Aibu not letting dd open gifts

Dd is 9 today. She's been waking me up periodically since 3am asking to open her gifts. I've been sleepily telling her it's too early. It's now 5.55 and we're about to get up, as a family (me, dh and 2 ds) and open her gifts etc.

She's extremely emotional, crying, saying it's the worst day ever. I feel bad I've ruined her bday by not letting her open her gifts.

Aibu?

Some of the comments on this thread explain why there are so many brats running around these days. "Big feelings" my arse, 9yo's shouldn't be throwing toddler tantrums!

She's 9. Time for her to learn that the world doesn't revolve around her perhaps?

I think December birthdays need a bit of extra attention if I'm honest. My dds bday is xmas eve and she kind of loses her day amongst all the other goings on. She never woke at 3am, but 5am did occur a couple of times. We make a massive effort for her, but everyone else is too wrapped up in xmas so it's difficult to give her the daybshe deserves.
She is 15 this year though so isn't as bothered but it was tough when she was little.

She’s crying because she’s tired from being up since three. She’ll be fine after a nap.
