in our house he eats it I put on the weight.

IAmNeverThePerson · 17/12/2024 11:30

It’s slim.

ds1 is 6ft and 57kg - now that is lean.

Wordau · 17/12/2024 11:32

Slightly weird question aside, people are so fucking rude and sizeist.

"Too short and too skinny"

He's a healthy weight for his build. And only 1cm shorter than the average height for men.

Can you imagine someone saying that to a woman and being ok with it? Or how about too tall and too fat.

Rude, narrow minded, and judgemental.

Onceuponatime9 · 17/12/2024 11:36

I think it's more to do with your height & weight differences. If there is a huge difference eg a very tall heavier man with a much shorter woman I can't imagine it makes for the most comfortable physical side of the relationship regardless of how attractive he is. If it works for you that's what counts. Why question it & bother about what other people think.

AbitSceptical · 17/12/2024 11:41

HPandthelastwish · 17/12/2024 10:07

Well you'll be able to fatten him up with Greggs, and be safe in the knowledge he won't add to your tiny £30 a month food bill.

Edited

Ha ha - I didn’t realise this was the same op!

Kim5678 · 17/12/2024 11:42

It sounds very slim, especially for his age. I’ve dated people of similar proportions but because I was taller and often bigger at size 10 I felt like their protector which I didn’t really like. But none of us can tell you what you like and find attractive

JLou08 · 17/12/2024 11:43

If a man wrote a thread like this about me they would be staying an ex. It I took to MN to write a post about him doing it I'm sure it would be full of comments about what a misogynistic twat he was.

I have randomly looked on the internet and it seems 9st 5lb is the minimum healthy weight for a man of 5ft 7"
